To think the responses to these TripAdvisor reviews are beyond rude!

None of the reviews are mine, I’ve never been to the place. A friend told me about the cafe owner’s responses to any negative reviews and I’m sat here open mouthed reading them. She alludes to reviewers having small penises, stalks their tripadvisor profile to read other reviews and slags off their photos, etc.

Like I said I’ve never been and won’t after reading these as I wouldn’t want to give my money to someone who sounds so —unhinged— nasty. Can’t believe someone who runs a business has so little idea about customer service.

When a restaurant says

SPECIAL DIETS
Vegetarian Friendly, Gluten Free Options

You expect something more than vegetables or salad.

You don't expect someone in the catering industry to say vegetarians eat fish and make rude comments

Or maybe I do

I like to think the owner is being sarcastic when she says some vegetarians have ordered fish, chicken or pork because it is a broad church but from her aggression I think it's safe to assume she isn't.

Lincoln? @brownstripepj

Have to say I’ve lived in Lincoln over 40 years and have probably only been to the east coast about ten times in my life. None of which have been in the last 15 years. Tell a lie I went to cleethorpes last year but that was with work.

That gave me a laugh. Trip Advisor is good value sometimes.

Not RTFT, but yeah, that's just rude!
Just comes across as being awful.
Not doing it right - the owner of Whitby Humble Pie and Mash has some hilarious responses to those who leave ridiculous negative reviews Grin
and the pies there are epic

Just had a look and all the negative reviews I read were written by new members, with that being their only review.

OP must be connected in some way. Cafe ownerror vying for publicity? Rival cafe owner?

I love reading the replies to some of those on the make, many of the bad reviews are either nit-picking or retaliation for not being bribed into giving a glowing review. TA has become a joke.

Reading my comment back and it totally sounds like I'm the owner or associated in some way with the one I mentioned, I'm totally not Blush Grin
Just wanted to clarify lol!
Just saying if you want to retaliate to negative reviews, you've got to be good at writing and witty or funny with it Grin

Omg her responses to the two new (obviously mumsnetters) reviews are astounding. Is she ok?

Must be a Northern thing. The owner from the restaurant Home in Leeds always writes 'heated' responses to criticism. Says a lot!

Trolls or not given her response about what she considers vegetarian says it all

I was in Cornwall when we were laughed at in a pub when we asked if they did vegetarian. (We are in London so it is a given that restaurants and cafes cater for vegetarian and vegan) Didn't realise that .
vegetarianism hadn't reached Cornwall.

We ate chips virtually all holiday and have never been back.

I was served chicken in a top hotel in Oxford during the 90s.

When I pointed out that vegetarians didn't eat chicken I was told I should have asked for vegan and they would have done me a cheese omelette.

Served bacon in a b&b in the north west and a ham salad in the north east.

All were suitably annoyed and made nasty comments.

I might go in the autumn when it’s not as busy.

My dog has never seen the sea so I could take her over for a run on the beach and then take one for Mumsnet and go and check it out for lunch.

I grew up in Cornwall veggie and lactose intolerant and there are plenty of veggie places. I would say now even more! It's full of hippies and conservationists in the county and a lot of vegan places are popping up!

We were with other people at the time (about 18 years ago) who were in the area and because of the weather didn't really go to the coast. Must have missed all these places that did vegetarian options.

The way the landlord drew attention to the fact we had asked for a vegetarian meal to the whole pub and the glee in which he served us chips as the vegetarian option really looked like Cornwall had no idea what a vegetarian was. It was the same the next day and the next.

Never returning there it has too many bad memories

Then you cut yourself off from large areas of the world, with a lot of beauty and diversity to offer Olivers. If anywhere you go that doesn't get the veggie or vegan thing, and by this I mean some individuals, as obviously extending comments to whole counties or countries where some individuals have been less than helpful, shows your discriminatory attitude as opposed to an actual reflection of reality.

You lose out, and those places win frankly.

I can completely understand your ire at not getting adequate food or understanding, and at being treated poorly, but, just find different food outlets!

Sometimes we've all had to endure shit service and poor food, but we avoid those establishments. You cant go round dismissing entire communities because of it; now thats unreasonable!
