To think the responses to these TripAdvisor reviews are beyond rude!

None of the reviews are mine, I’ve never been to the place. A friend told me about the cafe owner’s responses to any negative reviews and I’m sat here open mouthed reading them. She alludes to reviewers having small penises, stalks their tripadvisor profile to read other reviews and slags off their photos, etc.

Like I said I’ve never been and won’t after reading these as I wouldn’t want to give my money to someone who sounds so —unhinged— nasty. Can’t believe someone who runs a business has so little idea about customer service.

Very entertaining

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 08:47

If she's seriously that fed up of idiots moaning about petty things that she traps them in her cafe, she needs to get out of the business as she's going off a cliff!

DaphneFanshaw · 25/08/2019 08:50

I want to go there now.
The food looks nice and she gets way more good reviews than bad.

ChocChocButtons · 25/08/2019 08:50

People do moan about stupid things! Restaurants are allowed to choose the followings.

Pandering to vegans/veggies
Having children in their restaurant etc

Why should they get negative reviews because they don’t want to serve plants and shit to vegans lol

madeyemoodysmum · 25/08/2019 08:50

She is very rude and patronising

However im tempted to visit if I’m in the area so I can see fit my self. Sadly we live 2 hours away.

PancakeAndKeith · 25/08/2019 08:50

I don’t think that a vegetarian pointing out that vegetarians don’t eat fish is a petty gripe or a customer moaning about nothing.
Her attitude is dreadful.

Rezie · 25/08/2019 08:51

There are quite a few restaurants if enot fine just because their responses to reviews are so rude.

In this place the responses are so weird that I'm not sure what to make of them 😁

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 25/08/2019 08:51

Omg that's outrageous!! Imagine working for themShock

SleepyKat · 25/08/2019 08:53

I’ve actually got more sympathy with the bakewell guy as he seems to be mainly responding (albeit a bit rudely) to people moaning about it being busy and expensive. As he points out it’s a tourist hotspot and (according to him) serving quality food rather than cheap food. I can understand him thinking if you want cheaper food go somewhere cheaper (and not as good quality).

Saying that such reviews are still useful for people because not everyone wants a more expensive, quality pub. Some people are happy with whethersppons and at least they know not to go if there’s honest reviews.

She sounds utterly deranged.

She must be writing those reviews chuckling away to herself about how daringly witty she's being when in fact she comes across as desperately attention-seeking and insecure.

BrunettesDoItBetter · 25/08/2019 08:54

The owner obviously gives zero fucks and has enough custom to risk putting some off with the replies, fair play

MashedSpud · 25/08/2019 08:55

She sounds like the uk version of Amy’s Baking Company.

ChocChocButtons · 25/08/2019 08:55

Well her cafe is doing a roaring trade so she clearly is doing something right.

SleepyKat · 25/08/2019 08:56

And yes as a vegetarian I wouldn’t mind about somewhere not catering to vegetarians. Though again I appreciate tripadvisor reviews which point this out as it saves me wasting my (and The restaurants) time.

But I would object to being told by someone that as a vegetarian I could eat fish, pork, etc.

Scotlass123 · 25/08/2019 08:58

I like her. She’s funny. I wouldn’t go in her cafe though. I’d be too scared. Having worked with the public before, I admire her honesty. The public are twats.

ChocChocButtons · 25/08/2019 08:58

Most ppl are aware veggies don’t eat meat! But a lot do eat fish.

toiletseat · 25/08/2019 09:00

Oh yuck. What a nasty individual. How witty people like this believe they are is usually inversely proportional to how witty they actually are.

cdtaylornats · 25/08/2019 09:01

Have you ever tried to ask about the meat option in a vegetarian restaurant? Now they are rude.

Deathraystare · 25/08/2019 09:01

I dunno - what she says about EvieK and her attitude to foreigners probably says more about Evie K than about her. The sort of cringey people who have a sense of entitlement and moan about being ripped off abroad, etc etc.

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 09:04

She has a monopoly, and arrogantly thinks its ok to treat people this way.

Having a monopoly does not give you the right to trap customers who disagree with you!!

It also doesn't mean you have a good business model or provide a consistently good product/service. Its meaningless because its a monopoly.

She should have her licence to trade in such a hot spot removed for her treatment of anyone complaining.

cafenoirbiscuit · 25/08/2019 09:05

I quite love her (gets coat) ....

madeyemoodysmum · 25/08/2019 09:06

I work with the public too and believe me some are idiots but it’s not excuse for her rudeness on a public forum
Personal insults on a grand scale

She also claims good food hygiene but my dd has nut allergy and her comments on the ice cream would concern me as cross contamination can be a real issue.

She is a knob.

OMGshefoundmeout · 25/08/2019 09:07

The food sounds very good but she sounds self important and dull which would put me off going there. I used to feel the same way about Langans in the West End. Peter Langan the owner used to lurch about roaring drunk, insulting people or flirting with them depending on his mood. The general feeling was that he was a quirky eccentric who added character to the place and it was a badge of honour to have him be rude to you but I thought he was an embarrassing fool.

MashedSpud · 25/08/2019 09:08

Pescatarians eat fish.

I would be worried eating there if I had allergies seeing as she’s in the food industry but has no idea what a vegetarian is.

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 09:09

Have you ever tried to ask about the meat option in a vegetarian restaurant?

Does anyone ever do that? Why would I go to a veggie restaurant and ask for meat? In India anything meat is called 'non-vegetarian' where we go, the baseline is 'no meat'.

Just why would you? Like going to AA and asking for your favourite tipple.
