Never see the baby?

This might sound odd, but my next door neighbours had a baby last year - he would be nearly one.

I can hear him crying and I occasionally see the neighbours carrying a baby carrier to the car, but I have never seen them leave the house pushing a pram and all through the summer they were never in the garden with him that I saw.

I chat to them occasionally and understand he is doing well, starting to walk. I know there could be health problems they don’t want to mention - but it’s odd to never see him at all.

We live in new builds with smallish gardens - I garden a lot, and we have been sitting out a lot in the summer. My daughter plays in the garden. We are very quiet, so we aren’t driving them inside. Neither my daughter, boyfriend or I have ever seen them even carrying the baby outside.

None of my business I know - but given the amazing weather we have had all summer it just seems a bit strange.

You can't really go in the garden with a non mobile baby unless they are napping? At that age I would be out and about walking with my DS in the pram so you probably wouldn't be aware of them.

Dare you to just knock on and say aww let's see the little one then

Never heard or saw next door's second baby. It's 6 now - a perfectly normal, happy child. I just didn't go in and out of the house at the same times they did and mum likes a quiet house after work.

Our non mobile baby is always in the garden with us. We often eat at the table outside (we just bring his highchair out), or put him on a blanket on the grass, or in the UV sun tent, or bring his bouncy chair out and put it on the patio.

@SoyDora fine; probably what I should have said is that a non mobile baby doesn't really play in the garden like an older child or toddler! At that age I would have been worried about getting sunburnt unless you have some kind of tent or something, or generally eating the soil!

Yeah to be fair mine eats a lot of grass!

Very often don't take my baby in the garden because she has hayfever and sensitive skin so quite a few suncreams set off her eczema.

We tend to go out first things in the morning when the sun is not as harsh and my neighbours are still in bed when we do and when we get back they tend to have left for work/shopping/something

I literally just love staying at home with my baby and my baby loves it too.
