For me it’s buckwheat crackers spread with plain yoghurt, wasabi + sprinkle of salt. It’s GENIUS.

Also it’s not really a snack but....

Vinegar on Lasagne.

Some sort of taste supercharge is all I can say. Takes lasagne to the next level.

Put little cubes of cheese in marmite Hoola Hoops

Greeborising · 21/08/2019 00:03

Ready salted crisps with vinegar

DontCallMeShitley · 21/08/2019 00:04

Almonds and crystalised ginger.

Just finished off the last of the Dolcelatte with an apple, thanks to this thread.

TIDYROOMFINALLY (how do you to the "@username" thing - I can't figure it out?!)
Like I say, it was an accidental thing so I've only ever done them in the microwave which makes them fabulously squishy and unctuous (that's such a Nigella word!) but I've never tried them under the grill with cheese but it may well be equally delish!
For crumpets without cheese my preference is well done with lots of butter and having eaten both my breakfast and my lunch by 11am today (in my defence I did get up at 5.15) I had to pop out from work to get some crumpets for a snack. They were done in the toaster and were yummy but will never taste the same as my childhood days when we used to toast them on the end of a poker over an open fire (good grief, I sound so OLD!)

Weetabix spread thickly with butter with mandarins on top. Heaven.

ChicCroissant · 21/08/2019 00:12

Mini pizza-type snack with slice of toast, tomato sauce (ketchup will work as well), sprinkle with dried mixed herbs and put cheese on top, grill. The herbs seem to help cover up the cheap bread, sauce and cheese somehow

French toast in a mug recipe that I found on a website, really nice with fruit bread - butter bread, chop into bite size pieces, mix milk, egg and spices in a large mug, add chopped bread, stir and cook for a few minutes but stop every 30 seconds. Great for breakfast.

Excuse me while I go and buy some potato waffles and wraps ...

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/08/2019 00:20

A bowl of yoghurt with two biscuits (Nice are the best, then hobnobs).

It was a pudding at my prep school!

RocketRacoonsFurryBalls · 21/08/2019 00:36

When I was hard up (travelling) and ravenous, there were four items in the kitchen: brown rice, a tin of coconut milk, soya sauce, and ground ginger.

I made a sort of savoury rice pudding with it. Really delicious and satisfying.

Gosh, 19 years later it’s high time I have it another go.

This thread is making me hungry!

RocketRacoonsFurryBalls · 21/08/2019 00:41

Oh my god yes, at primary school, the bowl of strawberry yoghurt, with some sort of delicious biscuit*. It was like a round soft shortbready type thing, baked on the premises I think. YUM!

*And now I’m thinking of him in Black Books, drunkenly chewing on a cork coaster.

lalafafa · 21/08/2019 00:45

A crisp and brown sauce sandwich

Korvalscat · 21/08/2019 00:51

Several layers of sliced cheese and onion (starting and finishing with cheese) baked in the oven for 20/30mins then use it as a sandwich filling preferably bog standard white bread - brown sauce optional.

Fish fingers sandwiches with salad cream

A buttered crusty cob with strawberry jam, coleslaw and cheese and onion crisps

Thinly sliced cucumber and onion soaked in slightly diluted vinegar for at least half an hour. Delicious on its own or added to various sandwiches

LifeOfLimes · 21/08/2019 00:57

A salt sandwich (bread, butter, salt). Blush
A ramekin of melted cheese.
Nutella with a cup of tea, dipping each spoon of it into the tea and eating when warm.

TatianaLarina · 21/08/2019 07:52

Discovered by accident and have only made them once or twice as probably quite unhealthy but toasted crumpets with a very generous pile of grated cheese on top and microwaved til the cheese is well melted and seeping down in to the holes. TO DIE FOR!

Will try. 👍🏼

A slice of cheese with an equal amount of tomato puree on top. Confused

June340oo · 21/08/2019 08:01

Fish finger sandwich with a big dollop of ketchup. Grin

iklboo · 21/08/2019 08:04

Fish finger sandwich with a big dollop of ketchup

That's the food of the gods. Especially if I'm feeling a bit under weather.

June340oo · 21/08/2019 08:07

@iklboo

In total agreement! No other snack compares Wink

MsCupcake · 21/08/2019 08:09

Crackerbread - peanut butter - cottage cheese - salt & pepper...... yum!

cliffdiver · 21/08/2019 08:14

Mini cheddars - each one topped with a cube of cheese and half a small pickled onion.

A friend on mine eats cheese and onion crisps dipped in strawberry yogurt.

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/08/2019 08:17

Toasted malt loaf with a slab of Stilton on top. I stick it back under the grill so the cheese gets warm but not melted.

(Does this have fruit cake and cheese origins in 'the north'? Everyone down here thinks I’m odd for eating it)

nachosTrafficante · 21/08/2019 08:25

Crumpets and cheese under the grill.

Brie and coleslaw on a baguette or v soft white bread.

Nigel Slater , basmati rice with Parmesan and chili sauce.

Reindeerssmellbetter · 21/08/2019 08:28

I love a cheese and jam toastie, poor man's brie and cranberry.

Passionaria · 21/08/2019 08:39

When at uni I'd mix icing sugar with a little milk until very thick then spread it thickly on digestives. Somehow I still have all my teeth.

Weetabix dipped into ice cold milk so each bite is the right combination of soft and crunchy.

A bag of chopped and ready to eat iceberg lettuce and a pot of Sainsbury's BGTY chive and soured cream dip (full fat will not do) with the lettuce in place of crisps. One 200g bag of lettuce is enough for half a pot of dip.

formerbabe · 21/08/2019 08:43

Very crispy pitta bread dipped in french dressing.

Sun dried tomatoes wrapped in parma ham

Square of white chocolate dipped in peanut butter

Breadsticks dipped in sweet chilli sauce
