Sure the dress is alright (not my style) but God is it spiralling out of control.

I’ve just read this www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/the-zara-dress_uk_5d516d12e4b0fd2733f353b1

and can’t quite believe people are mocking and posting pictures of strangers on an Instagram account and hashtag dedicated to a bloody dress.

I am not thin. In fact, I am a bit fat. I still love it, feel good in it, and have had compliments - plural.

Pretty shitty to say only the thin could possibly look nice in it.

happycamper11 · 17/08/2019 08:10

It looks like an old nightdress. People really do believe anything they are told don't they?!

PurpleFlower1983 · 17/08/2019 08:20

I like Zara dresses and I like this one but I don’t like to dress like everyone else so haven’t bothered with it.

Junoon · 17/08/2019 08:23

I’ve seen it on a few people in London. Got to be honest - it’s not great. It looks like it comes from a clothing catalogue.

Zara is Master at styling any old shit on some rake thin androgynous model and making it seem cool.

KOKOtiltomorrow · 17/08/2019 08:32

It’s like Zara does the Handmaid’s Tale

jay55 · 17/08/2019 08:47

Men absolutely do all go out and buy the same thing, but trainers rather than dresses.

Stonerosie67 · 17/08/2019 09:00

I haven't seen it for real, hadn't even heard about it till this thread, and I really like it. There are clearly a lot of people on here who have got it, why do some posters feel the need to say really horrible things about it? If you don't like it that's fine, but some of the comments are just plain bitchy.

Eustasiavye · 17/08/2019 09:01

Men do go on mass and buy the same thing.
Especially men over 30.
I see lots of very stylish young men. Invariably they are toned without an ounce of excess body fat and take great pride in how they look.
The older men walk around looking the same.
Baggy shorts with unironed slogan t shirts and flip flops with minging feet on display.
No effort as to if the colours match or suit them.
At least wearing this dress is making an effort.

Oh yes. Beige chinos, a white a blue short sleeve shirt and the shoes in this pic, are staples in my office

Because it's so unfathomably fugly.

Alsohuman · 17/08/2019 12:14

Ugliness is in the eye of the beholder. I’d be very interested in seeing the kind of dress the critics of it think is beautiful.

monstiebags · 17/08/2019 18:09

marvellous social media add campaign - nothing more - suckers

Skyejuly · 17/08/2019 18:12

Never heard of the dress or seen anyone in it?

Butchyrestingface · 17/08/2019 18:28

Fugly is as fugly doth. For me, it’s compounded by the fact that so many women have raced out to buy something so fug and unflattering.

It’s like the Emperor’s New Clothes. Except more costly.

Alsohuman · 17/08/2019 18:33

Why can’t people get it into their heads that “flattering” isn’t a factor some of us take into account when we buy clothes? How hard is it to understand?

It’s not hard to understand. Which is why I said fug and unflattering. I am definitely someone who dresses for comfort above anything else. I wouldn’t actively seek out something that looked terrible and/or was currently being worn by half the population though. But as you say, diff’rnt strokes.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/08/2019 18:36

I've seen a fair few people in the dress and not keen, even though I have been partial to spotty numbers in the past.

However I was in Zara t'other day and saw the most amazing clothes I've ever come across there! Very covetable. Much more so than said spotty dress.

Crinkle77 · 17/08/2019 18:39

Nope not seen it up North either.

Butchyrestingface · 17/08/2019 18:41

Nope not seen it up North either.

Apparently it’s been spotted at the Festival.

Joh66 · 17/08/2019 18:44

Spotted 2 ladies at La Chicota flamenco evening in Spain. Both looked lovely.

TapasForTwo · 17/08/2019 18:53

I have never seen anyone wearing this dress in RL. The only mention I have seen is on MN. I don't think it is very special.

nononever · 17/08/2019 18:54

@UterusUterusGhali it's apparently now available in black www.independent.co.uk/life-style/fashion/zara-dress-polka-dot-black-buy-australia-viral-instagram-a9052826.html

nononever · 17/08/2019 18:54

Oops the catch is it is only available in Australia!

UrsulaMonkton · 17/08/2019 18:59

I bought this dress yesterday and had absolutely no idea about any of this hooha until now when I read this thread! Basically because I don’t read the daily mail, it seems? I wore it last night and got tons of compliments from total, it’s one of the most flattering lovely dresses I’ve ever had.
I balked a bit when I saw this thread but sod it - a few daily hate reading bitches sneering at me really going to put me off wearing it.
I like the idea of dying it (once I’ve worn it a few times) though. Anyone have a photo of it in blue?

InvernessAdventure · 17/08/2019 19:04

I think Zara have an excellent marketing department.

And I think it's just as well if all their clothes are this frumpy.
