Sure the dress is alright (not my style) but God is it spiralling out of control.

I’ve just read this www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/the-zara-dress_uk_5d516d12e4b0fd2733f353b1

and can’t quite believe people are mocking and posting pictures of strangers on an Instagram account and hashtag dedicated to a bloody dress.

I've seen many people wearing this. Honestly, this dress makes me despair. It's SO ugly. Everyone who wears it just looks AWFUL, like a spotted hospital patient. My DP described it as something Mrs Doubtfire would wear.

Nothingcomesforfree · 16/08/2019 13:04

This is old news. The dress has been and gone ( thanks to the now inappropriate weather to wear it).
My friend has it and did say everywhere she went someone’s would be wearing it. So I guess it’s more the type of people who would wear this style going to the same places.

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 13:05

So what type of dress would you buy for the Summer? I certainly struggled this year to buy a skirt that wasn’t midi length with some form of animal print on. And when cold shoulders were in most of the dresses & tops I liked had the missing shoulders.
I’ve always veered into prairie, amish style dresses in the Summer & have got a fair collection now Im in my 30s, it’s my style so I don’t want to change it because it’s on trend.

happytobemrsg · 16/08/2019 13:08

I have it & also bought two more which I have dyed (khaki & grey). I only ever get compliments 🤷‍♀️ I like long flowy dresses with belts. I was stopped last week by a stranger whilst wearing the khaki one to say how lovely I looked. I’ve seen much worse clothes, I don’t really understand the universal hate for it.

justasking111 · 16/08/2019 13:08

It is a perfect autumnal dress. So not gone.

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 13:10

I have it & also bought two more which I have dyed (khaki & grey) I’m jealous!

justasking111 · 16/08/2019 13:11

Glad so many of you hate it, I may have a chance when it is back in stock Grin

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 16/08/2019 13:12

It's baffling that people are still wanging on about it. It's been a "thing" for a couple of months and I've seen a few people wearing it here in Yorkshire, but its time has been and gone, as it's now pissing it down and 17C. I have had to laugh at the number of people I've seen saying that they've bought it multiple times and dyed it and they're going to wear it all through the winter with thick tights and a cardigan and they will wear it forever and ever and ever. In reality, the thing will probably look crap after a single wash, because it's Zara and it's made of cheap polyester.

As to why it's so popular, I think it's just a natural swing of the pendulum away from the skintight, short bodycon horrors that have been fashionable for the last couple of years. No doubt it will swing back the other way in another couple of years and people will be expressing their relief that they can buy "pretty" clothes again instead of shapeless sacks.

dementedma · 16/08/2019 13:20

another one who has never heard of this phenomenon

Alsohuman · 16/08/2019 13:24

I’ve got it, love it and have been complimented on it. I’m 5’ 2” and it’s above ankle length on me. Looks great with white trainers.

Butchyrestingface · 16/08/2019 13:24

It is a perfect autumnal dress

Yeah, if you’re:

A) 95
B) Going camping and don’t have room in the car for an extra tent
C) never want to pull again

BenWillbondsPants · 16/08/2019 13:25

I hate the dress. Have never seen a single person wearing it either.

Alsohuman · 16/08/2019 13:25

How can you hate it then?

Butchyrestingface · 16/08/2019 13:27

It is a perfect autumnal dress

She’s prolly perusing Instagram. Smile

ElizaDee · 16/08/2019 13:30

I don't think that dress is flattering on anyone.

verticality · 16/08/2019 13:30

It's that rare garment that is equally hideous and unflattering on women of all ages and body shapes.

isthatapugunicorn · 16/08/2019 13:31

Not heard of it, don't care! Women really need to move on from making other women feel shit about inconsequential stuff, there's so much else we can be doing...

IlGattopardo · 16/08/2019 13:33

Woman in front of me on the train last night was wearing one - my first sighting in the wild. She looked great in it but was that tall, willowy type of woman that looks good in anything.

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 13:33

I can’t believe how many people hate it or have such strong judgements on it. I constantly see people wearing things I would never dream of wearing myself but variety is the spice of life.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 16/08/2019 13:35

@reginafelangee, no, it hasn't reached my corner of Suffolk, either.

AmIChangingagain · 16/08/2019 13:37

Never seen anyone with it either

Looks like a shapeless tent

wildcherries · 16/08/2019 13:38

It looks like a nightgown to me. No way would I wear it. It's brilliant marketing though.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/08/2019 13:39

I have no idea about this dress at all.

It hasn't reached rural Cornwall yet.

But then it's probably not waterproof.

Nothingcomesforfree · 16/08/2019 13:39

It’s not the dress so much as it “ the” dress. Not sure I am keen to wear anything that is known for being that. Dress itself is fine for what it is.

PuffsMummie · 16/08/2019 13:46

I like it a lot, I wouldnt get one because it's worn by every other woman on the street/in the bar/nail salon, but I think it's really trendy and seems to be universally flattering on everyone I have seen wearing it.
