Sure the dress is alright (not my style) but God is it spiralling out of control.

I’ve just read this www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/the-zara-dress_uk_5d516d12e4b0fd2733f353b1

and can’t quite believe people are mocking and posting pictures of strangers on an Instagram account and hashtag dedicated to a bloody dress.

OP posts:

Hideous dress. You’d have to be a tall, slim, beautiful young woman to look anything like half decent in it. The rest of us would look like frumpy, lumpy shit!

Yeah but I look like frumpy lumpy shit whatever I wear - so that wouldn't deter me if I wanted one of these. I haven't seen them myself but then I don't go out much.

NoTheresa · 16/08/2019 12:22

The most beautiful camel coat I ever possessed was Zara one. I did, however, buy it in the Lisbon Zara which was a fabulous shop and totally unlike the UK offering.

NoTheresa · 16/08/2019 12:24

Point - not all Zara stuff is poor quality and/or some form of man-made fibre

NoTheresa · 16/08/2019 12:24

a Zara

Someonetookmyusername · 16/08/2019 12:27

I've heard of it, but not seen anyone in it in real life. But I rarely leave the house tbh. Th
e people taking photos need to get a life. I hope this 'basic' shit dies a death soon. It's so shallow and ridiculous, grow the fuck up world.

Applejack5 · 16/08/2019 12:28

It's horrible. I don't think it's particularly flattering on anyone in the photos on the linked articles and it looks awful on the Zara model. How odd.

gamesanddaisychains · 16/08/2019 12:28

"Emperors new clothes ' comes to mind. Is this really the dress of the season, or is it a pubicity stunt? I havent seen anyone wearing it and I'm not surprised, I can't imagine it looks good on anybody. I don't like it!

MarshaBradyo · 16/08/2019 12:29

The first line is wrong - it really does need an introduction. I had no idea and I’m glad about that

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 12:33

I saw this dress & didn’t buy cause I knew it would be super popular although I do have similar styles. Wish I had bought it & dyed it
though as I didn’t think of that.

Contrary to what you read on mumsnet a lot of women like dresses this shape because they are loose, light & the wearers feel comfortable. Not everyone desires to dressing to showing off their figure.

Someonetookmyusername · 16/08/2019 12:35

To clarify I hope the term 'basic' or 'basic white girl' dies soon.

Vintagevixen · 16/08/2019 12:38

I've seen this a lot in London and everyone I've seen looked great in it. I love a prairie girl type dress, not all of us want to show our bodies and I prefer to be loosely covered. Only wish I'd got my hands on one, but I have similar so won't be paying top dollar on eBay!

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 12:41

The reason it’s “everywhere” is because Zara repeated it, which they don’t really do.

Shaming people for wearing it is ridiculous, cd

Vintagevixen · 16/08/2019 12:43

Not everyone I've seen has been tall and slim, seen a few larger sizes in it and they looked fab. Styled right it isn't frumpy IMO and it's soooooo nice to have a dress with proper sleeves for summer.

WombleOfThighlandCommonAmI · 16/08/2019 12:45

Never mind the dress, did anyone else spot this on the Sun link?

Confused
to think this whole Zara dress thing has gone too far?
origamiunicorn · 16/08/2019 12:46

I think the dress is just symbolic of how everyone dresses the same these days.

justasking111 · 16/08/2019 12:46

I am on their e mailing list, they have repeated it twice to my knowledge, I have missed out both times, sold out within an hour. Desperate to get one for my DIL.

I watched people walk in them, they move beautifully, very floaty.

CottonSock · 16/08/2019 12:48

Never heard of it. Def not flattering on the .model. would not flatter my fat / short arse. I'll be on the look out now.

MorrisZapp · 16/08/2019 12:48

I had a coat from M&S once that every fucker bought. About fifteen years ago. Pink with criss crossed threads if that makes any sense.

I arrived at a bus stop once and the girl in front of me was wearing it. Two minutes later another woman joined the queue behind me and she was wearing it too, it was utterly ridiculous!!

The downside of homogenised high streets.

nononever · 16/08/2019 12:50

Wish I had bought it & dyed it

Still available in XS and S on their website Spotty Frock

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 12:54

I get this but I don’t think it’s actually the customers fault. When I was a tween/teen in the 90s we definitely had different tastes to our parents, when I wore my Stan Smiths I don’t think my mum even owned trainers & there were plenty of fashions older people wisely left alone. Now 12 yr olds & 40 yr olds dress the same.

Also the high street shops definitely had more distinctive looks & styles on offer eg Oasis was a bit more formal & work orientated, Topshop more trendy & casual, Warehouse more clubby. Now if something is in fashion every shop has their version & there seems to be less choice if you don’t want to buy those options unless you pay more.

kidsdoingmyheadin · 16/08/2019 12:54

nononever I need a M :(

origamiunicorn · 16/08/2019 12:55

I haven't actually seen it look nice on anyone. That style is just a bit too Handmaid's Tale if I'm honest. Would be nice as a midi skirt but I don't like the actual dress.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 16/08/2019 12:56

I don't like it and the idea it suits everyone is bollocks. I saw a bosomy woman in it at the Edinburgh fringe this week and if you put a hat on her it looked like she was off to church in the 80s.

Butchyrestingface · 16/08/2019 12:56

Another Scot in Scotland.

I’ve never heard of the fucking dress, thank fuck.

origamiunicorn · 16/08/2019 13:00

I do agree but then I think there are plenty of things you can buy that aren't so on trend they look homogeneous.
