DH left me at home with no snacks

30 weeks pregnant. DD asleep.
DH gone to friends house for drinks. Which is fine but I asked him to get me pudding and a drink from the shop at the end of the road before he left. He left and forgot to get it even though I said it as he was saying bye. AIBU to be majorly pissed off and grumpy.
He's at friends now and won't be back before I'm in bed.
I wanted something nice to drink and some chocolate!! Sad

Good grief I just do not get mumsnet sometimes. Last month a lady was saying she couldn't drive a child 40 minutes out of her way because she was going on holiday and she was absolutely slated for not being 'kind'. OP's husband told her at the last minute that he was going out drinking tonight so she asked, as she was going to be on her own, heavily pregnant, if he could just pop out and grab her some snacks before he goes out and she's now unreasonable! Seriously? What happened to a husband being 'kind' to his wife?!

Howdidido · 09/08/2019 21:52

The problem is now I know this milkshake place delivers. I may have to block their number to save myself in future...

That milkshake sounds amazing OP.
Don’t fall asleep now Grin

tolerable · 09/08/2019 21:53

do you have an egg, flour and milk????? pancakes.

Howdidido · 09/08/2019 21:55

Yep I probably will and the driver won't be able to wake me.. .

I have ingredients for a cake or pancakes or even honey based flapjacks.. But I have no nutella or chocolate substitute of any kind. And once it's in my head that's it!

Argh man that would have wound me up and I'm not pregnant, surely that's a fair compromise if you have to be in with a sleeping child he gets the goodies in before going out! I think you need to forget something that he would enjoy Grin oh enjoy your treats though they sound amazing Smile Cake

LatteLove · 09/08/2019 21:55

I was going to suggest seeing if a lovely neighbour could either sit in with the wee one for 5 mins or pop to the shop for you but milkshake sounds like a plan! Enjoy

Howdidido · 09/08/2019 21:56

I am also feeling lazy and want instant gratification rather than having to work for it! Grin

Countrysidelife · 09/08/2019 21:58

Forgot to add, it's only a 30 min wait

Singinginshower · 09/08/2019 21:58

Success OP! Well done!

ParkheadParadise · 09/08/2019 22:01

That's why I have a snack cupboard Grin.
It have every kind of treat you can imagine.
I always make sure it's stocked up.

RubyRubyRubyRubyAaaaah · 09/08/2019 22:01

Just here to say LTB
Also, stock up on frozen cookie dough (I make it and lob it in the freezer for emergencies. I am childless and not pregnant. I am very lazy)

Howdidido · 09/08/2019 22:01

Yep we are definitely not in the delivery area for that. Looks amazing!

Thanks. I am feeling disproportionately proud of myself for solving this massive and life- altering problem!

Parttimewasteoftime · 09/08/2019 22:02

Great news OP I would be raging no treats when he's out lie in for tomorrow I think 🤔

SAHM2019 · 09/08/2019 22:03

You are being a pregnacy diva. We've all been there and I think its valid. You are at home, heavily pregnant, cant go to the shop because you have a sleeping child in bed... and you want what you want in this moment. I'd be pissed off. But I've also been in this exact predicament and had to just improvise and ended up making a banana and honey smoothie which did the sugar fix for me. Anyway what I'm saying is if no joy finding deliveries, try and impro. And if you cant do that, have a bath and go to bed.

LaurieMarlow · 09/08/2019 22:05

Nice solution OP, well done.

What a lot of nobs there are on here though.

Bettyboopityboop · 09/08/2019 22:10

Next time check if you have a Domino's. They do desserts too.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2019 22:11

Some really pathetic bitches on this thread.

OP, tomorrow go shopping. Buy loads of treats. Don't let dh have any.

pallisers · 09/08/2019 22:13

Only on MN, where expectations of kindness and consideration can be very low.

Thank you for expressing so perfectly what I often feel reading responses on MN - expectations of kindness and consideration can indeed be very low. I often wonder what kind of lives people live that this is their normal.

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 09/08/2019 22:15

In future, you need a secret snack stash for emergencies.

Bettyboopityboop · 09/08/2019 22:16

I often wonder what kind of lives people live that this is their normal.

I assume the nastier ones are bored 12 year olds.

SandAndSea · 09/08/2019 22:17

"it’s not his duty to bring you chocolate and something nice to drink"

shock I hope nobody fills my husband's head with such nonsense!

Yanbu OP.

I was going to write almost exactly this but @leghairdontcare beat me to it! Grin

OP, the good news is that now you know, you can stock up and make sure you're never in this situation again. I'm thinking:

  • A sliced cake at the back of the freezer. (In addition to the usual ice cream, obv.) Maybe add some frozen berries 'for health'.
  • A good quality packet of cake mix at the top of the food cupboard.
  • A bag of nice crisps and a bar of chocolate at the back of your knicker drawer.
beestripey · 09/08/2019 22:18

Nightmare!

Maybe try caramel sauce if you have any cream? Melt sugar and butter in a pan til smooth and bubbling then add cream off the heat. If no cream you could cook until it is toffee.

Then maybe pancakes? with or without caramel sauce!
