How does Jeremy Corbin justify knowing that people will never vote for his party as long as he’s heading it… but he will never leave?

I’m not debating whether people are right to dislike him or not BUT fairly or not he is pretty universally loathed which makes him a bit like being a 3 legged horse at the Derby.

If you're running a party, company, or country people have got to like you or at least deeply respect your talents and if neither is there surely the decent thing is to step aside.

For the life of me I can’t get my head around how anyone could keep doing this to a country they say they love. AIBU?

Corbyn is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. His ego won’t let him stand aside even though it’s best for the Labour Party if they want to have a chance of winning in the next GE. When he was voted in there was a huge influx of Torres joining so they could vote for him effectively making labour unelectable because whether you agree with him or not his views are too far left.
He has let the Tories get away with murder whilst he’s been leader as he hasn’t offered any opposition at all. The amount of scandals that have hit the tories that have gone unchallenged is a disgrace.

monstermunchforlunch · 10/08/2019 10:24

I meant to add that the upside is that I feel more at peace voting for the Lib Dems which in my Tory loving area is the best tactical choice.

Sotiredofthislife · 10/08/2019 10:25

Horrible, disingenuous, fake, narcissistic, vile little oik he is. And those are his GOOD points

For me that describes Boris!

colourlessgreenidea · 10/08/2019 10:38

Plus the fact you can criticise Corbyn while our country is being run by Boris fucking Johnson is outright insane.

It is possible to have little/no regard for both of them. ‘Yeah, but the other one’s worse’ really is damning with faint praise. Someone isn’t beyond reproach for being ‘rubbish but not quite as rubbish’ as another.

Boris Johnson as PM is the open goal already mentioned in this thread - yet Labour are all too busy to appear on tv news to discuss the current state of affairs? Hmm

colourlessgreenidea · 10/08/2019 10:39

For me that describes Boris!

I think that describes Boris for many, many people.

It

colourlessgreenidea · 10/08/2019 10:39

Posted too soon!

It still doesn’t make JC more competent, sadly Sad

yellowallpaper · 10/08/2019 10:40

Thanks to Corbyn I have no one I want to vote for. I'm sorry I just want a moderate fair government, and there is no one

Thymeout · 10/08/2019 10:45

Yes - of course, that fits Boris. And 53% of the electorate say they wouldn't buy a second-hand car from him. BUT twice as many people think that he'll be a better PM than Corbyn. How damning is that?

Deathgrip · 10/08/2019 10:47

I'm sorry I just want a moderate fair government, and there is no one

Labour are not extremely leftwing, not by any stretch. We’ve just been living under neoliberalism for too long so it may seem that way.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 10/08/2019 10:47

I'm Jewish and everyone in my community hates him with a passion. Until anti-Semitism is removed from Labour I would never in a million years vote Labour. Lib-Dem all the way :)

Deathgrip · 10/08/2019 10:49

How damning is that?

It’s certainly damning of the U.K. population...

We need another GE. The reason labour gained so much ground in the last one is that during elections the media actually have to give fair and equal representation rather than the character assassination bullshit they get away with the rest of the time.

TheBigBallOfOil · 10/08/2019 10:50

Tories are not perfect, but the thought of being at close quarters with an individual who can look at Corbyn and think “there goes a good egg” makes me shudder. The man is solely motivated by hate. And so are his supporters. Just look at what they post here. Not pleasant people.

colourlessgreenidea · 10/08/2019 10:51

I'm sorry I just want a moderate fair government, and there is no one

Ditto Sad

Deathgrip · 10/08/2019 10:57

The man is solely motivated by hate

I’m sorry, but how can you justify saying something so absolutely ludicrous?

cultwarning · 10/08/2019 10:58

^^

Deathgrip · 10/08/2019 10:59

And you say the tories “aren’t perfect”?! People are literally dying in this country because of their policies. Working families in abject poverty, reliant on charity and food banks. Disabled people confined to their homes, benefits refused, choosing between heating and food.

Not perfect?

DrierThanANunsNasty · 10/08/2019 11:02

I haven’t RTFT but all these people saying they wouldn’t vote for Labour again... weren’t the previous Labour Leaders just Tories in a red tie? I think it’s refreshing that there’s someone a bit different to vote for and anything HAS to be better than all of the Project Fear politicians we have at the moment.

I’d be interested to know who those hating on Corbyn would vote as a Labour leader instead?

Whyohwhy2019 · 10/08/2019 11:13

YANBU

It is silly those of you who are comparing Corbyn to other former Labour leaders.
Corbyn is the Labour leader whilst the reigning party is being a shambles and in turmoil and still Labour with Corbyn cannot be a credible and stronger opposition.

Other Labour leaders have had to fight a stronger opposition...

The Tories are lucky that Corbyn is the Labour leader. Any other leader and Tories would have had to be worried

I'm utterly disappointed at this failure.

noblegiraffe · 10/08/2019 11:20

I think it’s refreshing that there’s someone a bit different to vote for and anything HAS to be better than all of the Project Fear politicians we have at the moment.

Have you not noticed Boris Johnson being something different? His speeches of optimism and money for the NHS and so on? He is being the living personification of that big red bus.

How does Jeremy Corbin justify knowing that people will never vote for his party as long as he’s heading it… but he will never leave?
Shortstuff99 · 10/08/2019 14:24

People are literally dying in this country because of their policies. Working families in abject poverty

Think you need to look up ‘literally’ and ‘abject’ in a dictionary

There is no abject poverty in the UK, I donated 100 corporate T-shirt’s that we couldn’t use to an orphanage in Africa and for some of the stick thin recipients it was apparently the first brand new item of clothing they had ever received. That’s abject poverty.

As if no one died in the UK when Labour were in power too. Get a grip

malificent7 · 10/08/2019 14:33

I find it funny how wanting a fair society that dosn't rely on nuclear weapons, a royal family and dosn't support Israeli slaughter of Palestinians is touted as far left.
Hardly extreme wanting more equality and compassion is it?

slipperywhensparticus · 10/08/2019 14:37

He is openly sexist against single parents and a bandwagon jumper off the top of my head I cant think why I would vote for him

Hopoindown31 · 10/08/2019 14:41

This is a phase labour have to go through just like in the 80's. Eventually they'll either realise that more centrist politics is needed to win elections or they will shrink into a small left-wing party permanently out of power.

Corbyn and his supporters need to realise that going after the Lib Dems at this time is really doing them no favours.

Shortstuff99 · 10/08/2019 15:37

these things that you mentioned bear no relationship to his position on the political spectrum

Labour’s front bench are hard left as they openly support Marxism, appear to speak under posters of Stalin, quote from Mao in parliament, openly oppose capitalism, back large scale state control of industry, are heavily pro union to the point of being controlled by unions, support punitive taxation on wealth and property such as LVT etc etc

These are hard left political traits / ambitions
