To hide the good stuff?

My family are well catered for and want for nothing. If I have something particularly delicious I tend to squirrel it away and eat it in secret.
Am I a monster?

Mini magnums hidden in a bag that used to contain frozen peas? Not in my freezer...

NatashaRomanov · 08/08/2019 20:57

I have never hidden nice biscuits in my crochet bag. Or Maltesers in the salad draw. A bar of galaxy behind the bottles of sauce that no-one uses...
I have a pre-teen that is forever hungry! I hide my favourite stuff, so she is happy with the other stuff!

MT2017 · 08/08/2019 21:05

I never hide sweets in my car. Or crisps in my desk at work.

And I would not dream of buying Bounty bars simply because DC don't like coconut.

Definitely not.

Good to see other parents don't ever do this type of thing either Halo

Ragwort · 08/08/2019 21:07

mum so true, I treated myself to a nice fillet steak this week as both DH & DS were out, hadn’t realised there were two decent sized ones in the pack so I ate one & generously offered the other to DH the following night, he was beside himself with with excitement that I had been kind enough to buy him a steak Grin. But then he finished off my rather nice bottle of wine that I hadn’t managed to hide properly. Angry

Apolloanddaphne · 08/08/2019 21:08

There are plenty of custard cream and bourbon biscuits in the tin on the counter. No need to go rifling through the tea towel drawer. There are no nice biscuits and chocolates in there.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 08/08/2019 21:11

I never leave nice chocolates in the glove box of my car. I certainly don't keep it basically empty extremely tidy for precisely that purpose...

Frogshoe · 08/08/2019 21:12

I have things hidden everywhere. I have chocolate in a teapot, salad drawer, knicker drawer. Crisps in with the hoover and a bottle of gin in my shoe cupboard Grin

LadyRannaldini · 08/08/2019 21:18

Thank you, thank you, thank you, even I'd forgotten about the rapsberry sorbet under the frozen vegetables. See y'all later!

aintnutinchanged · 08/08/2019 21:25

I once told my daughter that she wouldn't like an apple tturnover because it was to spicy 😂

VioletCharlotte · 08/08/2019 21:32

With two teenage boys, I have to hide anything nice, otherwise it's gone in seconds! I hide my bounty bars in the salad draw (the one place they'll never look), and I may or may not have a pack of chocolate caramel digestives in my wardrobe 😆

LadyRannaldini · 08/08/2019 21:38

Do none of your families ever look in the sald drawer??? Sorbet was delicious but I also found some Tom and Jerry's ice cream.................

RaininSummer · 08/08/2019 21:52

Monstrous people. You will never find chocolate or liquorice in my wool stash.

Wobblywibblywoo · 08/08/2019 21:58

Some cracking ideas on here! My stash of chocolate always gets found Blush

flingingmelon · 08/08/2019 22:03

Excellent thread - feel better about presenting the thank you bottle of wine we were given at family Sunday lunch - but not the matching box of chocolates.

I've hidden them in my tummy.

underthebridgedowntown · 08/08/2019 22:17

Best. Thread. Ever.

(Toblerone in old backpack behind the bedroom door)

Furrydogmum · 08/08/2019 22:30

My mil kept all treats in a combination safe in her bedroom when Dh and his sibs lived at home 😂

BagsBagsandMoreBags · 08/08/2019 22:35

I get it. My heart sinks when I hear the DC shout 'whats this, can I have some?' and I know I'll have to find a new spot.

BagsBagsandMoreBags · 08/08/2019 22:36

In fact I quite vividly remember climbing on the kitchen counter as a child and running my hands along the tops of the cupboards to see if my parents had replenished their stash yet Grin

Cakeandmarshmallows · 08/08/2019 22:41

You won't find chocolate in my knicker drawer or my work bag and the only chocolate in the baking cupboard is basic baking choc!!

I hide savoury food in the salad drawer all the time!!!

Funny to see how often the salad drawer and the baking cupboard are used as hiding places mentioned on this thread!

Outnotdown · 08/08/2019 22:46

I have trained my children that it is EXTREMELY RUDE to open Mammy's handbag. I have important things for work in there and they are not allowed near it

Peanut butter cups, Mars bars, maltesers...... they'll never know

RevealTheLegend · 08/08/2019 23:32

I absolutely do not have chocolate under the frozen peas. There is nota really decent gin at the back of the ice lolly drawer (DH hates ice cream and won’t look there)

I have heard of someone hiding biscuits in a shoebox at the bottom of the Wardrobe but would never stoop to such things. Nor would I hide kitkats in my gym bag. That would be preposterous.

Fromage · 09/08/2019 10:27

Only a very cruel woman would hide the treats in the garage, which is definitely full of tarantulas and man-eating daddy long legs, from their creepy crawly phobic partner.

And only a very, very evil woman, would employ all available tactics to keep said garage fairly bug-free, but tell their partner it's full of wasps and rats and dragons.

So I have never done any of things. Nor said things like "I heard scampering in there earlier" and "what do spiders' eggs look like?" and "I've not opened that tin in years - it's probably a pandora's box of radioactive spiders ready to leap out at me by now." Obviously the tin is definitely full of that, not the nice biscuits.

Cakeandmarshmallows · 09/08/2019 17:20

@Fromage ha ha ha!! That's brilliant!!! I'm going to try the spider excuse one!!

WeirdAndScary · 09/08/2019 17:25

I have heard of a woman who not only keeps chocolate in her gym bag but will occasionally not actually go to the gym but the nice cafe across the road.

If you were to be so rude as to look in my wardrobe, I can guarantee you would not find several packets of dolly mixture, a giant galaxy bar and several boxes of Ritz crackers hidden in the bag were my winter scarfs are kept.....

Because who would do that?

OneMoreForExtra · 09/08/2019 19:00

I used to calmly and maturely stock up with lovely treats to store in the goodie cupboard and share on occasion. I went to get one of the 8 packets of biscuits I'd bought a few days previously when some friends came round for a coffee. Tumbleweed. WFH DH had had one or two but couldn't think where they'd all gone 🤔

A less reasonable woman would spirit away boxes of truffles to her bedside table and slabs of green & black to her work bag, packets of peanuts and crunch bars to her car boot, and put jaffa cakes and chocolate fingers in the biscuit tin but florentines in the dried fruit box.
