...to think she shouldn't be leaving her kids?

I have a friend, who has a boy and a girl aged 9 and 12. The girl has learning difficulties.

She's a single mum, no dad, and works full time- proper full time- out the house 8-6. She's leaving the kids home alone these holidays every day.

I think they're far too young and not remotely sensible enough.

It’s not ideal. But I suspect that she just can’t afford childcare.

But hey, let’s slag off the mother. And not the feckless man who fucked off and left her holding the babies

Well, I am not slagging off anyone, but being left 'holding the babies' isn't really justification for leaving them home alone when they need to be looked after. Absent father doesn't mean the mother should parent any less. Irrespective of how fair that is, it's about putting the children's needs first.

When I was 10 and my sister was 6, we were left home while my mother worked full time. It was fine.

Of course, I have only now started leaving my 10yo for very short periods of time. Mostly 10-15 minutes. Once for 30.

Op, what do you ducking suggest she does?
She has to work to keep a roof over their heads.

You cannot be for real.

What the fuck does aibu mean? Call me a fucktard but I am not that hip.

When I was 3, we had to walk 15 miles to the nursery through mud and snow. When we got there i had to chop wood and get the fire on before getting the nurses tea on to boil. My 5 yr old brother was often out shooting rabbits for lunch before the su came up. Just sayin.
