DH has disappeared and left son at a festival

My DH is a recovering alcoholic and has seemed to be doing really well. He took my 15 year old son to a festival today at the other end of the country. At about 7pm he told my son he was going to the toilet and has not been heard of since. My son has Aspergers and is in the tent really scared. I cannot get there until 11 o’clock tomorrow as they have the car and I will have to get a train. On one hand I am beyond angry but also terrified as he has tried to kill himself when drunk before. I am beside myself with worry. What can I do?

He doesn't know I'm coming and I think he will sleep til I get there. I feel calmer now I am on my way. I won't talk to him as he will be feeling sorry for himself and find a way to blame me. I would like to leave him there but if it upsets DS I will bring him home and think what to do later.

Your poor poor son OP. I hope you get there and find him soon. Teenagers are so sensitive I feel like the repercussions of this will be huge. Good luck, we are all her hoping for the best for you

I hope you have a safe journey, when I read your OP I was horrified as Y Not is so remote so I can imagine your DS was very scared! I would think it’s about 30 mins in a taxi from Buxton to the festival so not too horrendous, my in laws live about 5 mins down the road from there. Good luck!

Oh OP I’m so sorry. I’m glad you’re able to be on your way now - knowing your child is vulnerable and not being able to be there is just awful. My twins are both autistic and I can’t imagine being in this situation when they are older. I think you’ve coped brilliantly.

I really hope your DH wasn’t drinking, and that his phone died and he got lost (giving benefit of the doubt, I don’t know how big the event is - at something large I imagine it’s very possible to lose your tent).
