I don’t want him to but what is the alternative!?

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 26/07/2019 19:55

“Bertrand I'd love to know what a natural Labour voter is.

And don't worry, people are terrified of corbyn, fucking terrified.“

Someone who is politically and philosophically of the left.

What are people terrified of?

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 19:57

I’m not preaching at you @knittedjimmychoos, I’m pointing out that the facts don’t support your narrative. Sorry if that’s inconvenient. You might want to take into account that we had a global financial crisis in 2008 when Blair was long gone.

Ivegotthree · 26/07/2019 19:59

I would vote for him. I think he's doing a brilliant job, which I hadn't expected at all.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 26/07/2019 19:59

I think the Tories would win a GE with Johnson at the helm. People fall for his charisma and he is already announcing vote winning policies (20,000 more police)

Will more of the public be immune to the bullshit now though? He’s become a much more divisive figure. No one can defend his record as foreign sec, it is know he lied about figures on that damned bus in the referendum campaign.
Of course some will fall for it. But will it be enough?

gamerwidow · 26/07/2019 20:00

What are people terrified of?
Is it that he’ll stay Labour leader and we’ll end up with another 4 years of Conservative rule.
Because I’d agree that’s true.

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 20:01

How’s he doing a brilliant job? He’s only had it for 55 hours!

BertrandRussell · 26/07/2019 20:04

“I would vote for him. I think he's doing a brilliant job, which I hadn't expected at all.”

He presumably was polite to the queen and knew the protocol. What else?

Knittedjimmychoos · 26/07/2019 20:04

No sorry also human... My narrative is lived and breathed and many like us.

It was a decline that started under Tony Blair. If you cannot understand a decline I can't help. This is the problem with relying on stats as the whole picture.

There were only 2 food banks under Blair.

Actually, the poverty gap grew, children not raised out of poverty, and a decline in many households leading them to eventually rely on food banks.
I'm not saying the tories have helped, tory Austrey is good, or that credit crunch didn't have a huge impact. But I am saying that labour under Blair plunged many thousands into poverty and he gas lighted them.

Knittedjimmychoos · 26/07/2019 20:08

Bertrand you beautifully illustrate my points a few pages back about strident, proud, labour supporters down a rabbit hole Grin

Most normal labour supporters are well aware of corbyns threat and why people don't want him and don't trust him.

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 20:10

I’m not arguing with some who lives in fantasy land @Knittedjimmychoos. Have a nice evening.

BertrandRussell · 26/07/2019 20:13

“Bertrand you beautifully illustrate my points a few pages back about strident, proud, labour supporters down a rabbit hole grin”

Eh? I’m not a strident, proud labour supporter. I am a labour supporter who will vote labour while holding my nose because it is the least worst option.

I still don’t see why anyone but Labour supporters would be frightened of Corbyn. Anyone else should be delighted that he is destroying the possibility of another labour government in my lifetime.

birdsdestiny · 26/07/2019 20:13

As a life long labour voter I find the anti EU position, the misogyny and the anti semitism frightening.
Saying well the Tories are worse is just so depressing for those who expect more of Labour.

ginghambox · 26/07/2019 20:22

expect more of Labour
What does that mean?

newstart1337 · 26/07/2019 20:23

Once Boris has taken us out of the EU he should probably have an election and he would probably win a majority because remain parties would have to become rejoin the EU parties. How many people are going to vote to rejoin the EU and on what terms? Cant imagine Corbyn would lead the rejoin movement.

It is to late for a vote of no confidence to force an election before the 31st of October because the 'exact' timetabling of any election is controlled by the Prime Minister and he could easily push it into November.

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 20:23

Just what it says. It’s not exactly complex.

ginghambox · 26/07/2019 20:30

Expect them to what ?

Jaffacakebeast · 26/07/2019 20:33

I have never voted Tory, but I think they’d clean up right now, Im politically homeless, always been labour in the past

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 20:34

@ginghambox, I suspect you’re being disingenuous but on the off chance you’re not, any Labour Party I voted for wouldn’t be anti Semitic for a start. HTH.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 26/07/2019 20:44

Reading the Tory versus Labour arguments here, I'd just like to point out that Lib Dems fill most of your boxes.

Just saying.

ginghambox · 26/07/2019 20:45

Not being disingenuous at all but why would anyone " expect more of labour" what does that mean?

ginghambox · 26/07/2019 20:47

Lib Dems fill most of your boxes.
Steady onGrin

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 20:49

It means I expect a party that isn’t racist, sexist or homophobic, that protects the interests of the vulnerable in our society, that is honest and has integrity and is intelligent and competent to run the country effectively. Will that do you @ginghambox or are you going to ask me what that means?

ginghambox · 26/07/2019 20:53

Thank you. So that rules out the current labour party.

BertrandRussell · 26/07/2019 20:53

I expect all that too. AlsoHuman. Sadly in the current climate I have to take what I can get.

Alsohuman · 26/07/2019 20:56

You knew that before you started your disingenuous questioning @ginghambox. As did I. Thing is @BertrandRussell, I can’t hold my nose.
