This is lighthearted but seen lots of threads today about leaving kids alone etc.

Today after a trip out and being exhausted I let my toddler watch TV for about 3 hours!
Whilst my teen had lots of screen time.

I. Also needed some bits at shop and dd was in just a nappy and cba to dress her. So I let my teen (13) sit with her with her whist I ran over.. The shop is in sight..

Im getting take away for the 2nd night in a row.
Both kids have had a fair amount of junk.. Crisps. Cheddars. Cake 2 ice creams and ice lolly.

And I've used my washing machine for such small loads. And re washed the bedding that was washed Tuesday. Because wanted to get as much as I can done and dried before the weekend and dp being off next week to have family time..
And when it cools down I'm going to iron it all lol.

We have been to a paddli g pool 1st thing and local park this eve.

Gave the cleaner the day off as it was too hot, then cleaned the house myself - thought I'd faint by the time I got to mopping.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 26/07/2019 09:30

Laid around naked all evening.

Had chips for dinner - just chips, nothing else - because I had a serious case of CBA and we didn't fancy anything else.

And another well done from me, @Priestess Modwena. I also have finally made my peace with the fact that a family member has changed beyond all recognition and only ever contacts me when they want something. I was helped in this by a phrase I read in another thread on MN - it was something like, "I miss the siblings I once had, but they don't exist any more." I wish I could remember who the poster was - I'd like to thank them.

This post makes me feel so uptight ha ha
I think my anxiety stops me from just letting things slip (what will people think x a million)

So I still went to work, Still went for my run, still cooked proper healthy food, still took DD for swimming lessons, Still wore clothes all day, and hung my washing outside.

Don't have a tumble drier, BF is overseas with our car so had to walk about 15km to work and back in the heat, wanted takeaway but felt too guilty of the people having to work in commercial kitchens in this heat so did salmon and greens for dinner.

I wish my anxiety would let me drop respobnsibility and just relax.

I am sat googling fans and hosepipes when I should be working though- we own neither. Summers seem to be getting hotter so should probably invest...although our little georgian end of terrace does keep fairly cool thankfully

Skyejuly · 26/07/2019 10:25

I honestly dont even think what would other people think. I 🤣

Mrsfrumble · 26/07/2019 10:45

Did not work outside the home in paid employment.

Did a few hours of voluntary stuff at church (with small children in tow) though. Children are currently eating lollipops (the sort with bubblegum in the middle) as compensation for dragged along on said volunteering mission.

We were actually quite active yesterday (swimming / volunteering / meeting DH for lunch), and London was hotter than Satan’s arse crack. I credit living in the southern USA for 3 years for training us to live with heat.

BossAssBitch · 26/07/2019 10:47

This is such a good thread Star

Apart from the people who think using their very environmentally unfriendly tumble dryers on a very hot day is somehow funny. It's not, it's something that thick, ignorant people would do Hmm

YoTheGinPussy · 26/07/2019 11:05

BossyAssBitch I agree. All these people using tumble dryers are putting spiders out of their busy work of beating the shit out of washing with their willies. Up the spiders I say.

Pyjamaface · 26/07/2019 11:21

I've just had shopping delivered so I have 20 ice poles, a box of twisters and a big tub of ice cream. If they last the day it will be a miracle.

Only plan for today is sitting in the shade playing Uno and eating cold things

shitpark · 26/07/2019 11:31

I have let my kids raid the freezer since yesterday and eat what ever they want. But I have tonsilitis and am a single parent, so I think it's excusable

escapade1234 · 26/07/2019 11:37

Not RTFT but did people really post that they used tumble dryers yesterday? When it was 37 degrees out???

I put four loads out yesterday, each one dry in half an hour.

Treaclepie19 · 26/07/2019 12:16

@whothedaddy I have anxiety problems like that too. Unfortunately I ignore them and then just transfer the anxiety into guilt 🙄😒

ethelfleda · 26/07/2019 12:40

I wish my anxiety would let me drop respobnsibility and just relax

I am exactly the same.

ethelfleda · 26/07/2019 12:40

I didn’t give my cleaner the day off though - I did make her an iced latte however!

NaviSprite · 26/07/2019 13:12

I napped when my twin toddlers did rather than do any housework.

Let DH stay in bed all day (he booked it off as holiday - last time he had time off he took over looking after the Twins so I could do a lot of DIY - which he’s crap at lol)

Plonked my twins in front of the TV to encourage them to eat (which I did cook - couldn’t get out of that one 😂) and had the fan on them to keep them cool - they stayed there for a couple of hours 😳

Chased my big long haired cat around with a damp towel as he’s prone to overheating and getting really ill. Nearly passed out trying to get him inside!

Happynow001 · 26/07/2019 13:25

@whothedaddy
BF is overseas with our car so had to walk about 15km to work and back in the heat,
Any possibility of you getting your own car in the future or is this a one-off? Sounds tough on you otherwise.

wanted takeaway but felt too guilty of the people having to work in commercial kitchens in this heat so did salmon and greens for dinner.
Salmon and greens sounds lovely, light, easy/quick to eat and nutritious. However the people in commercial kitchens depend on their work for their wages I suppose - and were still there working, so there was no need for you to feel guilt.

I think my anxiety stops me from just letting things slip (what will people think x a million)
I do recognise this but I try to remember that, in most circumstances outside family/friend relationships people are in their own bubble with their own things going on, and won't care or remember you a nanosecond after they've dealt with you. And if they did so what - it's not like you've committed a major crime... 🌹

Ablemaybel · 26/07/2019 13:32

I'm a house keeper, had one two hour client yesterday morning. Was a killer, by the time I'd finished I looked as though I'd just walked out of the shower. My hair and sundress was soaked with sweat!

Got home and had my 4yr old granddaughter for the afternoon. Put the giant pool out and had a couple of parasols so was in the shade. Spent most of the afternoon layed out full length in the pool using the blow up end as my pillow...bliss! Granddaughter played with her toys.

Can't believe the change in the weather today, we had a storm about 7.30 last night, and we've had a lot of rain today.

QuilliamCakespeare · 26/07/2019 13:38

Didn't have a shower this morning (had two yesterday though).

Let the kids have ice lollies at 10am.

Cried when DS2 headbutted me accidentally.

QuilliamCakespeare · 26/07/2019 13:47

I'm also about to put the tv on for DC because I CANT STAND THE FIGHTING A SECOND LONGER!

redexpat · 26/07/2019 14:07

I called in sick. I woke with a headache and nausea but not quite a migraine. Im certain that had I driven to work in the dazzling sunshine it would have upgraded itself to a migraine. So I rang in sick and slept until 1.30.

purplelass · 26/07/2019 14:37

Had 6 custard creams for my dinner

Bought a second hand bikini on eBay

Stayed at work longer than needed surfing MN to stay in the air con rather than my non-air con car

DeniseRoyal · 26/07/2019 17:27

I havn't worn underwear for 2 days,DD has eaten so much sugar, i'm surprised she isn't stuck to the ceiling, and i'm about to put her in a bath (she's nearly 6) so that i can watch The Crown in peace for an hour 😁

Withnailandaye · 26/07/2019 17:37

I bought some panty liners today but when I got them home I realised (after taking one out) that they were scented so I threw away the whole box.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 26/07/2019 17:41

God - where to start! Got up at 9.45 - kids slept until 11. Screen time ever since, they are breakfast at 12.30 and now I’ve left them home alone 9&11 whilst I go to Lidl for ice cream. Sat in my car reading mumsnet cos I’m waiting for a friend to meet me at Lidl for coffee next door, even though kids are home alone and probably hungry. Am going to buy custard tart from Lidl and have it with coffee and will probably get Chinese takeaway supper. Oh, and I might have a flutter on online casino just to top off my disgusting day of not looking after my tech obsessed, hungry, Ferrel children.

Youhadmeathello1 · 26/07/2019 17:44

Ate a healthy breakfast and lunch and have now just binged on chocolate! Took the dog for a walk, watched 2 episodes of Luther with teenage daughter lying in our pj’s in front of huge fan whilst dog ate her homemade lollipop! Just off to supermarket to it ice cream 🍦

Not everyone has an ‘out’ op!!!
