As a Jew I would absolutely never vote for Corbyn.

fotheringhay · 25/07/2019 17:35

He doesn't look like he's enjoying the job very much. I suspect he's being strongly encouraged to hang on, not sure who's behind it though.

I'll definitely still vote Labour though. One way or another he'll be gone in the next few years

Jillyhilly · 25/07/2019 17:36

Boris has charisma.

He really does.

SinkGirl · 25/07/2019 17:39

Are you kidding?

There are cat poos in my garden with more charisma.

sunglasses123 · 25/07/2019 17:39

Its the thought of him on the world stage. We are going on holiday next month and there are so many potential strikes going on. I could quite imagine him being on the picket lines with all the people going on strike.

I have to say - that BA strike is a disgrace. Holding people to ransom like that. Its either the BA pilots, climate change protestors or Unite. Take your pick. All they do is destroy people's holidays. I will listen to at least the climate change people when the commit to never getting on a plane EVER! Emma Thomson who I love as an actress springs to mind.

Tells people to fly less and east less meat and then literally the next day is photographed in a BA First Class cabin stuffing her face with meat......

HelenaDove · 25/07/2019 17:41

Cinammoncake · 25/07/2019 17:41

Another problem for me is the wanting to get rid of nuclear weapons. I couldn't think of anything worse given the current world political climate.

The80sweregreat · 25/07/2019 17:42

Jilly, he does! I want to really hate him but it's hard to do. Personality wise he has this in spades. If only the next labour leader could be the same !
( I am aware that BJ is a charlatan and a liar etc etc) it's weird.
He even appeared on Eastenders once and im a fan of that soap. It's sad really.

Cinammoncake · 25/07/2019 17:44

helenadove the comments under that tweet are from July 19th. It's great that he went there then but that doesn't alone make up for everything else and mean he's a good candidate for PM

Aroundtheworldandback · 25/07/2019 17:44

As a Jew I would be leaving the country if Corbyn got in, as would many people I know. No reason to start packing yet though.

The80sweregreat · 25/07/2019 17:47

Don't worry, JC will never get to number ten.
I'm convinced of it ; I'm old and seen how these things work.
Not that any of the others are any better.
It's a bit depressing really.

TheBigBallOfOil · 25/07/2019 17:49

All this crap about how he polled well in 2017. It’s two fucking years ago. All I’ve seen in that time is committed labour voters of my acquaintance finding it harder and harder to support him.
I think quite a lot of people would like a reason to go back to labour. They need to kill him off.

ForalltheSaints · 25/07/2019 17:52

Rainbowhairdontcare as someone who had a Jewish branch of the family until the Nazis killed most of them, I will never vote Labour under his leadership either.

The80sweregreat · 25/07/2019 17:53

Killing him is a bit too drastic but they could say his poorly and he could be off within a week. Or less.
It's summer recess time and would be an ideal time to get their act together while the tories are off on holiday too etc.
Leaving it till the autumn is not good and too late.

Thymeout · 25/07/2019 18:10

Sinkgirl Do you really think that no one used the term 'unelectable' before the Thick of It?

It's hardly an original thought. Labour has always had to fight hard to be elected. When choosing a candidate, electability used to be the first thing anyone. thought of. (Now it seems to be whether they agree with Seumas.) I thought we'd all learnt the lesson of Michael Foot and the longest suicide note in political history.

Corbyn had a moment. His sermon on the mount oratory to the tune of Imagine caught up a new generation of idealists and the old lefties, who'd retreated to the SWP and similar, took advantage of the new regs and flocked back to vote for him.

But he's never been more than a figurehead. He's not a leader. He hates Westminster. He knows he's out of his depth. Frankly, he's not bright enough and he's only interested in a narrow range of issues - not so much issues as Causes, because his politics is emotional rather than pragmatic. He's always been anti-EU, but not enough to read up about it.

And his moment has passed. Perhaps if the DUP arrangement had broken down and there'd been another election in 2017? But too much time has elapsed now and even his fans are losing patience with him.

Jillyhilly · 25/07/2019 18:17

All this crap about how he polled well in 2017. It’s two fucking years ago.

Yes exactly. How can anyone seriously think that’s an indicator of how well he’d do at another election?? It’s a lifetime ago in terms of how the political landscape has shifted.

I was a hopeful Remainer in 2017, naively voting for Corbyn because I thought he could do something to stop Brexit. I believe there were quite a few of us who tried that tactic. Seems laughable now, really.

The80sweregreat · 25/07/2019 18:21

My son used to like him but it's all gone off the boil lately.,maybe he connects more with students?

Doobigetta · 25/07/2019 18:36

It’s funny what Corbyn and Johnson have in common. They are both despised and held in contempt by the majority of the country, and conversely their own supporters worship them so much that if either of them was caught murdering babies on film their hardcore fans would blame the media for unflattering camera angles and the rest of us for believing what’s right in front of us. We’re all being held to ransom by a fanatical few at either end.

SinkGirl · 25/07/2019 18:38

I’m not a hardcore Corbyn fan in the slightest, but I can see that he is (by eight million miles) the best option we have right now. But then I have disabled children, am far too familiar with the state of the NHS, and work with people who are hit extremely hard by Tory policies.

Do you really think that no one used the term 'unelectable' before the Thick of It?
Have you seen it? It’s not just about the use of the word.

BloggersNet · 25/07/2019 18:41

I think many of us have moved so far to the right now that his policies seem too far left. MSM doesn't help either. I'd be glad to have a left wing or even centrist government.

wafflyversatile · 25/07/2019 19:37

I get quite confused with the obsession with Corbyn. If you think labour has policies you would like implemented then vote labour. If you prefer Tory policies then vote Tory. I dont get the I wont vote be cause Corbyn is unelectable. Hes one of the most elected mps in government.

Any labour leader left of Margaret Thatcher would be getting the same amount of flack as Corbyn. Not the same particulars but the same level of bullshit and relentlessness.

wafflyversatile · 25/07/2019 19:40

Another problem for me is the wanting to get rid of nuclear weapons. I couldn't think of anything worse given the current world political climate

Plenty of countries do just fine without nuclear weapons.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 25/07/2019 19:47

Why is Corbyn visiting Clyde House? Seriously - I know it's a very worthy cause and all, but he should be doing his fucking job and it just gives me the impression he's doing anything he can to avoid it. It's like when he pissed off to the refugee camp and it was a transparent excuse to snarl 'I was at a refugee camp' whenever he was asked why he hadn't gone to the important anti-Brexit rally (I think it was). Either he doesn't understand his role as LotO or he just wants photo-ops to get him out of what he should really be doing which is providing an opposition, co-ordinating his party, giving direction, setting the agenda. I get that it's probably boring and hard but tough, he's getting £130k a year for it.

I'm going to have to point out that I've seen him at 14 rallies and he is a really bad public speaker - shouty, snuffly and says the same thing every time. The low point was the supposedly EU campaign rally when he didn't mention it but waffled on about bloody Thatcher instead.

The80sweregreat · 25/07/2019 19:59

Corbyn is better off on the back benches.
Its his real home.

NoTheresa · 25/07/2019 20:02

Of course Boris has charisma. Denying that is futile.
