To be pissed off that she keeps dumping clothes on me?

A lady I know asked me a while ago what size my kids were in as she had some clothes that were too small and wanted to give them to me. My kids already have too much so I said no thankyou, but she insisted.

Today I have come home from work to find 6 bags of clothes in varying ages by my door. The majority are stained, have holes in, faded and smell damp. I literally could have cried when I got home. The local skip in our area is only open 1 day per week and its closed by the time I get home from work. I cant give it to charity, its not fit for anyone to wear.

I feel ungrateful but why the hell would anyone give someone clothes in that state? I dont know what to do with it all! AIBU?

@LongIslandTea60 what did you do in the end?

Cantstopeatingchocolate · 25/07/2019 13:50

We’ve recently received lots of clothes from a family member for our 2yo
In general they are in good condition and the right size but not really needed....I buy a size up in the sales and store it til it fits. I don’t wait cos I don’t know if this family member will offer the same amount of stuff next year so I buy when I see it.
We’ve kept the nicest bits and are taking the rest to charity
I do have a problem with all the toys tho. I’m overrun as I have an older DCs old toys and genuinely don’t have the room for all this extra stuff
I emphasise with you OP. Even stuff given in kindness can overrun your house leaving you with a huge job to clear out.

OP isn’t coming back, I feel over invested

MrsGeneGenie · 26/07/2019 23:15

Ffs OP everyone has taken the time to read your post and has given you numerous ideas of what to do next , so please can you at least let us know how the drama was drawn to a close !!!!!

Triskaidekaphilia · 26/07/2019 23:50

What about saying "Ah, glad you understand they're not needed. I'll pop them back to you tomorrow. :)" ?

OooErMissus · 27/07/2019 02:19

This is just one of those venting threads, where the OP is annoyed about something but doesn't actually have the gumption to deal with it, so aerates on here while doing sweet FA in real life.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 27/07/2019 12:24

@LongIslandTea60 - Do you have any update on this? What did you decide to do in the end??? Please come back and let us know what you did with the clothes

WillLokireturn · 29/07/2019 17:42

This is just one of those venting threads..

That's ok though. OP did say she's decides what to do. Whilst it's be luvverly to find out update of what @LongIslandTea60 did do in the end and how it all turned out, she doesn't have to. She told us enough and said thankyou for the suggestions.
