I think it's used by respondents who are trying to add a serious contribution whilst acknowledging the presumed intentionally goady undertones of the original post.

I have never once thought of it as sexist honeysuckle. It's just a way of showing you're talking about the 'everyman', sorry, person. An average person, someome we all know. You're seeing it as a middle aged woman. Some people look for offence where none is intended, it must be exhausting to be permanently offended.
