"OK, I'll bite" ?

It's one of those mysterious MN phrases that no one would use in real life. It sounds so pompous. The question wasnt aimed directly at you, Sharon!

Just eff off with your biting.

Has anyone used "did you mean to be so rude?" IRL? I'd actually love to use it just to see the response it illicits on someone's face.

When someone describes someone else as 'a -whatever insult- of the highest order'
Hate it!

Signhereplease · 12/07/2019 21:50

O.K I'll bite, my most hated is

"Are you me?"

NoAngel1 · 12/07/2019 21:50

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult That made me laugh out loud!

Pomegranatemolasses · 12/07/2019 21:52

@falafelaboutit, totally agree with the "midwife here"; "teacher here" style comments. Really irritate me!

Pomegranatemolasses · 12/07/2019 21:53

And just showed DH this thread and he said..."

origamiunicorn · 12/07/2019 21:53

*I'm in my 30s btw but I find the assumption that middle aged women are over sensitive, stupid and rude to be really fucking awful.

If you're in your thirties you're middle aged too, Amanda*

30 isn't middle aged. Unless you are planning on dying at 60.

ShatteredBrianne · 12/07/2019 21:56

"Are you me?"

As @Margotshypotheticaldog brilliantly put, I am Brianne and my wife is Brianne Grin

OP posts:
PinkieTuscadero · 12/07/2019 21:57

30 isn't middle aged but 39 sure is. 36 is too in my book.

ShatteredBrianne · 12/07/2019 21:58

I find the assumption that middle aged women are over sensitive, stupid and rude to be really fucking awful.

The irony being that was the Posters assumption. Says more about them really.

PinkieTuscadero · 12/07/2019 21:58

Middle aged woman acting as self-appointed defender of middle aged women gets annoyed when it's pointed out she too is middle aged woman.

'Woah, I defend them but I sure as hell ain't one of them' said Amanda, 36, from Newton-le-Willows.

cherriesandoranges · 12/07/2019 22:01

@origamiunicorn 😂😂😂 ah brilliant! Hahahaha

ShatteredBrianne · 12/07/2019 22:01

Grin Pinkie

cardibach · 12/07/2019 22:02

Pinkie neither 39 nor 36 are middle aged. Don’t be ridiculous.

ShatteredBrianne · 12/07/2019 22:03

Got a few biters on this thread

OP posts:
HoneysuckIejasmine · 12/07/2019 22:04

Shattered I think the point of the meme has gone over your head.

PinkieTuscadero · 12/07/2019 22:09

What is ridiculous about considering 39 to be middle aged? Confused

AnnabelleBronstein · 12/07/2019 22:13

Give your head a wobble, OP.

^

That’s mine. Never heard it anywhere else.

FattyPedalsFuriously0hPipNo · 12/07/2019 22:14

I hate precious ones, like the other day;

'AIBU my children have a tan' Hmm

I thought it was a joke thread, shocked to read equally precious answers.

ShatteredBrianne · 12/07/2019 22:24

Honey I just don't get offended by everything on social media. I've seen ones where a guys name has been used. Don't see it as cause for offence.

OP posts:
ShatteredBrianne · 12/07/2019 22:25

Unless you're saying it's only sexist when a woman's name is used? Hmm

OP posts:
SemperIdem · 12/07/2019 22:33

I hate the “dear/darling” element attributed to family members names on here, I don’t use them myself.

Not least because if I’ve gone to the trouble of starting a thread about the person, odds are high that they have been very far from “dear/darling”.

MillicentMartha · 12/07/2019 22:39

‘That really gets my goat,’ on a thread a while back denigrating the ‘professionally offended’ who happened to be parents of DC with SN. Hence lots of jokes about goats and where one might keep them.

Keep up!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 12/07/2019 22:40

As somebody in her early 50s I Thank You @Honeysuckle

I do not have any of those names though . I do have one made popular in the late 60s , for a short while .

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 12/07/2019 22:41

Omg pinkie you've just made me realise that a certain middle aged man I know must be a mumsnetter! He totes used the word cockwomble in a FB post the other day! 😂
