To ask what a classy tattoo is?

Ok, please don’t shoot me down this is an honest question from an obviously out of touch person. ( name changed obviously)
But what the hell do people mean when they say that a tattoo is classy or amazing art work??
I see them everywhere but have never seen anything that I would say was attaractive on flesh.
They are various degrees of quality of art work yes but classy nope.
On another thread people were saying they had high quality tattoos but what does that even look like? Surely to anyone judging a tattoo is a tattoo I e a permanent mark on your body?
I would assume people like David beckham and Robbie Williams must have the higher quality tattoos? Basic As they have the money ? But to many people they would be judged poorly in a few real life settings. I would not personally say I like the look.
Sorry but pondering the consequences of not being aware of a difference and wondering if judgments are being made on artwork quality Within the tattooed population and the non tattooed are just judging any tattoo?
Explane probably photos required here.
Sorry about typos struggling with iPad tonight

@SlightlyPsychotic It's impulsive behaviour, something tattooed people are more likely to indulge in. Instant Gratification not thinking long term, which also explains why more educated people choose not too, they plan ahead!

propolythenecarpets · 15/07/2019 15:23

soapona

you need to get a grip.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/07/2019 15:39

Crackpot 😂😂😂

soapona · 15/07/2019 15:44

@TrendyNorthLondonTeen yeah like the Emperors New Clothing where you're the sheep.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 15/07/2019 15:50

ike the Emperors New Clothing where you're the sheep

I dont think there is a sheep in that story

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/07/2019 15:55

@soapona you're either a master troll or nuttier than squirrel shit. Get help.

SlightlyPsychotic · 15/07/2019 15:56

@soapona more educated people haha!

Most of us think long term. So i'll be an old lady with tattoos? so what. We'll all have wrinkly, saggy skin by that point so no one's skin will look better than the other. I just don't understand your point other than to try and belittle those who have tattoos or at least make yourself seem more 'classy'.

For what it's worth i got my first tattoo at 18, and as the years have gone by I haven't regretted it. Not once. They're all able to be covered if it were necessary but i've yet to come across a workplace where they have judged me because of my tattoos. So i'm clearly working for the right kind of people.

Tweetingmagpie · 15/07/2019 15:57

I like tattoos but I don’t think it’s possible for them to be classy. You can be a classy person and also have tattoos but a tattoo in itself does not look classy or make anyone look classy, IMO.

Teacakeandalatte · 15/07/2019 15:59

Piper's Trust no Bitch prison tattoo from OITNB.

Readytogogogo · 15/07/2019 16:07

Goodness me, this thread is astonishing. I knew that some people disliked tattoos but had no idea of the clearly visceral disgust that they seem to provoke...far be it from me to suggest that some of you need to get a bloody grip.

I suppose I'll have to give up my professional job now and take up something more appropriate to my clearly underclass status.

soapona · 15/07/2019 16:07

@TrendyNorthLondonTeen please refer to my earlier posts about research done into people with tattoos more likely to be requiring psychiatrist care. I don't give a toss about appearing classy, but let's get real. Are you seriously trying to tell me tattoos can be classy and they are not judge a badge of belonging to a certain class, even if you're are upper middle class then it's like inverted snobbery which is pathetic as pulp said "you'll never live like common people".

soapona · 15/07/2019 16:11

I'm not trying to offend. Although I'm being called nuts on here. Let's get real here they are not classy and because some people think they're trashy and won't employ you. It your choice to do this. You're wanting attention getting a tattoo.

Branleuse · 15/07/2019 16:12

If youre worried about which ones are classy rather than which you actually like, then dont get one.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/07/2019 16:20

@soapona because you're just rambling now and making no sense.

SlightlyPsychotic · 15/07/2019 16:24

you're not trying to offend? @soapona but then you're telling us anyone with a tattoo is wanting attention? what about us who cover up and don't have them on show for everyone to see.

You're literally screaming out for attention by degrading others for having tattoos.

soapona · 15/07/2019 16:57

@SlightlyPsychotic Why don't you have an interesting debate and tell me about your classy, subtle tattoos with deep sentimental meaning, that's actually art or the usual talk. Rather than being personal because my views are different from yours?

soapona · 15/07/2019 16:59

@TrendyNorthLondonTeen sorry below was meant for you.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/07/2019 17:04

What the fuck are you on about 😂😂😂

SlightlyPsychotic · 15/07/2019 17:08

@soapona i'm so done with this shit now i don't even understand what tripe you're coming out with. Maybe because i'm not educated enough or maybe because you're full of shit.

@TrendyNorthLondonTeen we clearly aren't to her standards haha.

CruCru · 16/07/2019 16:44

I once briefly dated someone (in my early twenties so twenty years ago) who was quite taken aback by my lack of tattoos. I think I was the only person he’d met for a while who didn’t have one. At one point he even said that I was morbid because I’d said I didn’t want anything permanent on my body.

CruCru · 16/07/2019 16:44

Sorry, there was a poster upthread who said that tattooed people aren’t funny about non tattooed people. Sometimes they are.

Lovingthesunshine88 · 16/07/2019 16:55

I'm personally not a huge fan of tattoos but my DM wanted one at 62 as she wants to try everything Confused we designed matching tattoos so completely unique to us and have them on the side of our wrists (only small) and i love them. Have and will never have any regrets. It's something I'll always look at and remember a great day out with DM

SlightlyPsychotic · 16/07/2019 16:55

@CruCru sorry i didn't mean to offend, just tried to show how it's usually those without tattoos judging those with. Trying to prove a point to the previous poster.

Lovingthesunshine88 · 16/07/2019 16:57

I don't think tattoos are classy but I'd never have one that wasn't meaningful. Mine is very meaningful and will be a memory I'll always look at that will make me smile ❤

gubbsywubbsy · 16/07/2019 17:02

I have 3 tiny stars on my wrist , they are for my family .. I can easily cover them but I like to look at them . I am a bit chubby and would not want to bring attention to my chubbiness by having one on a limb . 😬
