Just sitting here reading some of the old threads, and I sometimes just laugh out loud at some of the posts. The way some posters response to threads is so funny, the DCs will look at me confused " mum why are you laughing? " Blush anyone else do this?

OP posts:
Fabuleuse · 12/07/2019 14:01

I genuinely did belly laugh at a post the other day. It was about Facebook stalking fails and the poster had been looking up an old school friend and accidentally tagged herself in a photo as the friend's baby. It still makes me laugh thinking about it. No spat tea or babies awoken though.

endofthelinefinally · 12/07/2019 14:02

I have had a really good laugh on the cake thread on FWR this morning. Brilliant.Grin

Ivegotthree · 12/07/2019 14:06

God no. I only laugh out loud when something is properly properly funny, and that usually is from talking to friends and family.

Babdoc · 12/07/2019 14:09

I’ve often had to spit my tea back into my mug to avoid choking, while snorting with laughter at some of the great threads on MN.
As well as the ones mentioned by PPs, do any of you remember the one about the ex DH who lived in the woods and fed roadkill badger to his DC? It was hilarious!

DoneLikeAKipper · 12/07/2019 14:15

Can someone explain how 'snapped and farted' was funny?

It wasn’t funny. It was a juvenile, piss poor trolling attempt. Unfortunately, like ‘penis beaker’, that went over most people’s heads, so now any thread like this or anything remotely related to ‘snapping’ descends into the usual bollocks of it’s supposed hilarity. ‘Snapped and farted!! Snapped and farted!!!!!’, so fucking tedious Hmm.

73kittycat73 · 12/07/2019 14:21

accidentally tagged herself in a photo as the friend's baby

See, that made me lol. Grin Thanks Fabuleuse

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2019 14:22

Penis Beaker was bizarre, made up nonsense and yet everyone thought it was hilarious.

There was a time when every other post was 'cancel the cheque!' which got really boring really quickly, and I don't think I ever read the thread it came from.

ShirleyPhallus · 12/07/2019 14:27

accidentally tagged herself in a photo as the friend's baby

Yes just reading the recount of this had me giggling

It doesn’t happen very often. There was one thread which was “stupid things you did as a child” which had me laughing a lot. But otherwise, I find the more posts with laughing emojis the less likely I am to find it funny.

Poo and farting stuff I do not find funny even a bit. Agree penis beaker and snapped and farted were made up for effect, for sure

Purpletigers · 12/07/2019 14:28

The burlesque name one had me in stitches . I’m easily amused and don’t get out much .

bingbongnoise · 12/07/2019 14:32

Snapped and farted was not funny.

Penis beaker was ludicrous and obviously made up.

People saying they spat their tea out on the keyboard as they found something soooooooo funny really pisses me off. No you didn't.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 12/07/2019 14:34

I laughed out loud the other day when a poster referred to an unreasonable husband as a "cocksmack". Also on the "When did you laugh until you cried" thread, a poster recounted going to the ballet and one of the male dancers' tights split while he was doing a leap. The image she conjured up of his jockstrapped junk bobbing about outside his tights while he carried on regardless had me in fits.

Obviously anything to do with cocks sets me off. But I've never pretended to be particularly mature.

DoneLikeAKipper · 12/07/2019 14:35

I did, it really wasn’t noteworthy. Poster gave friend a wedding gift of money, it wasn’t enough for the ‘cheeky fucker’ IIRC, cue a million cross posts of ‘just cancel the cheque you sent and leave her with nothing’. Of course, that sent later posters into a frenzy with ‘have you cancelled the check yet OP, lolololol’, and yet and another twatty MN idiom was born.

bumblingbovine49 · 12/07/2019 14:38

Occasionally I do really laugh so.much I almost cant breathe but not very often. I do chuckle to myself quite a lot though.

I.cant actually remember the ones that Mae me.laugh a lot but I remember the laughing itself

bumblingbovine49 · 12/07/2019 14:42

Oh yes the road kill.badger one did make me laugh as did the ' snapped and farted' one. Even if they are made up, that doesn't make me feel like I was cheated or anything. The amazing feeling and lift you get from that sort of laughing is enough of a reward that I don't care if it was made up really.

Penis beaker I didn't find funny, just sort of weird.

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2019 14:44

Yoni massage anyone? That was another that just made me Confused

bumblingbovine49 · 12/07/2019 14:51

For me the ' snapped and farted' comment was so funny because of the incongruity of the comment.. it was something about the op being annoyed with her DH over something mundane and she was so annoyed she snapped and farted'. It was unexpected in the sentence and looked ike a typo of some sort but I couldn't work out what so that made me laugh. When the op said it wasn't a typo it just made me laugh more. In fact I am chuckling as I think about it again . I can't explain more than that. Humour is a funny thing and not everyone shares the same one.

Sparklingbrook · 12/07/2019 14:54

Snapped I get, because you might snap at someone. Farted makes no sense whatsoever so if it wasn't a typo that is just weird.
So sometimes she just farts at him and no snapping? Confused

I don't think the thread stands up to close scrutiny maybe.

Hearthside · 12/07/2019 14:56

No tea spitting here i love my mug tea it not getting spat anywhere and if i was howling with laughter to point i couldn't breathe that would trigger my asthma and cause an attack so that def not happing .I have chuckled at a few but def no belly laughs.

Ineedtoknowit · 12/07/2019 14:57

“Spat my tea everywhere” or “dh is looking at me confused at why I’m laughing so much” make me want to spit tea at them, it’s so annoying and obviously not true, just an mn cliche

OdeToDiazepam · 12/07/2019 17:29

I do at some of the witty replies yes

Lovesabadboy · 12/07/2019 19:19

Yes, I have Mutley-Sniggered a lot over the years!

I have never woken my husband up, but I don't use MN on my phone, so never been on it in bed; but he has often looked Hmm at me when I am on the laptop in the lounge and my shoulders are shaking and I am Mutley-ing and trying to hold in a snort!

No tea/coffee spitting though.
I did once laugh at something a friend posted on FB whilst drinking my wine and the wine did come down my left nostril - so it does happen and it did bloody hurt!

MerryBerryCheesecake · 12/07/2019 19:48

I did suddenly laugh so hard that tea very forcefully shot out of pretty much every facial orifice once but it was years ago, nothing to do with the internet and everything to do with brothers friend who was a very funny chap.

Fucking painful, especially the down the nose bit and choking, and very much to be avoided.

icecreamsundae32 · 13/07/2019 22:21

Just read one in classics about household appliances being pricks gave me a few mutley sniggers at irons that shit all over white shirts Grin and the one about fatballs!

ThomasFurious · 13/07/2019 23:19

I would love to cry with laughter at a thread, but it hasn't happened in nearly 8 years.

This - I used to.

DickZillaofTheVilla · 16/07/2019 18:11

I have tears rolling down my face from laughing at the Mugshot behind the counter in Boots thread right now
