Just sitting here reading some of the old threads, and I sometimes just laugh out loud at some of the posts. The way some posters response to threads is so funny, the DCs will look at me confused " mum why are you laughing? " Blush anyone else do this?

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 11/07/2019 18:36

It also makes me wonder where these howlers and drink spitters are when they're Mumsnetting?

I'd hate to think they were sat on a train or something Confused

pigglypug · 11/07/2019 18:37

Ha yeah I came on to say the same as everyone else, I've never "laughed so much I spat my tea out". A hearty chuckle maybe at a particularly amusing thread, but that's about it...

WorraLiberty · 11/07/2019 18:39

But it's the same when something's a tiny bit sad.

People try to outdo each other at how much the thread made them 'cry all day'.

And the 'weepers'...God don't start me on those who 'weep'.

It's all far too theatrical for me Grin

Wafflecopter · 11/07/2019 18:39

I laughed at probably two threads in the years I’ve been on here and I can’t remember them now.
I don’t drink enough tea, I should as it seems to make people more prone to fits of laughter.

pigglypug · 11/07/2019 18:42

Yes @WorraLiberty I remember one who "hadn't slept all night" because she was worrying about some stranger's baby on a thread. Seemed a bit far-fetched...

ilovesooty · 11/07/2019 18:44

Oh yes the worriers and weepers

And "raging on your behalf OP".

Lovestonap · 11/07/2019 18:44

there was one that had me genuinely laughing, something about church groups and ABCD. Can't remember much now, but the way everyone started taking the piss made me laugh. I think it normally says something about the mood the reader is in rather than the quality of the comedy though. I think I was drunk and alone......

BenWillbondsPants · 11/07/2019 18:46

I have had a good laugh in the past (no spitting my tea out or falling off my chair). There have been some very funny posters on here over the years, but I can't remember the last time I really laughed at a post. There's a lot of snippiness and willingness to be offended at every turn.

There is also quite a large cohort of posters who seem desperate to piss on a posters chips just for the hell of it. I don't remember it being like that 8/9 years ago. It's weird.

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 11/07/2019 18:46

The thread on here atm about June the femme fatale and parsnips made me laugh out loud just now.

A lot of threads make me laugh out loud- maybe I’m too easily amused.

DramaAlpaca · 11/07/2019 18:46

I'll happily admit that I do, very occasionally, laugh out loud at things on here. Only in the privacy of my own home, of course Wink

Crying though, or getting over-invested, never.

Mollypolly2610 · 11/07/2019 18:47

I first read MN when I worked in an office and used to sit and read at lunchtime. I often had to snigger like Mutley at some of the threads but never spat anything onto my laptop. Best one for making me snigger was “I pooed on my skirt “

bellagood · 11/07/2019 18:48

Yeah, I don't buy it that people laugh out loud, spit their tea out onto their keyboard, and wake their family with their roaring laughter etc etc...

However, some posts/poster do give me a chuckle.

Often unintentionally!

Like the title of a thread from earlier today...

Over the moon my DP has finally took his balls out of Mummy's handbag and told her where to go...

Grin

I think it was he word 'mummy' that did it for me! Grin But it was a funny title anyway!

Abouttoblow · 11/07/2019 18:48

I laughed out loud at the thread with "Suzi Quatro's fat nan". I go back once in a while when I need a laugh.

bellagood · 11/07/2019 18:50

TYPO. I meant.....

I think it was THE word 'mummy' (not he word)! that did it for me! Grin But it was a funny title anyway!

longearedbat · 11/07/2019 18:51

I think some posters are very good at posting witty or apt remarks. I always appreciate that. I am the type of person who thinks of a witty or apposite comment days later, when it's no longer relevant. Some of the posts in classics are funny, but for me it is more of a snigger than lol.

LOL. Grin Who was the poster on about though? Who looked like Suzi Quatro's fat nan?

colourlessgreenidea · 11/07/2019 18:56

I once guffawed my spleen right out after reading a typo on here. True story.

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 11/07/2019 19:00

Yes I do!!! Grin

HeronLanyon · 11/07/2019 19:07

I have laughed out loud. Usually in the middle of long thread and unexpectedly something is very funny. Not usually meant.

PinkGlitter123 · 11/07/2019 19:14

I have a few times mainly at the threads talking about embarrassing/awkward moments !

Kilpitlees · 11/07/2019 19:16

You need to read the Pom Bears thread in classics ... guaranteed howling and tea spitting!

Abouttoblow · 11/07/2019 19:17

Bellagood

It was a thread about buying clothes, hairstyles or beauty items and then being disappointed. Poster said she saw this amazing leather biker jacket she just had to have and when she looked in the mirror she looked like Suzi Quatro's fat nan. Another got a pixie cut and her hair dyed red. She looked like a fat match Grin The whole thread was hilarious. It's in Classics but I can't think of the title just now.

Jemima232 · 11/07/2019 19:18

I didn't find the Sistine Chapel thread funny.

The one about naming a baby Balonz made me laugh. But not to the point of needing my asthma inhaler.

Some posters have a very good ability with comedic writing.

bellagood · 11/07/2019 19:22

The Sistine Chapel one was pretty funny. Grin
