Nurse commenting on house

BellyAching19 · 11/07/2019 12:37

My neighbour had a community nurse around today while I was there. When the nurse walked in she commented on my neighbours photo on the wall of a dog and asked who the dog is/was. Neighbour told her. She then used the bathroom and came out saying it was a beautiful bathroom!! Neighbour thanked her. As she was leaving she commented on a painting on the wall and asked her who had painted it.

AIBU to think healthcare professions shouldn’t comment on people’s houses? What does she say if she walks into a shithole?

Sigh

Spudina · 11/07/2019 12:41

I'm a nurse. Get a life. She was just making conversation.

Nanny0gg · 11/07/2019 12:41

Passing the time of day and being pleasant, surely?

Itcouldhappentoyou · 11/07/2019 12:41
Biscuit
SylviaAndSidney · 11/07/2019 12:42

What even...

Stefoscope · 11/07/2019 12:42

Sounds like she was just making conversation, it's generally a positive thing to compliment people on these sorts of things. I'm sure she has enought tact know not to rock up to someone's house and declare it a shit tip inhabitted by pigs!

Readytogogogo · 11/07/2019 12:42

Why do you care? It wasn't even your house. Sounds like she was just being kind/ having a chat.

Coconutsandcobbles · 11/07/2019 12:43

She's being nice.

popehilarious · 11/07/2019 12:44

What does she say if she walks into a shithole?

Probably comments on the pictures on the wall and says the bathroom is beautiful

longwayoff · 11/07/2019 12:44

You're discussing your neighbour on an internet forum. Which do you think is worse?

QueenofPain · 11/07/2019 12:44

Get a bloody grip on yourself. The nurse is a human, not a robot.

Whatsforu · 11/07/2019 12:44

Oh really!!! She was doing her job, putting the person at ease making general conversation. Honestly I despairConfused

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2019 12:44

Would you prefer a robot?

She’s human, she’s making conversation.

Nothing wrong with that.

UpToonGirl · 11/07/2019 12:44

She sounds lovely, like she's building a bit of rapport with her patients. I would imagine if she did visit somewhere messy/dirty she just wouldn't mention it.

I find it strange you think this is odd tbh.

Sammi38 · 11/07/2019 12:44

What’s your issue with this?

Why shouldn’t she comment on a nice painting?

Blue565 · 11/07/2019 12:45

Probably comments on the pictures on the wall and says the bathroom is beautiful

Grin Grin Grin

QueenofPain · 11/07/2019 12:46

I still daydream about one day having a house like one I visited on a community placement as a student nurse. Beautiful William Morris wallpaper and panelling, a huge hallway and all kinds of lovely things.

Meanmate · 11/07/2019 12:46

There is literally no pleasing some people. God help us.

Windygate · 11/07/2019 12:46

My DM is housebound and the Community Nurse pops in a couple of times a week to do dressings etc. I've often heard them chatting to DM about things in or about the house, they are just making conversation and judging how DM feels today. It's a normal part of getting to know the patient.

daisypond · 11/07/2019 12:46

She sounds nice. Building a rapport and putting people at ease are part of nursing, surely.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 11/07/2019 12:46

log it with 111

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2019 12:46

I suppose she also would say the same thing in a shithole.

A compliment isn’t always true.

So yes, lighten up and no need to bellyache about it.

QueenofPain · 11/07/2019 12:47

Also, the nurse using a patients bathroom is a compliment of the highest order. Some houses it’s safer not to wash your hands.

Cuppa12345 · 11/07/2019 12:47

Ahaha, what on earth?

FirstTimeToddlerMum · 11/07/2019 12:48

Ffs. If it was me or a relative that had a nurse visiting for any reason I'd want someone who made pleasant conversation. They're not robots Hmm
