In your opinion. Just interested.

Driving a huge car when you don't have a large family

I drive large 4x4 but have the audacity to be childfree, it's DH and me, and he has his own car! I do however have horses and dogs and live rurally and probably have more need for a 'huge car' than most people with kids Grin

According to my DM:

Chip butties.
The word butties.
Jam sandwiches.
Children being allowed fizzy drinks regularly.
Saying “scon” not “sco-own”.
Laughing at farts.
Discussing bodily functions in public.
Baked beans as part of your main meal. (They were acceptable on toast for a light lunch only).
Carrying stuff other than grocery shopping in carrier bags.
Tattoos.
Smoking.

There were multiple other things too - so many I’ve forgotten most of them!

malificent7 · 16/07/2019 13:28

Awww bless.

LolaSmiles · 16/07/2019 13:37

I tick quite a few more boxes now
According to my DM:
Eating soup with a dessert spoon
Eating on the couch (but who calls it a couch it's a sofa)
Having your fork in your right hand
Ketchup
Drinking from a can/bottle
Diluting juice
Calling diluting juice squash
Drinking soup from a cup
Calling dessert pudding
Wearing sports clothes when not doing sports

I'd have said some of these were working class markers rather than common though.

Common would be the diamante studded dummies I saw on the market place in town last weekend.

sionnachbeag · 16/07/2019 13:39

According to my DM:

Watching ITV.
Eating dinner from your knees in the living room.
Smoking in the street.
Pot noodles/cuppasoups
Women with tattoos.

Iamnotagoddess · 16/07/2019 13:45

Serving Frozen Chicken Kievs.

Taking top off in public (men)

Spitting, swearing loudly in public, eating in the street, watching soaps, shopping in Primark.

Not having table manners, leaving the table before everyone has finished.

Talking loudly about your sex life.

Not dressing for the occasion.

woodhill · 16/07/2019 13:54

I'm bigger than a c/d cup and make sure I wear a strapless bra if a top or dress is stroppy. Looks better imo

dottypotter · 16/07/2019 14:29

tattoos.

Eustasiavye · 16/07/2019 17:48

Apart from elderly people, do people still have nets?
Other than in very old houses owned by very elderly folk, I haven't noticed any net curtains.

PooWillyBumBum · 16/07/2019 17:57

@CoffeeRunner - Mary Berry is obvs common as much as she says scone, rhyming with gone.

@LolaSmiles it’s definitely pudding rather than dessert, so you’re not as common as you think you are ;)

I’m finding this thread hilarious. I’ve usually done at least half a dozen common things by lunchtime.

NoTheresa · 16/07/2019 18:00

Mary Berry’s pronunciation of scone is correct.

Ivy40 · 16/07/2019 18:12

Wasn’t there a similar thread recently. Something about it not being possible not to be common if you have a Northern accent. Think it got deleted.

I have a Northern accent.

Ivy40 · 16/07/2019 18:13

Hmm. Think it depends on what the tattoo is and where it is.

Some of them are beautiful.

Ivy40 · 16/07/2019 18:29

@Lolwhat

I’ve seen that. How is it not obvious that it’s a chest OF drawers. Drawers in a chest...

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 16/07/2019 20:38

I have a northern accent and get called posh 🤷🏼‍♀️ possibly because it's not broad anything and I don't have a pinpointable accent. Just not southern with Rs in places they shouldn't be Grin According to my ex's dad I have dulcet tones 😂

Ivy40 · 16/07/2019 20:40

@DtPeabodysLoosePants

Rs in places they shouldn’t be 😂😂😂

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 16/07/2019 20:45

And I have Ts, Hs, and Gs where they should be.

MonSacEstDu31RueCambon · 16/07/2019 23:09

Rs where they shouldn't be?!

Hmm, like when people from the south of England say lore and awduh instead of law and oRdeR?

ethelfleda · 17/07/2019 09:15

I’m missing most of my Rs having a midlands accent. I noticed it more recently as DS’ (20 months) vocabulary has started to increase. His current favourite toy is his ‘Tracta’ Blush

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 17/07/2019 11:09

No as in Barth and larf and graarrs instead of Bath, laugh and grass.,

ThighsRelief · 17/07/2019 21:44

I AM THIGH

I AM THE EMPEROR

YourVagesty · 17/07/2019 22:34

What is this turnip-eating in the cinema business? Where is this happening, and more importantly, why?

StrikeItLuckyShuffle · 17/07/2019 23:07

✋🏻I’m east end cockney and have tattoos
I dress and look Like a classy 1950s lady until I open my mouth
Drop all my H’s 😁😁

DanglyWhoreTassels · 18/07/2019 09:38

Thigh you are definitely not common! Emperors can never be common, even when they have no clothes on!

ThighsRelief · 18/07/2019 09:40

I WILL DECIDE WHAT IS COMMON

NOTHING
