🤷‍♀️ So it is real life! 😮😫

I bought four lovely cushions to live on my bed when not in use; in real life they live on the floor because I’m too lazy to make my bed neatly in the morning.

So....YANBU for real life but for magazines it looks good!

AllStar14 · 09/07/2019 12:04

I don't mind cushions and throws, they make it look nice and cosy. What I can't understand is the pictures of nicely made beds with a bloody tea tray on top!

ginghamtablecloths · 09/07/2019 12:04

A bit OTT. I've got three patchwork cushions on the bed with two soft toys and a few books. There's a blanket in a corner for the cat who uses it during the day. An ottoman at the foot of the bed has flung on stuff which will eventually make its way to the wardrobe. 'Ideal Home' it is not.

Xiaoxiong · 09/07/2019 12:06

We have 2 decorative/support cushions on the bed like most others on this thread. But not the hats, cuddly toys and tea trays.

Bluntness100 · 09/07/2019 12:07

I have decorative cushions and throws on all the beds. They can either be used to prop yourself up, or warm yourself up, or simply put on the floor and put back when the bed is made.

So yes, I think it's real life. Most people I know do.

thecatneuterer · 09/07/2019 12:08

I usually have a selection of assorted cats. I think they are very decorative (although all the fur they leave on the covers not so much).

HennyPennyHorror · 09/07/2019 12:08

Not really something to have an entire thread about.

Hmm
Skyejuly · 09/07/2019 12:09

Nope. Just make it normal. Hate loads of faff.

BullBullBull · 09/07/2019 12:09

I have pillows and throws. Makes it look really nice

trackingmedown · 09/07/2019 12:09

I have two adult daughters. They both make their beds up like that every day with many pillows, throws, cushions etc. Even when they are leaving for work at 5.30am the bed still gets the full treatment.

God knows where it comes from - DH has never made a bed in our house, he considers it a waste of time and whilst I’m not as bad as him I certainly don’t go to the effort the girls do.

AudTheDeepMinded · 09/07/2019 12:09

I have two pillows and a duvet BUT the kids usually leave their pyjamas slung all over it as well as Thomas the Tank Engine books, my books, toiletries I've used to get ready and clothes I've chosen and then discarded. It's not exactly 'dressed' more 'general dumping ground'!

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/07/2019 12:10

Until I got ill my house was immaculately painted, dressed and show home ready. Now the bed often doesn't get made. The duvet is straightened when I climb back in.

RosaWaiting · 09/07/2019 12:10

the hats are a new thing to me

but I know lots of people who have several ornamental cushions on the bed.

cardamoncoffee · 09/07/2019 12:10

I love a bit of bedroom porn but I'm afraid for me it's a duvet and 2 pillows only. For all of the people with throws and 6 extra pillows/cushions, does this not make so much extra washing?

I love looking at interiors on Instagram but it has escalated now to potted plants randomly positioned over the bed now 🙄

stucknoue · 09/07/2019 12:11

I have decorative pillows and a blanket, no hats or teddies though!

that25cUKHeatwaveof2019 · 09/07/2019 12:11

It's a couple of cushions, what's the big deal?Confused

Even my kids have a few cushions on their bed, it's more comfortable to read.

I hate unmade bed in my house, barely takes a minute in the morning, so yes, for some of us its real life. What's the issue? If you don't like cushion, don't buy any, it's your home.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/07/2019 12:11

I love you pink and green bedding @Youmadorwhat, lovely colours.

Childcar12 · 09/07/2019 12:11

Not really something to have an entire thread about.

Tbh you could say that about most MN threads Confused

I don’t the bed doesn’t need decorating.

Hotels annoy me no end with this, it’s fine in you want to have sex and you don’t care about the 12 billion pillows until after at least but if one wants to actually sleep it all needs throwing off the bed first.

Summertimeatthebeach · 09/07/2019 12:12

Does a dog count as dressing the bed?

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 09/07/2019 12:13

Not really something to have an entire thread about

Well to be fair, you could say that about most threads on mumsnet. Sometimes people just like to chat

summerofladybird · 09/07/2019 12:13

That's a real bedknobs and broomsticks bed :-)

newmomof1 · 09/07/2019 12:13

My MIL does do the cushions thing

Shockers · 09/07/2019 12:13

The hats are for role play. Coquettish eyelash flutters from under the brim- that kind of caper.

Can’t judge- we leave our Richard and Judy masks on our bed, for easy access Wink.
