Me MarvelousMonsters and I am not ashamed to admit it. I have two dc I have been a carer and established a successful career in a tough industry but somehow I always found time to make my bed Grin

Molly564 · 10/07/2019 18:35

Ha my parents bed looks like this 😂

Teacher22 · 10/07/2019 18:39

I have lovely Laura Ashley white sateen cotton bedding which I iron and make my bed carefully every day. I plump up the pillows hotel style and arrange a lovely taffeta throw at the foot of the bed.

What an idiot I am. But I love my bed and bedroom. It is my haven from the world.

manicmij · 10/07/2019 18:44

That is not done by a normal person at all. Definitely a showroom display. Who wants to have to clear that clutter off before getting into bed and where wiukd it all go.

PetrichorRain · 10/07/2019 18:44

@TheSandman

Who the fuck has time to make their beds neat and 'decorate' them?

Surely you could say that about anything? Anything that someone else like to do to improve their home, could be classed as a waste of time. It’s not about having more or less time, it’s about having different priorities.

I would hate to have a bed that looks like a crash site, personally. It would make me stressed out. So i make my bed and my house look good and it makes me feel calm and happy. So those few minutes I spend aren’t a waste of time. I’m amazed that people are finding this so hard to understand.

TeachesOfPeaches · 10/07/2019 18:46

My mum has always and loads of pillows and throws etc on her bed and so does my sister. I have a scruffy duvet usually with matching pillow cases (but not always)

pollymere · 10/07/2019 18:49

I used to until I watched Dave Gorman (Hi Dave if you're reading this) discussing how pointless cushions are on a bed. I've kept one for sitting up to read in bed but now additional items such as blankets or throws are only there for warmth not style.

BlueJava · 10/07/2019 18:52

Not here - we both get up at 6am, leave at 6:30am, don't even make the bed, let alone decorate it!

PookieDo · 10/07/2019 19:07

@Winenotttea my dog loves me making beds, it’s full on playtime for him!

If I make the bed it is pretty much guaranteed he will jump up and immediately roll around all over it

He also sleeps up against me all night but I don’t want him to get too hot so (I’m single) so I sleep diagonally across the bed with my head on the left and legs on the right so he’s not covered in duvet but it doesn’t fall off the bed. My dog does not shed hair so bed stays fairly clean!

MitziK · 10/07/2019 19:10

DP has got into the habit of making the bed - after years of staggering up there to find the duvet without a cover, the mattress bare and the visible stains on pillows making me want to cry, he now replaces the base sheet, puts on clean pillowcases and changes the duvet cover, makes it all and neatly piles the million pillows that we use at the head.

Every time I walk in there and see it all fresh and neat, my heart does a little skip, because he's not doing it for himself, he's doing it because I like it - easy Brownie points compared to hearing 'Oh, FOR FUCK'S SAKE' when I'm shattered and just want to climb in and go to sleep, not put the big light on, search for fresh linen and generally get hot, bothered, even more tired but wide awake until 4am (I have a lot of difficulty sleeping at the best of times, add bright light, activity and being pissed off and I'm screwed for the next five hours).

DTwatCat usually adds the finishing touch to the decorations.

Why don't Instagrammers - who often do have pets - ever photograph the fluffy bastards demonstrating just how lovely the bed is? Or do all their perfect, expensive breed animals always yak up a furball if they try?

winniestone37 · 10/07/2019 19:14

yup my bed is (one of) my pride and joys, it makes me happy but quite frankly what had it got to do with anyone else?

LouH1981 · 10/07/2019 19:25

If by decorated you mean clean washing that needs to go away but not got too far, train track brought up by my 4 year at some ungodly hour and my pregnancy folder from the hospital then yes, mine is very well decorated 🙈

Nearly47 · 10/07/2019 19:40

Pillows I've seen plenty but hats? On the bed? Confused
I have four pillows but we kind of use all of them. Sometimes they end up on the floor.
Some people just have too much free time...

omione · 10/07/2019 19:50

Monaastic bedroom for me, no cushions, no throws and no clutter. one single wooden bowl filled with stones from the beach, one candle and a book, nothing else

FelicisNox · 10/07/2019 19:59

My bedroom looks like a boutique hotel room. #sorrynotsorry

If you build it, you will come. 😉😂

DreamTheMoors · 10/07/2019 20:01

Ooh boy. Mum was very superstitious. Hat on the bed is VERY bad luck. She never told me why - I don’t think she knew.
I get the pillows on the bed but the rest looks ridiculous. I studied interior design and never once did I see this. To each his own though.

QueeniesPotOfRouge · 10/07/2019 20:03

Shoes on the table are bad luck as they represent hanging. Now I’m racking my brain for a head/hat analogy Grin

UrsulaPandress · 10/07/2019 20:10

Have I stepped into a parallel universe?

People actually do this?

These are real photos of real people's everyday beds?

Snog · 10/07/2019 20:15

Hats on beds is super bad karma

freshasthebrightbluesky · 10/07/2019 20:15

I tidy the bed but that's it. We do have throws and scatter cushions and a runner thingy but they're in the cupboard. I cba with fannying about that much either 1st thing in the morning or last thing at night.

loveyou3000 · 10/07/2019 20:18

I'd love to be the type of person who has a Pinterest worthy house, beautifully dressed bed and all. Unfortunately I can just about manage to clean the house, no time for making it all aesthetically pleasing!

Bowerbird5 · 10/07/2019 20:19

Shoes on the table are bad luck. A clip round the ear when I was a kid.

I have a wrought iron bed similar. Is it an original? My is 1880. I have a duvet then a LA cover and then an eiderdown that matches the curtain material. Four pillows and then a random number of cushions. two are large so I can prop up to read. DH slings them when he is home. I also have flowers and fairy lights entwined in winter. I love my bed. It doesn't take much longer to make. I air it while I have breakfast and a shower then make it after I get dressed.
I don\t have hats on that is weird. I do have a very old and I think fairly rare Wendy Boston cat/ PJ case my Granny gave me.

Bowerbird5 · 10/07/2019 20:23

Youmadornot sorry that question was to you. My bed is very similar, a little more battered.

soarin · 10/07/2019 20:27

🤣🤣🤣

Ellmau · 10/07/2019 20:28

Some people decorate their bed with a cat.
