I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

I don't mind DTwatCat getting first dibs on the outside of the quilt.

But DP occasionally gets into bed still wearing his sodding clothes. I hate it. Mind you, he also seems to think that base sheets and quilt covers/pillow cases are optional. yes I know he's a monster.

If I wash the bed linen and make the bed, he doesn't get away with it, but as he does it all at the moment, I ignore it but make a point of getting to bed before him, even if it's just ten seconds, so I get that clean bed feeling before he ruins it.

dottiedodah · 06/07/2019 14:47

I agree with OP here .Really dont want anyone to lie on my side of the bed esp with clean sheets !.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:47

I don't have naps either which is probably part of it. When I go to bed, I like a full six hours at least :)

Yes this post became my wake up call. Time to get a life. Thank you for providing the catalyst.

WindsweptEgret · 06/07/2019 14:48

What's the point of a mattress protector if it's just as dirty as the sheets then? It's not dirty from me just sitting on it for an hour or so, compared to sleeping on a sheet for a couple of weeks! Sweat can go through a sheet, which is why I have the mattress protector, to protect the mattress. It gets washed every few months.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:48

You're welcome, now go and change your sheets :)

I can't be my head around someone getting so angry about a kid in clothes on bed sheets that they came to vent on the internet.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:49

Now is the point to really theow my neck on the block. I run an air bnb. When the beds get changed they get stripped back to the mattress, so mattress protectors, pillow protectors and the blankets I put over the duvets in winter get washed each time. Is that overboard?

Airbnb, quite different! I'm really glad you do that! (And I'm a slob at home)

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:53

But why, as its no big deal at all
Well, answering my own question its a big deal to some people so short of asking I can't tell who is who :o

OP This thread is unintentionally hilarious! I have very high hygiene standards abs sometimes, on a weekend afternoon, I get fully into my bed, in my jeans!! I never thought that this should not be permitted!

CharityConundrum · 06/07/2019 14:54

I get that you don't want ourdoor clothes in your bed - I don't understand it, but it's up to you to decide - but it clearly doesn't bother your daughter so why is she not allowed to lie on/in her own bed in clothes? It just seems like a needlessly rigid rule that means she can't lie on her own bed unless you deem her clothes appropriate. And for what? like the feeling of clean sheets, but if she doesn't care, why impose your preference on her in a bed you aren't even sleeping in?

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:55

Shall I leave you to your nap...

I didn’t think Mumsnet could get anymore batshit

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:56

Charity I do think you make a really good point there. I suppose my logic is she'd do it if covered on mud but she wasn't and so it was a hypothetical situation. Very good point, as they grow up they need to set their own standards on this sort of stuff.

What does this mean ^^ Stealth

What is this, The Sound of Music?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 06/07/2019 14:58

I've not sent her into care (wtf?!)

I honestly didn’t think I’d have to spell this out, but I wasn’t being entirely serious when I suggested putting your daughter into local authority care. Neither did I mean to imply that you had or would seriously consider this.

To be clear: I do not advocate or encourage putting children into local authority care for lying on top of the bedclothes in their outdoor clothes.

Asta19 · 06/07/2019 14:59

Awww OP, I get it! I am drying my sheets as we speak ready to go fresh on later. I would be really miffed if someone lay on the sheet in outdoor clothes! On top of a quilt or blanket would be one thing but the sheet you lie on is the "inner sanctum" Grin Nobody but me touches that sheet! (no partner). And I would never do that in outdoor clothes! So I get it.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 06/07/2019 14:59

Count yourself lucky … I regularly get home to find teen DD lying on my bed surrounded by plates/cups/crumbs. Does my head in.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 14:59

Lots of people think it's no big deal Mrs d
But some do want fully clean sheets
And I'd look a bit odd asking that inadvance
So I have to just provide clean sheets for all :)

Can anyone read? Anyone?I have admitted iabu and apologise multiple times. And still they come.

I think this marks the point when the cheese officially slipped off the biscuit.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 15:00

Just poor taste and touched a nerve a bit StillCoughingandLaughing. Sorry

Never heard of outdoor clothes. We just have clothes which we wear either side of the doors.
