To feel the rage with “teacher tired” posts

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 18:26

The season of teachers posting SM messages “no one knows tired like an end of term teacher/TA/dinner lady” is almost upon us.

I want to scream, what about the fuckers who work stupid hours all week and don’t get 6 weeks off in the summer, half term, two weeks Easter, two weeks at Christmas.

I wouldn’t be a teacher for all the tea in China but these people chose their career.

Grrr, actually don’t care if I’m BU.

It’s not a competition though. People are allowed to feel tired and everyone’s threshold is different. Plus it depends what you’re used to.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 28/06/2019 18:28

I'm guessing you're not a teacher, OP...

ferretface · 28/06/2019 18:28

YANBU OP. No sympathy for people playing the tiredness Olympics, you never know what someone else is going through.

InfiniteSheldon · 28/06/2019 18:29

I hear you competitive tiredness enrage me I work 52 weeks of the year and manage not to moan

HouseOfGoldandBones · 28/06/2019 18:29

You're going to get roasted OP, MN is a very teacher friendly site.

I am very, very envious of the amount of holidays teachers get. I regularly work 60 hours a week & definitely don't get those holidays. BUT, I can't imagine a worse job that dealing with other people's children & entitled parents.

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 18:29

What’s ODFOD?

I get where you are coming from. I mean it's not a competition is it? You dont win anything for being exhausted. My friend is finishing her 1st year of teacher training and she has been posting those sort of memes for the last week. I don't think it bodes well for her future career but it's not my business really.

Jellybabiesarebabies · 28/06/2019 18:30

Does it matter? Feeling the rage is a bit ott. 🤔

codemonkey · 28/06/2019 18:31

Perhaps they're knackered after looking after little shits all day, especially the ones whose parents moan all the time about teachers. I would be.

BrexitBingoGenerator · 28/06/2019 18:32

I’ve always wondered what ODfod means too. I’m guessing it’s not a pleasantry.

DipDabLollyPop · 28/06/2019 18:32

YABU typical response from someone who's mind is as small as their experience.

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 18:32

I am not a teacher for exactly the reasons Houseof mentions. I’m not particularly fond of kids or performance parents, entitled parents, parents who bring up snowflakes.

It's not a competition true. But I do feel you pain. Loads of us work our asses off doing long hours and get very little holiday.

goodwinter · 28/06/2019 18:32

I don't doubt they're exhausted, but "gatekeeping" tiredness is silly. YANBU.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 28/06/2019 18:32

‘You chose your career’. You should thank your lucky stars they did so you and your family get a free education!

LolaSmiles · 28/06/2019 18:33

I see friends in different jobs sharing funny things about being tired /challenges of their job. Not a competition and an invitation to say 'well actually... you shouldnt joke about that because...'

I smile and laugh along because it's probably a silly joke with others who can empathise. See also, silly shares about people not understanding home ed, nursing, paramedics, cross fit etc.

The best teacher one I saw was linked to nobody understanding the moment when teachers see the glue order arrive. Grin
But nobody would whine about that one because other jobs have similar moments.

People need to lighten up.

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 18:33

@codemonkey how eloquent you are. Are you a teacher bringing up the education standards of this country?

Oh Do Fuck Off Dear 😂😂😂

DipDabLollyPop · 28/06/2019 18:34

Big shits breed little shits

Scarydinosaurs · 28/06/2019 18:34

With the exception of the kids- you do realise that TEACHERS DONT LIKE THOSE THINGS EITHER!

And therefore it makes them tired. If you think the holidays make it worth it, then do it. If you accept they don’t, shut up moaning about their moaning.

sevenoftwelve · 28/06/2019 18:34

Odfod = "oh do fuck off, dear"

Babdoc · 28/06/2019 18:34

They’re obviously perfectly entitled to say they’re tired, but it’s rather overegging it to claim nobody else knows such exhaustion!
I useful to work 100 hour weeks as a junior doctor in critical care, including some 72 hour continuous shifts. I’d like to bet my level of utter knackerdom trumped any teacher’s.
And what of people slogging at manual labour in hot sun, or tramping miles a day round Amazon warehouses? Sleepless mums of young babies? All probably higher up the fatigue pecking order!

BurnedToast · 28/06/2019 18:35

Grin I hear you OP.

I'm not saying all teachers are like this, but geez there are alot of martyrs in that profession.

I'd be tempted to say 'I'm sure you'll recover during the 6 weeks you are about to have off'.
