They are the England Women's football team, currently playing in the World Cup.

Didn't know the name of the Scottish captain either.

TheFaerieQueene · 27/06/2019 11:08

Why should they know? I don’t. I only know that it is a football team by chance.

Football isn’t important to lots of people.

PineappleTart · 27/06/2019 11:09

Why would any politician be required to know the names of any sports people?

fairweathercyclist · 27/06/2019 11:09

I don't know the name either. And in case that is considered sexist, I don't know the name of the captain of the mens' team either.

I do however know quite a lot about athletics, because that interests me. Maybe Ed and Jo don't really like football that much - and anyway, Jo is Scottish though I see you said she didn't know the name of the Scottish captain either. Not sure why there is so much hate for her actually, I really rate her.

MyOpinionIsValid · 27/06/2019 11:09

Why do they need to know?

I've had this shit on my telly for over week and Ic ouldnt tell you who the hell they are either. Did they win anything ?

Readytogogogo · 27/06/2019 11:10

I'm not sure that this is the biggest issue facing our country at the moment.

Dropitlikeitshot · 27/06/2019 11:11

Unless they’re into sports, then why would they?
I don’t know who she is, and I don’t know who the men’s captain is either.
They’d be there to do their job, not talk about sports.

Fibbke · 27/06/2019 11:12

I think it shows an absolute lack of interest in anything that isnt Westminster. Crap.

Dnt be so daft. That's like saying the PM should know who's at number one. If they still have a number one?
Anyway no, YABU

YouSayPotatoesISayVodka · 27/06/2019 11:13

To be fair I don’t know her name either. And given the state of our country right now, I think MPs have more pressing issues than the World Cup.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2019 11:14

Don't be daft.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 27/06/2019 11:15

I'm not sure that this is the biggest issue facing our country at the moment.

Haha, totally agree.

I'd be more worried that no-one seems to have acknowledged that they won't be able to get Brexit through by 31st October. They just keep repeat this like it'll make the blindest bit of difference. The EU has said it will NOT renegotiate.

Hunt = awful
Boris = awful
Corbyn = awful (and I'm a Labour supporter)
No-one knows who the new 'President'' of the EU will be that 'someone' will have to negotiate with.
And the Lib Dems don't even have a leader at the moment.

We're all going to hell in a handcart. Thank god for some sunshine today!

ssd · 27/06/2019 11:15

I don't think anything of the current crop of politicians BTW

Hont1986 · 27/06/2019 11:15

Of course they shouldn't know it, what nonsense.

Don't need to know the name of the men's captain either, or any of the other captains for men's or women's rugby/cricket/whatever else.

Fibbke · 27/06/2019 11:15

I couldn't give a shit if anyone in here doesn't know her name. I think anyone who is trying to ingratiate themselves with their country should bloody know!

Anyway, she said a man she works with would know so that's fine Hmm

OP posts:
Fibbke · 27/06/2019 11:16

At least she had the decency to look embarrassed.

OP posts:
PineappleTart · 27/06/2019 11:17

Well what else do you think they should know?

Surely their knowledge of governmental procedure and policies are what people are actually elected for?

Fibbke · 27/06/2019 11:20

Not in Boris's case, no.

OP posts:
TinselTimes · 27/06/2019 11:26

What a strange thread. I’ve never heard of the lionesses. Yabu.

Seeline · 27/06/2019 11:28

So what should they know?

The names of the captains of every sports team in Scotland, England Wales and Northern Ireland?
Who is in the top 10 every week
Who the finalists were in X Factor/I'm a Celeb/Bake Off/Strictly each year
Who won Oscars this year in each category

Or should they have a grasp of basic economics, how the education system works, how the NHS is run, recognise Leaders of other countries and know their names, appreciate how the benefits system impacts on normal people, understand how hard our police, medics, fire crews work for little money?

I know which is more important to me.....

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 27/06/2019 11:28

So it's a football team. Why the hell would a politician need to know that?! Confused
