Can all the Lionesses name the leaders of our political parties? If not, shame on them?

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/06/2019 22:15

Come a week on Sunday, the world will know her name.

Roar, Lionesses. Roar! Smile

Benjispruce · 27/06/2019 22:17

Yabu.
I want leaders to know about economics and society.

weebarra · 27/06/2019 22:18

Jo is my parents' MP and she's great. I'm a huge football fan and DS2 and I have watched almost every match. I still don't know all the players names.

WindsweptEgret · 27/06/2019 22:19

It's just football

ilovesooty · 27/06/2019 22:38

Predictable. People falling over themselves in anti sports competitiveness and several comments about how weird it is for adults to be informed about sport or involved in it. Hmm

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/06/2019 22:40

It's just football

Well, no. It's the World Cup finals. It's a big deal Blush

Numbersaremything · 27/06/2019 22:46

I read the Guardian everyday. I skip any articles at the back about football, racing, motorsports and cricket. I do read articles about tennis and rugby. I can't name any captain of the Red Roses rugby team and they actually won the world cup a few years ago. I think thisbisvobebof those trick questions designed trip people up, like feigning public outrage when David Cameron couldn't put a price on a pint of milk. It really isn't a key requirement for their job.

homeishere · 27/06/2019 22:47

Lol. Women’s football.

Numbersaremything · 27/06/2019 22:48

thisbisvobebof ... this is one of...

By the way, would you expect to be asked this question in a job interview?

ilovesooty · 27/06/2019 22:48

What's funny about women's football?

WindsweptEgret · 27/06/2019 23:16

The World Cup is still just football Confused. It's just one sport and there are many others.

homeishere · 27/06/2019 23:19

Everything

haveuheard · 27/06/2019 23:22

I did some reading about the US player who has said she wont go to the White House last night. I don't know who the England captain is though.

I do know the captain of the England World Cup Cricket is actually Irish (not Welsh). I can name some other Cricketers in the team. Does that count as sufficient sporting knowledge to not be dim?

EustaciaPieface · 27/06/2019 23:24

They should know many things, but individuals in sports team do not count as important.

WonkoTheSane42 · 27/06/2019 23:24

An awful lot of people very ignorant of elite women’s sport here. Isn’t this the same website that goes into a frothing rage about the concept of trans women competing in sport? And yet many don’t seem to know that England even have a women’s football team. It’s almost like people here largely don’t care about sport and it’s just used as a stick to beat trans women with. Surely that couldn’t possibly be the case.

jacks11 · 27/06/2019 23:27

No. I don’t see why they should. Football is not the most important thing in the world at the moment and irrelevant to many people. I’d rather they knew about the things that really matter.

And if they MUST know the captain of the England woman’s football team, would you also expect them to know the captain of a the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish teams? And if n

IsabellaLinton · 27/06/2019 23:28

I don’t know and I don’t care. Women’s football is boring as hell.

TeacupDrama · 27/06/2019 23:35

I know a bit about who is playing in Wimbledon next week as I like tennis, I'm English but don't like football I know the names of no members of either the female of male football team and I don't care I am aware from news that England won against Norway today but who the players are or who scored is trivia even though I'm a tennis fan I know it is still trivia
I don't expect football fans to know about tennis neither should I or Boris or Jeremy or Jo etc etc to know about football or Tv or some branch of music opera snooker etc
I would expect Jo to know who was the prime minister /president of all the countries in Europe who was the equivalent of Chancellor in our trading partners, what employment figures are, foreign policy, nhs policy; but football No in fact when politicians seem to know loads about sport/ TV/ celebs it makes me think they are not doing their job properly if they have time to study these things in detail like it really matters if they prefer hobnobs to custard creams they can't say they like almond biscotti best even if it were true

I don't and I dont know the name of the men's captain either!

Poloshot · 28/06/2019 00:12

Very odd

NameChange9854 · 28/06/2019 00:24

And Lionesses is a shit name for a team. Far too long.
It isn't their actual name; it's a nickname that I hadn't heard before this tournament.
