AIBU to be glad the heat wave hasn’t reached the UK

I am so glad it’s not 37c here as it is in Europe. I love this weather, 22c is enough for me. My husbands moaning we haven’t had a summer, I love this weather, I can sleep at night, I can go to work without getting all sweaty, I can walk my dogs without worrying of them dying of heat stroke. Anyone else like this weather?

YABU. It's freezing here (UK). I'd gladly have a heatwave.

phoenixrosehere · 26/06/2019 21:38

Yanbu. I hated the heatwave last year. I already naturally run warm so to add heat to it made me miserable. Hot weather makes me feel ill and direct sunlight for too long makes my skin feel likes it burning. Plus, with no ac or screens to keep the bugs out when you have the windows open, I rather have the cooler temp.

RottnestFerry · 26/06/2019 21:39

Bloody freezing in Wales at the moment.

As for dying at 35 degrees, I've been for a walk in Death Valley at 50 degrees and didn't fear for my imminent demise. I was passed by a woman on a bicycle loaded up with camping gear. She didn't die either.

MarshaBradyo · 26/06/2019 21:39

I love around 30 degrees makes me happy

I’ve not experienced hotter than 37 in Cyprus - I think Aus had 44 last summer

MrsJBaptiste · 26/06/2019 21:40

I must be in a pocket of shit weather. I've been cold all day and have finally given in and put the heating on. Heatwave? Bring it on ☀️

bumblingbovine49 · 26/06/2019 21:43

I'm freezing tonight. Last night I spent the evening outside a pub with the local choir and I had my rain jacket on. It waa getting too cold towards 10pm and felt damp and was dreary and overcast. This time last year we had the same event and it was a wonderfully balmy evening.it was light and warm. I know which one I preferred . I think 39deg is way too warm but this last couple of days have been too dreary and cold for.me. I have had a rain jacket on constantly!!!

Even I, with my fucked internal thermostat permanently stuck on 50 degrees, will admit there was a nip in the air in the Midlands today. Only when the breeze blew, mind. The wind seemed a bit cooler than it has been. But the main difference has been the humidity. I haven’t been half as greasy today as I have been the rest of the week.

Oliversmumsarmy · 26/06/2019 21:44

I have arthritis so a heatwave means I can walk around/work with out pain. So far apart from a week in Spain earlier in the year I am in pain.

So bring on a heat wave.

Gertie75 · 26/06/2019 21:47

I'm in the Midlands and am sat with my dressing gown on and a hot water bottle, hard to think we're meant to be sweltering tomorrow.

Benjispruce · 26/06/2019 21:54

No higher than 24 for me. I never know what to wear to work when it gets hotter.

Benjispruce · 26/06/2019 21:56

During the heatwave last year, we holidayed in the west of Ireland. It was a blissful 20/22 degrees.

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2019 21:56

It's been about 22 C here (north west England) today which is just about right for me. I hated the heat last year. Other than a holiday in Egypt once at the end of March, when, be honest, you expect it to be hot, the hottest I've been was on a holiday in south eastern France when they were having a freak heatwave about 5 years ago and it got up to 38 C. I was like a wet dishcloth. It was too hot to do anything after about 11 am! It's the humidity which drains me the most. A dry heat is slightly more bearable.

dementedma · 26/06/2019 21:56

Finally a warm, sunny day in Scotland. No.complaints here.Bring on the heatwave

cheesemongery · 26/06/2019 21:59

I couldn't cope last year in the heatwave. I'd read about putting your bedding in the freezer etc for a cooler sleep... Sod that, I just chucked a bucket of water over my bed one night and got in that!! Oh it was so nice to be cool.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 26/06/2019 22:03

Northwest Germany. 35 degrees. No air con, esp not in the schools. I do feel like melting.

I lived in Cyprus, inland so 40 was 'normal'... Bit we had air con and a pool... Neither of which we have here.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 26/06/2019 22:05

I'd welcome some heat. I have a dire Vitamin D deficiency, which this particular June definitely isn't helping.

But the thought of the Sahara Bubble heatwave, of whatever it's called, making its way up here when June has just dumped copious amounts of water on us makes me wince. One word only springs to mind: midges!

floraloctopus · 26/06/2019 22:06

@londonrach you have a hot water bottle and a bit further west we have fans in and windows open

GabsAlot · 26/06/2019 22:08

WomanLikeMeLM · 26/06/2019 22:11

I slept under my 13 tog duvet all last summer. I'm sleeping under two 13 tog duvets this summer.

Thehop · 26/06/2019 22:13

My sister is coming over from Dubai for the summer to escape 52. Awful.

jessicawessica · 26/06/2019 22:14

It's been dark and raining for 3 days here. To top it off it's also muggy. Can't believe I'm sweating like a pig but have had to have my tumble dryer on all afternoon in June Shock

EvelynShaw · 26/06/2019 22:18

Switzerland here, and air con is rare apart from shopping centres - our city publishes maps of places with air con that you can go to if you need.

It’s about 35 today, I think. It’s not totally unbearable, but will be glad when it goes down after the weekend.

Tryingtoworkitoutagain · 26/06/2019 22:18

We are in Northern Ireland, late teens and we are all talking about it being a heat wave - everyone’s wearing shorts and having bbqs! It’s the first bit of proper sun we are having in a long time !
