To refuse to give someone a lift because of their weight?

Someone I know is struggling to get to a hospital appointment. They dont qualify for hospital transport. We live rurally so public transport is limited.

I work near the hospital and they have strongly hinted that they would really appreciate a lift there. Normally I would be happy to offer. However, this person is very overweight. I dont know exactly how much he weighs but I know it's over 30 stone. I'm concerned about whether my car can take the weight. But maybe it can? I don't want to refuse if it wont damage my car.

WIBU to make an excuse to not give a lift?

This is a different take on the usual fat threads, I'll give you credit for that.

AtrociousCircumstance · 25/06/2019 22:25

Can four adults fit in your car?

AntiHop · 25/06/2019 22:26

1/10

ohbabybabyy · 25/06/2019 22:26

There's only one way to find out

Flairhead · 25/06/2019 22:26

If your car can take 4 passengers as well as you, it can cope with one 30 stone person.

spugzbunny · 25/06/2019 22:27

Are you joking? I mean don't get me wrong that's pretty big but 3 passengers and yourself would well exceed that. You could google the load limit on your car? Use some common sense?

thenightsky · 25/06/2019 22:27

Check the owner's manual for weight limit.

ShallICompareTheeToASummersDay · 25/06/2019 22:27

Unless you own a smart car, YABU

DesparateDino · 25/06/2019 22:27

Is it a Fiat 500? I have heard they are not fat friendly. But most cars can take a hell of a lot of weight. Maybe just not all on one side, maybe he can sit in the back in the middle.

Fatted · 25/06/2019 22:27

Surely if your car is designed to carry four or more people and something in the boot it can carry a 30st person.

Unless you drive a Robin reliant you should be fine.

Are you for real, is it a toy car lol

Cryalot2 · 25/06/2019 22:28

You don't have to take him if you don't want to, for whatever reason.
Your car and your choice .

MysweetAudrina · 25/06/2019 22:28

My best friend is a driving instructor. He drives a 1.2 litre Toyota yaris. He is over 30 stone. He hasn't fallen out through the bottom of it yet.

Glitterblue · 25/06/2019 22:28

I don't suppose you'd have a problem taking 30 stone worth split amongst 3 passengers, plus yourself so YABU.

bigredvase · 25/06/2019 22:29

I'm assuming you'd take 3 10 stone people in your car without a fuss?

Finfintytint · 25/06/2019 22:29

Is it a clown car?

RosaWaiting · 25/06/2019 22:29

Um
It would be the weight on the one seat that would worry me but my car was a 2 door type one.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/06/2019 22:29

I'm not sure he'd fit in my car.

Hopeygoflightly · 25/06/2019 22:30

Is this a joke? Is your car a Little Tikes Cosy Coupe?

shemakesmewaitonabedofnails · 25/06/2019 22:30

Is it one of those little tykes cars? It wouldn't be fun to pedal, I'll give you that.

Lalliella · 25/06/2019 22:30

But you wouldn’t have all 3 passengers sat on one seat would you? I would’ve thought that could easily damage your car. There’s no way I’d give him a lift. Mind you I’ve got a Fiat 500, he’d never fit in!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 25/06/2019 22:30

My very large friend was mortified when he got in a friends car and broke the seat. But I'd not have imagined that happening and wouldn't deny a lift to them on that basis.

shemakesmewaitonabedofnails · 25/06/2019 22:30

@Hopeygoflightly you beat me!

ofred · 25/06/2019 22:31

Unless this is your car, yabu
