Las Vegas - quality or quantity

lululemona · 24/06/2019 14:00

Just about to book a very last minute trip to Las Vegas. Would you prefer to spend 4 days at the Bellagio (incredible 5* hotel) or 7 days in a very decent 4-star hotel? The latter is £400 cheaper. We'll book the same excursions regardless.

I'm thinking quality over quantity but DH would prefer a longer break. It's unlikely we'll go to LV a 2nd time.

Very tempted to press on with my preferred option as I have a feeling we won't need to spend an entire week there.

Where is the 4* hotel? If it's not on the strip, I would stay at the Bellagio ....which is amazing.

Pursefirst · 24/06/2019 14:03

I'd stay on the strip OP, especially if it's a once in a lifetime strip. The Bellagio has a gorgeous pool too no, I'm not jealous at all

Pursefirst · 24/06/2019 14:03

oh FFs a once in a lifetime TRIP!

Dollywilde · 24/06/2019 14:05

We did 2 nights at the Four Seasons as part of a longer trip. I’d have liked a bit longer in LV but not a full week - and for me I needed a bit of a classy hotel as a break from the unrelenting (but amazing!) tackiness elsewhere! Smile I’d go with your plan OP.

Oliversmumsarmy · 24/06/2019 14:05

Bellagio without a doubt.

Was there over Christmas

Oliversmumsarmy · 24/06/2019 14:06

4 days is a perfect amount of time to spend in LV

lululemona · 24/06/2019 14:06

2nd hotel is on the strip

Bellagio.

lioness87 · 24/06/2019 14:09

4 days is plenty for Vegas. Stay in the Bellagio and get a fountain view room if you can!

bruffin · 24/06/2019 14:10

Remember you have to pay resort fees on top.

sleepwhenidie · 24/06/2019 14:10

OMG 7 days in LV Shock - you will go out of your minds. Definitely 4 days in the Bellagio, the pool is just beautiful and it will be a respite from the --vileness- craziness of pretty much everywhere else!

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 24/06/2019 14:10

Bellagio. We stayed next door at Caesar’s, which was also lovely, but I think 4 days is plenty in Vegas. (Also, highly recommend the Gordon Ramsay restaurant inside Caesar’s)

jb1305uk · 24/06/2019 14:10

Bellagio. It’s amazing. 4 days is enough time

Ijumpedtheshark · 24/06/2019 14:11

We stayed in the Bellagio 3 times and it was very good. However, last time we went we stayed in Caesar’s Palace and we found it a more fun hotel.

It’s beside the Bellagio and our room overlooked the lake at the front of the Bellagio so we could watch the fountains from our room. We also had a massive jacuzzi bath! Our room was cheaper than a basic Bellagio room and I think better value.

So I’d recommend looking at other hotels as they can be better in many ways (although you can’t go wrong at the Bellagio).

Ijumpedtheshark · 24/06/2019 14:13

Oh and we’ve always stayed for a week at a time, we love it! But won’t be going back for at least 18 years as we now have DS!

lululemona · 24/06/2019 14:13

DH is saying he would like a day to relax (i.e a wasted day) after travelling. He's only 31! I think he's being pathetic unreasonable.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 24/06/2019 14:19

We were there for a couple of days last June and it was fucking BOILING. Unbearable (45+ degrees)

Even with the air con it wasn't much fun - 7 days of that i'd have lost my mind.

leghairdontcare · 24/06/2019 14:21

I've stayed at bellagio and the mirage, imperial Palace (now the Linq) and circus circus. I'd happily stay at the mirage instead of the bellagio if it were £400 cheaper. If you think you're only going to go once, why not go for longer?

Although I find Las Vegas is very marmite - I only went because my parents paid for the first trip and I've been back 5 times. Other people would never go again.

letsrunfar · 24/06/2019 14:22

Bellagio for sure! Tell them it's your anniversary or something and you might snag a nice upgrade. Fountains view room for the win!

From my experience four or five nights is plenty in Vegas. A week is over kill.
It's one of those places you cram it all in and come home for a rest!

Having said that, if you fancy seven days and can still get a decent hotel on the strip (Luxor maybe) then go for the cheaper option.

Wouldn't stay off strip personally.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 24/06/2019 14:23

Bellagio hands-down. I am in love with it.

The only caveat is that I am like a small over excited child in Vegas, so probably shouldn't be listened to when it comes to advice.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/06/2019 14:28

7 days is way too long in Vegas unless you're some kind of hardcore Poker player or REALLY like Matt Goss. Why not do 4 days at a smaller hotel and the other 3 days in LA?

Butterflyone1 · 24/06/2019 14:31

Why don't you spend 5 nights at the cheaper hotel and you're last night at the Bellagio.

I'd prefer to spend longer at a location. There's loads to do and also just nice chilling in the sun by the pool.

lululemona · 24/06/2019 14:32

The mirage is only £100 cheaper.

What did you guys do there?

I'm thinking day drinking lounging by the pool
Splurging on decent restaurants/buffets
Going to a few shows
Helicopter tour
Visiting a few casinos for the experience (unlikely to gamble much)

bluesky · 24/06/2019 14:32

The Venetian is great, and always cheaper if you opt for a non-strip view.

SignedUpJust4This · 24/06/2019 14:34

7 days is too long in Vegas.
