Las Vegas - quality or quantity

lululemona · 24/06/2019 14:00

Just about to book a very last minute trip to Las Vegas. Would you prefer to spend 4 days at the Bellagio (incredible 5* hotel) or 7 days in a very decent 4-star hotel? The latter is £400 cheaper. We'll book the same excursions regardless.

I'm thinking quality over quantity but DH would prefer a longer break. It's unlikely we'll go to LV a 2nd time.

Very tempted to press on with my preferred option as I have a feeling we won't need to spend an entire week there.

Keep trips to Vegas short.

AlwaysCheddar · 24/06/2019 14:36

Bellagio over mirage every time

AlwaysCheddar · 24/06/2019 14:37

Lots to do in Vegas and around so 7 days better than 4

SignedUpJust4This · 24/06/2019 14:38

I would recommend a visit to hoover dam. Doesn't sound fun but I really enjoyed it..

Cacaca · 24/06/2019 14:38

No brainer - the 7 night option. If this is your first trip 4 nights is nowhere near long enough. We had to return the following year as our first trip barely scratched the surface. You’ll hardly spend any time in your room and you’ll still be able to visit the Bellagio and all other hotels you fancy.

CMOTDibbler · 24/06/2019 14:38

I stayed at the Delano recently, and I had a beautiful room with separate sitting area. Gorgeous pool etc there, but a very reasonable price

avalanching · 24/06/2019 14:39

We did 4 days and it was a good amount of time, we didn't do any lounging though, we had a packed itinerary and were happy with that. You don't need a day to rest after travelling, you'll be up stupidly early the first day there with jet lag you'll want to do the opposite!

We chose 4 days as we were trying to keep costs down (thinking more about daily spending than the hotel cost) I could have happily done 7 days as we rented a car and spent a lot of it driving out to places like the Grand Canyon and Valley of Fire, we could easily have filled 7 days doing more exploring though I agree 7 days of just Vegas would be too much for me.

mnistooaddictive · 24/06/2019 14:39

I’m going with DH next year, I really wanted to stay at Bellagio but have gone for Vdara as it is next door and we saved £700 for 5 nights- that’s a lot of extra spending money!!

Sunnydaysandholidays · 24/06/2019 14:40

You can leave Vegas! Do 7 nights but have some trips out. Grand Canyon by helicopter, hire a car and head out to the Hoover Dam, Death Valley or up Mt Charleston. There’s plenty to do to fill a week.

gerbilfun · 24/06/2019 14:41

I'm so jealous I'd love to go to Vegas! Dh is going in September ☹️

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/06/2019 14:42

I've been to Vegas a few times but max three days. It's an odd choice to go to if you're just going to sit by the pool - and summer is roasting in Nevada. Then you spend a lot of time shuffling up and down the strip and going in and out of hotels and casinos avoiding people aggressively flyering you - and oh god the hen and stag parties.
If you're not big on gambling ( and if you're not, it gets old pretty quick) then 4 days is loads if you are just planning on chilling and some shows and meals.
There's also a good outlet Mall in Henderson a few miles outside LV.

bigbeans · 24/06/2019 14:45

Bellagio 100%. As PP have said, LV for a week is madness!

TeeniefaeTroon · 24/06/2019 14:55

We got back from Vegas last week and had only 3 nights there at the end of our trip, it wasn't enough time at all. We had a fabulous suite but was barely in it. If definitely go for 7 nights at a lesser hotel.

TeeniefaeTroon · 24/06/2019 14:56

Also 702 helicopters have a deal on Groupon, it was fantastic!

burnoutbabe · 24/06/2019 14:57

We also stayed at the vdara which is linked to the bellagio.
It's all suites abs no casino so you are out the hotel in 3-4 mins of leaving room. So it's much more chilled.
Bellagio would cost tons for anything like breakfast/coffee.

Defender90 · 24/06/2019 14:58

Depends on the other hotel to be honest, we stayed at Bellagio last time and it's amazing, we had a suite and it's central and fab as a base, we booked as once in a lifetime, never be back etc.

When we go back in August we are staying at Mandalay so we can spend more time at a different part of the strip.

Warning - Vegas is addictive!

lavenderbluedilly · 24/06/2019 15:01

Choose the cheaper one and put the savings towards a helicopter trip to Grand Canyon. Or towards the Slotzilla zip line

chipsandpeas · 24/06/2019 15:10

The hotel room is only for sleeping in so go for the cheaper one and use the cash for other things

chipsandpeas · 24/06/2019 15:11

I was 4 days in Vegas and it wasnt enough to do everything without rushing would have preferred an extra day or 2 so could have more time relaxing

Justme10 · 24/06/2019 15:11

I would definitely choose the cheaper hotel, that's what I did 7 days at the Luxor and you can go in and see all the other hotels which are amazing.

barbaramillicentr · 24/06/2019 15:40

I'd agree to keep the Vegas trips short.

Day 1- relax by the pools with cocktails, a nice dinner & drinks in the evening, casinos etc.

Day 2 - the main strip, hotels, a show, a trip to downtown etc

Day 3 - helicopter ride & the Grand Canyon, a show, casino + dinner

Day 4 - more of the strip, a nice dinner, casinos

Home on Day 5. Vegas is a crazy place and it can become truly overwhelming. We were there 3 days and only wish we had one more. Any more and it would have been too much.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 24/06/2019 16:36

I've been to Vegas four times and a week is fine. Lots to do. I've not stayed at The Bellagio but I've been there lots and it's amazing. You really don't spend anytime in your room so I'd choose a hotel based on how nice the pool area is if you plan to spend a bit of time relaxing.

Grand Canyon trip is good as is a drive out to the Hoover Dam. Lots of nice shopping malls away from the main strip if you want to escape the madness.

Hated Vegas the first time we went and couldn't wait to get away as it was so overwhelming. ( lots of construction was going on and it noisy and dusty ) Went again after winning a holiday there and it was a completely different experience. We loved it.

Mouikey · 24/06/2019 16:43

If it’s still on, Love (cirque) is amazing!!!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 24/06/2019 16:45

Can u go mid week? Strip hotels tend to be a lot cheaper mid week than weekend. I stayed at bellagio nearly 10 years ago and it was dirt cheap mid week!

Oliversmumsarmy · 24/06/2019 16:46

We have gone for the cheaper option before and whilst you might only spend a short time in the room it just made it not as nice and in some ways if you have a nice room it makes the trip better.

The Bellagio breakfast buffet is amazing.

Although one thing to warn you. There is an Italian style restaurant in the Bellagio over looking the fountains.

It is eye watering expensive for what is a 1/4 portion of a Bella Italia meal. Nice but not worth the money as you then have to go and get something else
If you want to watch the fountains and eat get a Mac Donald’s
