No sign of DH and DD - AIBU to feel really really worried?

Starting to feel a bit panicky - AIBU?

DH picks DD (2.5) up from nursery on Wednesdays, usually at about 5.30. The nursery closes at 6.30. Sometimes he takes her to visit his grandmother before they come home.

She just called to ask if she can see them later in the week as he didn’t drop by today. So if they aren’t there, where are they??? The nursery closed over an hour ago.

AIBU to start to panic? DH doesn’t carry a mobile phone, and I can’t phone his work/the nursery to find out what time he picked up as both are now closed. If he hadn’t picked her up, they’d have been phoning me, right?

Have you got AA cover or similar? Could you call them to see if he’s called them?

FindaPenny · 19/06/2019 20:10

Hopefully op isn't answering because they are home now.

icelollycraving · 19/06/2019 20:10

If a random man knocked on my door wanting to use my phone I’d be a bit dubious. Why doesn’t he have one? Is there any chance this is a bit of a weird control thing? Not doing an armchair relationship diagnosis but reminds me of someone who would pull this shit to keep his wife submissive.
I hope he’s just got a flat tyre and he realises the practicality of carrying a phone. Good luck.

JPK1510 · 19/06/2019 20:10

Hope everything turns out ok!

MRex · 19/06/2019 20:10

Does he have The AA or equivalent? You could call them to check if they've been called out.

If he hasn't made contact by 8.30 then I'd call the police, it's so late for a tiny tot. Unless he's often irresponsible and keeps her out?

Sugaronjam · 19/06/2019 20:10

Would be have gone to a supermarket on the way home? I would be worrying too.

ASauvignonADay · 19/06/2019 20:10

Hope all is ok OP

Why doesn't he carry a mobile phone though?

ilovepinkgin33 · 19/06/2019 20:10

Another one here thinking you should phone 101, hope they are safe and sound OP, Thanks

BiscuitDrama · 19/06/2019 20:11

When I say to see if he’s called the AA, obv I appreciate he’d have to have called from someone else’s phone.

Jacksmadre · 19/06/2019 20:11

I hope they turn up soon Op, I’d call the police or your parents. It won’t do any harm. I’d also be making sure he gets a phone

feathermucker · 19/06/2019 20:11

Hope he's home soon

BiscuitDrama · 19/06/2019 20:12

Great minds MRex

Ginger1982 · 19/06/2019 20:12

Why doesn't he carry a phone?
If there is a simple explanation, don't let him turn it around on you when they get home. He is the idiot here.

TheInvestigator · 19/06/2019 20:12

Just sending good thoughts OP. What a horrible situation. Why does he refuse to carry a phone? What does he think will happen if he has a phone? Nothing bad! But it would stop this from happening.

Sonicknuckles · 19/06/2019 20:12

Hope they're home soon

SickOfBeingFat · 19/06/2019 20:13

Hope he’s home soon, OP!

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 19/06/2019 20:13

Fingers crossed they appear soon..another vote to call 101

NannyRed · 19/06/2019 20:13

YANBU at all. Of course it’s natural to be worried. Give him earache when he gets home and get a phone this weekend. Even if it’s only you that has his number.
I hope they’re back home soon.

kw1091 · 19/06/2019 20:13

Hoping they’re home soon! I’m worried for you x

SirVixofVixHall · 19/06/2019 20:14

Car breakdown is most likely, i hope they are home shortly. I agree you can call the non emergency police for advice if they are still not home.

NoSquirrels · 19/06/2019 20:14

Call your parents, OP. Don’t sit in this now out of loyalty to him. He bloody well SHOULD carry a phone now he’s responsible for your child.

I expect they will advise you to call the police.

CantspellWontspell · 19/06/2019 20:14

I agree if they’re not back by 8.30, that’s three hours post pick up and no contact. Defo police.

Myusernameismud · 19/06/2019 20:14

Hope all is well OP.

DH did this a few weeks ago, phone died and he was 2 hours late home but I'd checked Google maps and seen there had been an accident so he was stuck in traffic. In all honesty, I panicked he'd been involved in the accident until I checked local news and seen it happened before he left work. There will be a simple explanation. Keep us posted.

Chewbecca · 19/06/2019 20:14

Broken down car is a reasonable explanation.

I would use this experience to insist on a phone.

missedith01 · 19/06/2019 20:15

Hope you get some news soon, OP. Flowers
