Help me - sick in hotel **Thread contains references to upsetting content - Title edited by MNHQ**

Not sure what exactly I want from this other than maybe distraction.

I’m in a central London hotel for 2 nights for major work meetings, DC are with a babysitter, she’s great but young.

I’ve started being ill as soon as I got here, I’ve been sick and crippling stomach pains. I’m basically trying to sleep in a hot bath to sooth them. Fairly sure next door think I’m having a good time from all the groaning but honestly feel like I’m giving birth it’s agony Sad

I have no water, or painkillers and can’t leave the room to get any which is upsetting me. It’s a basic hotel so no room service to order from.

I am having to keep the bin near to be sick in and this is really really really upsetting me because last year I was raped and as part of the prelude to that I was forced to gag/vomit in a bin. And it’s just playing on my mind constantly now.

I’m worried about work. I’m worried about the DCs having whatever this is, the babysitter not coping and me being stuck 2hrs away.

And I REALLY need water and pain relief!

Sorry for the general rant.

Aww sounds awful OP, I hope you feel better soon.

From a practical perspective, is the a phone in the room? Is there any way you could get in touch with reception and ask if they can assist you by bringing water etc? Not sure if this will be of any use but thought I'd suggest it.

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/06/2019 02:31

Can you get an Uber or taxi driver to pick up pain releif from a chemist and bring it to you?

Failing that, I think even cheap hotels will have a night manager in who could get you help or a first aid kit?

Qsandmore · 19/06/2019 02:34

It’s a premier Inn so no phone in the room, assume there is someone downstairs, do you think if I tried to find the number and called it from the mobile they would do that for me?

Can you do that with an Uber?! Im usually rural so have never used them much but do have the app.

I think I might be sick again Envy

I guess the tap water will be fine to drink . If you are in a travelodge there is usually a vending machine. Is there a night porter who could help you if you can manage to go down ? If you hear other guests arriving home you could perhaps ask if they have any paracetamol? I am sure people would help . Hope you feel better soon x

EMacCoffee · 19/06/2019 02:36

I'm not sure about the phone number but it's certainly worth a shot.

Poppins2016 · 19/06/2019 02:37

Flowers It sounds as though you're having a really rough night.

You might be surprised at what reception can assist with if you state that you're ill. And/or a taxi service might be willing to get you painkillers and bottles of water.

I'm sure the babysitter will call if the children become ill or if they can't cope.

It does sound as though you're in more pain than the average stomach bug... might it be worth a 111 call?

Qsandmore · 19/06/2019 02:45

Ok so thanks Premier Inn reception. If I want painkillers I need to get my partner to go to the 24hr Tesco. Only I don’t have one. So that was a flat no and said there were none in the hotel.

The bar is closed and he can’t open the vending machine so no to the water too. I have to come down. I pointed out I would vomit in the corridor.

Poppins it doesn’t feel like a normal bug as I can’t go to the toilet despite needing to Blush I don’t want to cause a fuss though.

I have no cash, if I book an Uber on my app/the card can you give instructions?

Qsandmore · 19/06/2019 02:45

I’ll just drink the tap water and hope it doesn’t make me worse

It sounds like gallstones OP! Utmost sympathy, can't believe they won't help you Sad

Blue5238 · 19/06/2019 02:49

I'm sorry you're having such a crappy time. Premier Inn provide water glasses... So you can get some water from the tap.
Whilst you will want painkillers in time, it sounds like they wouldn't stay down now, so I'd go for getting as much sleep as you can between vomiting and painkillers in the morning.
One of my colleagues has been off sick with v similar sounding symptoms, so maybe there is a bug with these characteristics going round.

EMacCoffee · 19/06/2019 02:51

Aww that's awful that they can't/won't help you. The tap water should be fine, might not taste great but it is better than nothing for keeping you hydrated.

If you're worried that it doesn't feel like a normal bug you wouldn't be causing a fuss by phoning 111 for advice.

ilovesooty · 19/06/2019 02:56

I'm sure the tap will be perfectly ok.
Surely though if you have a bug you won't be able to work tomorrow?

Durgasarrow · 19/06/2019 02:57

I am so sorry you are suffering.

Widowodiw · 19/06/2019 03:05

Ask reception for a jug of tap water if you bring sick water is all you need so you stay hydrated and it may make you sick as you need to get it out if you. Accept that your prob not going to mKe your meetings. Perhaps send an email now if you can in case you fall asleep later.

Jemima232 · 19/06/2019 03:05

OP - nurse here - with severe pain, constipation and persistent vomiting you need an ambulance.

floraloctopus · 19/06/2019 03:08

Hope you are ok soon op. The tap water will be fine to drink.

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/06/2019 03:13

It does sound gallbladdery and like you need medical attention to me - I have inoperable gallstones, it is agonising and often feels as though if you could go to the toilet that would help.. only you can't.

I'd call 111.

SleepWarrior · 19/06/2019 03:14

Oh you poor thing, that all sounds horrendous. Tap water will be just fine, and it's important to keep fluids up. Sips straight after being sick.

Have you eaten anything suspicious that might have caused this? Hopefully something your kids haven't eaten...

Seconding not worrying about painkillers at this point. I always find they irritate the stomach even more during a vomiting bug and up the sick frequency for a while.

Other than the other end not being forthcoming (I've had this with bugs that send the rest of the family dashing to the loo), are there any other symptoms that suggest not a normal bug? Defo ring 111 if there are.

And perhaps get out the bath - it's bot uncommon to faint on the sudden blood pressure change caused by vomiting - not something you want to happen whilst alone in water...

Really hope it starts to ease and you can get some decent rest.

bordellosboheme · 19/06/2019 03:15

This will pass OP. But it sounds like you need medical advice. Call 111 asap. Hopefully you will feel better in the morning. A poster up thread has suggested an ambulance. Because of potential wait times might be best to call now? Is there a work colleague that can help?

Beautiful3 · 19/06/2019 03:17

I would just drink tap water for now. When you stop being sick, buy some medication. Hope you feel better soon.

Jemima232 · 19/06/2019 03:20

OP -PLEASE if you're reading this, at least phone 111 (who will send an ambulance anyway) if you feel you'd be being dramatic phoning 999.

Severe abdo pain as bad as labour? Non-stop vomiting and constipation?

Bloody hell. It could be anything but you need qualified medical help.

Purpleartichoke · 19/06/2019 03:21

I’ve had things delivered to my hotel room multiple times. They have always come all
The way to my room. If you want to order some painkillers and maybe some ginger soda, I would just specify your room number and tip well.

Jemima232 · 19/06/2019 03:26

And OP - you have all the symptoms of an intestinal obstruction ATM so you shouldn't be drinking or eating.

PLEASE call 111 or preferably 999.

StinkyVonWinky · 19/06/2019 03:30

OP, how are you feeling? I also think it’s worth ringing 111 for advice. Shame on that Premier Inn receptionist for not helping you, that’s appalling. When you do get to a chemist, you need to get some Buscopan for your cramps, as well as pain relief. I hope you feel better soon. x

Totur · 19/06/2019 03:32

No idea what it is, but it sounds like hell. If you get bad enough, call.
