Help me - sick in hotel **Thread contains references to upsetting content - Title edited by MNHQ**

Not sure what exactly I want from this other than maybe distraction.

I’m in a central London hotel for 2 nights for major work meetings, DC are with a babysitter, she’s great but young.

I’ve started being ill as soon as I got here, I’ve been sick and crippling stomach pains. I’m basically trying to sleep in a hot bath to sooth them. Fairly sure next door think I’m having a good time from all the groaning but honestly feel like I’m giving birth it’s agony Sad

I have no water, or painkillers and can’t leave the room to get any which is upsetting me. It’s a basic hotel so no room service to order from.

I am having to keep the bin near to be sick in and this is really really really upsetting me because last year I was raped and as part of the prelude to that I was forced to gag/vomit in a bin. And it’s just playing on my mind constantly now.

I’m worried about work. I’m worried about the DCs having whatever this is, the babysitter not coping and me being stuck 2hrs away.

And I REALLY need water and pain relief!

Sorry for the general rant.

Probably not this but I had something like that which turned out to be a stomach migraine. Very painful stomach and couldn’t stop throwing up. Hope you feel better soon and get it sorted out!

SirVixofVixHall · 19/06/2019 18:36

Agree you need medical attention OP. Sounds like gallstones, but could be something else, and gallstones can be serious.

MidsomerBurgers · 19/06/2019 18:37

OP, I would really urge you to contact 111 for advice now. Crippling stomach pains, bloating, constipation and vomiting may not be 'just a stomach bug'. Please get advice.

JaneyJimplin · 19/06/2019 18:43

Dude, you need medical attention.

Lovemusic33 · 19/06/2019 18:43

Get yourself checked out OP, get a taxi to A&E.

AmeriAnn · 19/06/2019 18:45

Is the pain on your left side? TBH it could be anything from gallstones, to an ulcer to pancreatitis, to a chest infection etc

Gallbladder is on your right hand side, under the rib cage. I had gallstones and had my gallbladder removed. If you are looking at another person though, face on, the GB would be on the left, but looking down at your own body it's on the right.

My pain was always in the same place, never moved around and came after eating a high fat meal. I found jumping jacks dislodged the stones and relieved the pain. Sitting still made the pain worse. I got tired of jumping around and had it out.

Qsandmore · 19/06/2019 18:47

Thank you all, I’m not worried enough to do A&E yet, going to try and weather it until I can go home to my GP tomorrow. I don’t think the “triggering” hate that term! Is helping the situation.

And I really am sorry to anyone who was affected by me dropping that in unexpectedly it wasn’t my intention. It isn’t a nice thing to think about sorry.

I agree that you need to see a doctor now.

DishingOutDone · 19/06/2019 18:51

I'm a bit confused OP why are you staying another night? You can't work, have you just sat in hotel room being ill all day? I dont mean to be unkind but I think you need to get yourself some proper help. My friend's husband had those symptoms and it was a perforated bowel.

Gth1234 · 19/06/2019 18:54

how are you posting if you don't have a phone.

Ring 999, and get taken to hospital. Sounds like severe food poisoning to me. Are you a single parent? I assume not, so who is going to relive the baby sitter?

Serin · 19/06/2019 18:57

Sorry OP but I think you are being irresponsible. If what you are describing is accurate you need to seek proper medical advice. (Ideally yesterday).

MidsomerBurgers · 19/06/2019 18:59

OP, I am a nurse and I repeat, seek medical advice please.

breatheinskipthegym · 19/06/2019 18:59

Hi OP, there’s an app called Beelivery that will do a shop run for you and deliver it to you. Payment straight from your card, and they have a ‘corner shop’ type menu on their site, which they then go and buy from a supermarket or whatever. They’ll be able to get you painkillers, Lucozade etc. Also try Amazon Prime Now, I think I saw you were in London so both should be quick and easy for you. Sorry the hotel staff weren’t able to help. Feel better soon.

strawberrisc · 19/06/2019 18:59

Why don't you at least phone 111?

viques · 19/06/2019 18:59

GTH1234

ipad?

viques · 19/06/2019 19:01

OP! Have you thought of signing up to an online doctor for a consultatoon?

Gth1234 · 19/06/2019 19:01

if the tap water isn't safe to drink, it would say. If you aren't sure, boil it in the kettle, and let it cool a bit.

Given that this started in the early hours, I am more inclined to think you got food poisoning from whatever you ate at your meetings. Irrespective, food poisoning is still really dangerous - people are dying from listeria in sandwiches - I would dial 999, and request assistance. The first responders will be able to give you something at the very least.

TerribleTwosPhase · 19/06/2019 19:05

how are you posting if you don't have a phone.

Ipad, tablet, work laptop that op might have with her for her meeting?

Hope you feel better soon OP

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 19/06/2019 19:06

how are you posting if you don't have a phone.

She has a mobile phone. There's no landline phone in the room that you would use to dial 0 for reception.

FloatingthroughSpace · 19/06/2019 19:09

When my DD had a bowel obstructed by intussusception, she had these symptoms. Biggest clue was constant vomit but no pooping or even farting. If it would have been a virus it would have been both ends. The worst of the pain eased off the second day as the section of intestine died.
She was visibly bloated by then.
Please get a doctor to check you out.

TheoriginalLEM · 19/06/2019 19:10

What did you eat before the flare up - this sounds like gall bladder pain. What colour is your wee?

ineedtogotobedanyway · 19/06/2019 19:12

how are you posting if you don't have a phone

Why do you think OP doesn't have a phone? She literally says in her 2nd post that's she does Hmm

Gth1234 · 19/06/2019 19:20

I assumed the OP didn't have a phone, as she was expecting the premier inn to help. Then I re-read, and saw she did have a mobile,. So if she has a phone, ring 999 for medical help.

You can't really expect a lot from a night service porter in a premier inn.

Anyway the thread started at 2am, so a whole day has now passed. The OP posted about 9:30am, and presumably stayed in the room from then to 4:30pm without bothering to get medical attention. Sounds crazy to me.

Ravingstarfish · 19/06/2019 19:25

Can you get deliveroo?
You could always ring 111, they might send a first aider with pain relief if nothing else.
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

kathi7486 · 19/06/2019 19:38

Hi OP,
how are you feeling. I'm a first time poster and english isn't my native language so please everybody be gentle. Smile

OP, is there any chance that you are getting your period? I used to have the exact symptomps when I was getting mine including feeling nauseated and excrutiating stomachpains. Also had to be collected by A&E a couple of times because I used to pass out in very public places (on the train, in the middle of the schoolyard in the mall..)
Fun timesWink
It got better with age though.

What helped me in those times:

  • Buscopan or iboprofen (take the max. doses); takes about 30 minto an hour to work though
  • Loads of sugar to prevent fainting: Even though I used to throw up; gurgling icetea at least kept me on my feet

But just to be safe, please get yourself checked out. Feeling sick and fainting on the train is not a pleasant experience.
