Help me - sick in hotel **Thread contains references to upsetting content - Title edited by MNHQ**

Not sure what exactly I want from this other than maybe distraction.

I’m in a central London hotel for 2 nights for major work meetings, DC are with a babysitter, she’s great but young.

I’ve started being ill as soon as I got here, I’ve been sick and crippling stomach pains. I’m basically trying to sleep in a hot bath to sooth them. Fairly sure next door think I’m having a good time from all the groaning but honestly feel like I’m giving birth it’s agony Sad

I have no water, or painkillers and can’t leave the room to get any which is upsetting me. It’s a basic hotel so no room service to order from.

I am having to keep the bin near to be sick in and this is really really really upsetting me because last year I was raped and as part of the prelude to that I was forced to gag/vomit in a bin. And it’s just playing on my mind constantly now.

I’m worried about work. I’m worried about the DCs having whatever this is, the babysitter not coping and me being stuck 2hrs away.

And I REALLY need water and pain relief!

Sorry for the general rant.

Hope you're OK, OP, and managed to get some relief and some sleep (in bed). That sounds absolutely horrendous, and I can't believe how unhelpful the hotel reception was!

DoctorDread · 19/06/2019 07:52

Sounds nasty op. Hope things improved

CocoLoco87 · 19/06/2019 07:52

You poor thing! If I was in central London then I'd drop painkillers and water off to you. DH is in central London but he already thinks I'm unhinged for being on MN Grin

ThePerturbedPenguin · 19/06/2019 07:53

Yes I would get medical advice. But why won’t you drink tap water?

MorrisZapp · 19/06/2019 07:53

My nephew is a night porter in a Premier Inn Hub, so a more basic hotel than a Premier Inn.

He spends must of his shift attending to guests needs. I know he has done much more for guests than fetching water, he's done all sorts.

yawning801 · 19/06/2019 08:23

Hope you're okay OP

louisvootin · 19/06/2019 08:27

is the no muumsnetters near by that could help this lady out.. im in scotland so no use to you but i would definitely help if you were near me. just an idea. x

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 19/06/2019 08:32

She hasn't posted since 2:45am and hasn't given any information about what Premier Inn she's in or if she still needs help.

Some PI staff are great, so she might have got everything she needs after a staff change, or hopefully she's got medical attention.

No one can help until she comes back, anyway.

Zbag · 19/06/2019 08:33

I hope you're ok OP. Its certainly not the receptionists job to go and out and get painkillers for somebody though. And whats wrong with the water from the tap that the rest of us drink?

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 19/06/2019 08:35

Hope you’re ok OP n

Hope you’re ok

ColdToesHere · 19/06/2019 08:38

OP, i'm in central London at the moment, can I help?

Phoningliz · 19/06/2019 08:55

OP I'm coming to London this evening, staying in a Premier Inn for a couple of nights. I often travel for work and can really empathise with how rotten it would be to be in your situation.

I'm hoping that you finally fell asleep, and when you wake up you can give us an update, but if I can bring you some stuff tonight (about 8pm) I will.

CanILeavenowplease · 19/06/2019 09:04

And whats wrong with the water from the tap that the rest of us drink?

Water from bathroom taps isn’t always suitable for drinking. Where I work we are told not to use water from the bathrooms to drink. I think it depends where the tank is located?

Rachierach11 · 19/06/2019 09:04

Been checking this post since 5am. Really feel for you OP. Hope you're getting some sleep and feel better for it x

ineedtogotobedanyway · 19/06/2019 09:09

Hope you are OK.

Can't believe the attitude of the staff member you spoke to last night. That's not usual experience from a PI

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 19/06/2019 09:10

I have reported this thread so MN can edit the subject line.

I have reported this thread so MN can edit the subject line.

To what?

I suspect that day staff will be far more helpful, not least because there are more of them. (I always drink sink water in Premier Inns).

LoafofSellotape · 19/06/2019 09:15

Why?Confused

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 19/06/2019 09:17

Sorry - to include that the OP's first post mentions rape.
I was not expecting to read that.

Skittlesss · 19/06/2019 09:23

I had similar sounding symptoms and ended up being blue lighted to hospital. Turns out I had gallstones, but the symptoms made them think it was something much worse. I remember telling them that the pain was worse than labour and I had had 2 babies on gas and air only.

Grumpymug · 19/06/2019 09:24

I hope you're feeling better OP and are not posting because you've got some rest.
I'm a night manager in a hotel and I wouldn't be able to help you practically either other than bringing some water/towels or calling 111 for you. I work alone and I'm not allowed to leave the hotel for security and fire safety reasons. So I couldn't be of much practical help, and we're not allowed to give out paracetamol etc. It's something I do get asked for but my hands are tied. There's likely nothing the night manager can do - most work alone.
It's a shit situation and I'd bring and do what I could to help, and have done in the past, but the scope of helping is actually quite limited.

ememem84 · 19/06/2019 09:27

Hope you’re ok op

Meccacos · 19/06/2019 09:27

Sounds like gallstones or kidney stones.

I’ve had both and both times I had contractions as my body tried to push them out.

With the gallstones, I ended up calling an ambulance - the pain was the worst pain I’ve ever felt.

With the kidney stones I was still able to drive to a hospital - but had a 6mm stone stuck in my ureter.

I really think it might be this. You might need an ambulance. Over the counter doesn’t help. I had strong painkillers - (codeine) doesn’t even touch it. I needed morphine, fentanyl and pethadine (at different times).

I'm staying in the Premier Inn in Wembley tonight so if I can be of any help at all, please let me know.
