Help me - sick in hotel **Thread contains references to upsetting content - Title edited by MNHQ**

Not sure what exactly I want from this other than maybe distraction.

I’m in a central London hotel for 2 nights for major work meetings, DC are with a babysitter, she’s great but young.

I’ve started being ill as soon as I got here, I’ve been sick and crippling stomach pains. I’m basically trying to sleep in a hot bath to sooth them. Fairly sure next door think I’m having a good time from all the groaning but honestly feel like I’m giving birth it’s agony Sad

I have no water, or painkillers and can’t leave the room to get any which is upsetting me. It’s a basic hotel so no room service to order from.

I am having to keep the bin near to be sick in and this is really really really upsetting me because last year I was raped and as part of the prelude to that I was forced to gag/vomit in a bin. And it’s just playing on my mind constantly now.

I’m worried about work. I’m worried about the DCs having whatever this is, the babysitter not coping and me being stuck 2hrs away.

And I REALLY need water and pain relief!

Sorry for the general rant.

I would go to one of the many hpsitals in london theyre all on your doorstep they can at least run some tests before you go home-your gp will send you anyway

Frouby · 19/06/2019 20:02

Dh had similar symptoms a few years ago, was a perforated bowel. His appendix had burst and he had peritonitus before he got operated on.

Ya don't fuck about with your guts OP. Get some help.

RedPink · 19/06/2019 20:07

.

tryingnottopanicrightnow · 19/06/2019 20:28

Also think it sounds like you need a doctor. Is your abdomen soft or hard?

WishUponAStar88 · 19/06/2019 21:01

I agree please at least phone 111 op xx

coshewasaprick · 19/06/2019 21:40

Why won't you seek medical attention now? I don't understand the downside.

Qsandmore · 19/06/2019 23:13

Hey sorry, yes I have a phone, just no hotel phone for reception.

I don’t want to cause a fuss it’s probably food poisoning, I promise if I get worried enough I’ll call 111 I’m here for 2 nights with work, though obviously not working as I feel like death. I am a single parent, home tomorrow to relive babysitter but hopefully grandparents will step in as I’m not sure I can cope with them. I have to get back as the kids will be worried.

I’m not panicking as it’s kind of coming and going now, unlike last night when I was in agony, I can go a little while today feeling ok and sleeping then it comes back again. I just want to go home and see GP there.

I won’t mess about though, if I feel it’s getting too bad I’ll call in I promise. Just hate medical stuff after last year unless I have to. And I know that’s stupid!

Op get yourself a to local 24 hour supermarket or pharmacy .
Call hotel reception for advice and there should be some kind advice

Once you speak to someone kind and have some Painkillers you can get through the night FlowersFlowersFlowers

LittleFairywren · 19/06/2019 23:24

Yeah you're right, that is stupid. You need medical attention. You have no idea what's wrong with you. Could be life threatening but let's not seek medical attention eh?

Pikapikachooo · 19/06/2019 23:24

If you are less crampy that’s a good sign try and sleep x

Jemima232 · 19/06/2019 23:42

Okay - I want you to think of your DC, please. They need you.

You needed medical attention last night. I advised you to ring 999 and then suggested 111 as an alternative.

Even if it's food poisoning or norovirus, you are probably severely dehydrated by now.

And your symptoms equate to what's known in the trade as an acute abdomen.

Please, please call 111 (preferably 999)

I never suggest this to people online unless I'm sufficiently worried, and last night I was. Tonight I'm more worried.

You need medical attention asap. You don't know what's going on inside your abdomen - you need expert assessment.

Cheby · 19/06/2019 23:51

Stop being stubborn and call 111. I appreciate the reasons for not wanting to but honestly you need to get checked out. As PP have said, think of your D.C.

Piehunter · 19/06/2019 23:57

Please please call for medical assistance urgently. Your symptoms sound like my experience with both appendicitis and bowel obstruction. The feeling bone tired thing is concerning, when you're really really ill you don't always realise.... PLEASE call 999 or 111, please? Is it worth risking potentially your life, so as not to cause inconvenience? You NEED checking out and rehydrating and decent pain relief (probably not orally). The swelling and pain really could be a bowel obstruction/issue. You can't get home anyway, you may as well be getting checked and if it's nothing, you'll leave!

ineedtogotobedanyway · 19/06/2019 23:59

I just don't get why you didn't go home today?

ohtheholidays · 20/06/2019 00:02

I hope you wake up in the morning feeling alot better OP,being caught out the way you have must be a nightmare.

I know you've said your away for work but would your parents, friends or another family member bring you up some medication tomorrow and give you a lift back rather than you still being ill and struggling to get to the station and take a train all the way home?

MollyHuaCha · 20/06/2019 00:05

Hope you feel a lot better soon.

Jemima232 · 20/06/2019 00:06

I have to get back as the kids will be worried

Oh Lord.

I can't see you even getting to the station, never mind making it home. You'll be so weak and dehydrated and in pain that you'll faint.

PLEASE hear me. This is something that needs urgent medical attention right now not something you need a routine appointment with your GP for.

Ilovemypantry · 20/06/2019 00:18

How are you now OP?

neveradullmoment99 · 20/06/2019 00:19

Go home! Why are you even still there. You are not well!

Piehunter · 20/06/2019 00:24

I know what it's like to hate medical stuff too, my appendix burst, medical negligence, sepsis, a month in hospital, huge gaping open wound.... I've had major panic attacks in hospital since (4 years now!) I've had 7 admissions this year alone, because they missed it, and now I live with life threatening complications... if you have long lasting complications for leaving something serious to get worse, you'll have a lot more medical intervention for a very long time. Short term pain, long term gain. This is not something to mess around with, and you know that..if you phone 111 they will send an ambulance, you are VERY unwell and I can't imagine you'll get through the train journey without getting hauled off to a random hospital half way home when someone pulls the emergency button when you pass out on the train. You need a hospital.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/06/2019 00:26

How far are you from home? Could a friend come and pick you up rather than you have to catch the train?

Fucktuates · 20/06/2019 00:29

Are you in labour?!

Lilyrose77 · 20/06/2019 00:35

Hi OP,

If you phone your GP practice they might be able to prescribe anti-emetic (anti-sickness) medication without seeing you or you could order some 'Buccastem' (anti-emetic) from Boots online for the sickness (you put it under your lip, so it's ok if you can't keep anything down as with normal tablets) and buscopan for the pain. If you're dehydrated try either flat cola OR put a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar in a glass of water to replace electrolytes.

Which Premier Inn are you staying at? It sounds exactly like Norovirus and much less like food poisoning, so keep up really good hygiene to try to prevent spreading it to the other people in the hotel and to your kids when you get home- handwash for 40 seconds with soapy water and avoid touching door handles in the hotel if you can.

Lilyrose77 · 20/06/2019 00:39

I hope you feel better soon.

Also just on a side note I have a severely immune compromised family member staying in a London Premier Inn tonight and feel very concerned that they might get seriously ill from this infection if they happen to be at the same hotel, so please could you avoid handling anything that you can at check-out.
