To wonder what Heart radio were thinking

In sacking off all their local breakfast show presenters and employing Amanda Holden?

Does anyone actually like listening to her?

I can’t stand her so have completely retuned and don’t listen to Heart at all now.

Is it just me?

Capital have done the same and are inflicting Roman Kemp on the East Midlands every morning now...I miss Dino, Pete & Tyles 😩

TooStressyTooMessy · 12/06/2019 22:01

polkadotpixie, I miss them so much too. It’s like missing friends Blush and to do that to Tyles while she was basically on mat leave Angry. I can’t bear Roman Kemp and all the celeb arse licking.

JoanCallamezzo · 12/06/2019 22:36

Another one missing Ed, Troy and Paulina here. DS and I listened to them every morning on the school run for years – it's his last term at primary school so we won't be doing our drive together for much longer and I'd hoped to get them to do a shout out on our last day!

I wrote to them when I realised what was happening, to say how sorry I was, and all three of them sent me lovely messages back. I feel so gutted for them that they've lost jobs that they clearly loved and were great at – same for apparently so many presenters and producers around the country. It's utterly shit.

I was prepared to give AH the benefit of the doubt but she's truly dreadful. We're now trying other stations, Radio 1 this morning. Feel really sad about the whole thing.

TooStressyTooMessy · 12/06/2019 22:45

I suppose there’s nothing we can do? I was similarly sad actually when radio2 trashed the Drivetime show and signed petitions but of course nothing changed there either.

This seems to be due to Ofcom changing the rules so letting radio stations do away with local programming AngryBBC link here.

Ihatesundays · 12/06/2019 22:54

I am assuming it’s their advertisers they have to answer to, so will be interesting to see how long AH lasts.
Saying that they’ve spent so much money on her they can’t just get rid, maybe they think people will just tune back eventually (I fucking won’t though!).

Ihatesundays · 12/06/2019 22:55

And for me rush hour radio is about traffic reports. Isn’t it why people choose local radio?

alltoomuchrightnow · 12/06/2019 23:00

Miss Matt and Michelle, can't bear to listen now

CheerfulPotato · 12/06/2019 23:06

I really miss Martin and Su (and producer Alex).

Won’t listen to Heart any more.

user1511042793 · 12/06/2019 23:07

I miss ed and Gemma who are now on drive time but how long before they get rid of local drive time? Wherever those pair go is what station I listen to.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 12/06/2019 23:17

she treated Les Dennis like a career move.

Or was it the affair with Neil Morrisey ?

The annoying thing is that it worked for her.

LolaSmiles · 12/06/2019 23:18

They've lost a listener here too.
I used to like local radio in the car, then our truly local stations got merged to one semi regional one but with different traffic updates and then it became capital / heart with drive time covering a 3 hour radius.

What I liked was it was local people who sound like me talking about silly local things alongside music. To be honest, the music was a bit repetitive and the set up felt a bit 'local bloke with female sidekick' but that seemed to be the model, however irritating, but I'd get over that for local content.

Now it's like the world revolves around London, we're meant to care about a few celebs blabbering on and the same dull music.

I'm using Spotify radio now.

Amiable · 12/06/2019 23:39

I've changed to Magic. Used to love Jamie and Harriet, and Jamie and Emma, but can't bear AH's manner, very fake and all 'what am I like?!' So now it is Ronan and Harriet for me!

INeedAFlerken · 13/06/2019 16:57

It's awful. We didn't want a 'national' morning programme; we liked our local one. My kids don't like it either, so we flip stations in the morning.

icanthelpyou · 13/06/2019 17:03

We've switched to BBC Essex

RomanyQueen · 13/06/2019 17:19

ToEarly

I think she used Les Dennis, nobody had heard of her until she became Mrs Dennis Grin
Taking her knickers off for Neil Morrissey, brought her fame.
Did it work? Well, I suppose she's famous, but people remember her for this, not any particular talent. Does she do anything?

Omzlas · 13/06/2019 17:46

I thought it was just me. I can't bear AH, she makes me feel like my ears are bleeding

I've tuned back to a local station in the morning and I listen to HY after 4pm (I actually have it on right now!)

LAlady · 13/06/2019 17:48

I've stopped listening to Heart on the way to work. Can't abide Amanda Holden.

I do listen to JK & Kelly coming home.

nipontuck · 13/06/2019 17:54

Erghhh. This is news to me. I won't be tuning into Heart again. She is such an irritating pleb and I heard something recently about her, not in the news which suggests she's a complete and utter manipulative bitch too.

IggyAce · 13/06/2019 17:59

@Mammyloveswine I miss Justin and Kelly too. Have turned off heart and tuned in to metro/tfm, not the same but decent and local too.

StealthPolarBear · 13/06/2019 18:23

Yes and before Justin and Kelly it was Lisa and Gary, do we know what happened to them? It took me a while to get into Justin and Kelly but now they're gone I'm not even bothering.

StealthPolarBear · 13/06/2019 18:41

Thanks for the link me too

Laiste · 13/06/2019 18:41

Signed!

Not sure it will do any good, but it's good to know that people will know. If you know what i mean?!

PicaK · 13/06/2019 19:00

They're dire. Miss Ed and Gemma so much. Didn't appreciate the "localness" of it til we lost it. Ive stopped listening.

RolyWatts · 13/06/2019 19:13

I've switched off too. I turned off from BBC 2 when they brought JW into drive time because it was the most awkward thing I'd ever heard. Now I've switched off from heart - I liked the very local flavour, local phone ins and local humour. Started listening to Kisstory or Clyde 1 instead.
