To wonder what Heart radio were thinking

In sacking off all their local breakfast show presenters and employing Amanda Holden?

Does anyone actually like listening to her?

I can’t stand her so have completely retuned and don’t listen to Heart at all now.

Is it just me?

Martin and su has been part of my morning routine since I was at school!! Can't believe they are gone!!

TooStressyTooMessy · 11/06/2019 22:08

Taking the piss! Not sure what taking the puss is but it may not be appropriate for morning radio.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 11/06/2019 22:10

I can no longer listen as the news presenter was my first boyfriend. And it is just weird having him read the news to my partner and kids over breakfast Grin.

Add in to the fact AH - and forget it. Bye bye Heart!

Clevs · 11/06/2019 22:14

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners

Ed & Rachel seemed to work better together than Ed & Gemma in my opinion.

BackforGood · 11/06/2019 22:16

There was a long thread on this last week.
(Midlands here so have listened to Ed James for about 18 years - really amusing bloke, lots of local knowledge, really limited rattling on about "slebs".
I tried the new regime for a morning, but have not moved to Greatest Hits - far better music, and the DJs are not as good as Ed James but far better than JT and AH.

altiara · 11/06/2019 22:19

Another Matt and Michelle fan. Haven’t tuned in at all since the switch. Although I discovered I’d been leaving it on for the poor dog when I went to work! Popped back for something and thought who is that and realised it was AH! I had to tune in some kind of greatest hits to keep DDog company.

OneHanded · 11/06/2019 22:24

How anyone can listen to heart anyway is beyond me!

CurbsideProphet · 11/06/2019 22:31

I've started following Lorna on Instagram in the hope that she and Joel will move to a new station together after the alleged 3 months wait period.

I only listen in the car anyway and now swap between Smooth, Radio 2, and Rock FM (Preston).

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/06/2019 22:32

I'm missing Ed, Troy and Paulina. (Heart West Country).

ToEarlyForDecorations · 11/06/2019 22:35

Kev and Ros. (Peterborough) Don't miss them. He was smug and she was silly.

I did miss Ed and Gemma, they were good. West mids.

I don't listen to Heart at all anymore. I nicknamed it Ed Sheeran FM because they could never let 90 minutes go by without playing Ed Sheeran (or Pink)

Fizzytonicplease · 11/06/2019 22:35

I miss joel and Lorna in the morning, was vevry confused when i tuned in and it was amanda holden. I havent switched back to heart, lucky im now on maternity leave so no need to listen to them in the morning.

ExpletiveDelighted · 11/06/2019 22:36

My DD turns my car radio to Heart later in the day if I give her a lift, I used to leave it there and listen in the mornings, not any more. Like a pp I listened for about 5 minutes to the "burnt saucepan" anecdote and thought fuck this before turning over.

mistermagpie · 11/06/2019 22:44

I used to love Heart in the car but it has certainly become Ed Sheeran/Pink FM now and sticking Amanda Holden on in the mornings just adds insult to injury. I tried capital but that's not for me, so now it's Clyde 1 which is rubbish!

Divgirl2 · 11/06/2019 22:44

AH and JT can only be an improvement on the previous Scottish offering. I've destroyed countless manicures trying to jab the various buttons on my radio to make them stop.

To the person that said they've been banned from other stations for 3 months - they've probably been put on gardening leave.

Chocolatecake12 · 11/06/2019 22:51

Really miss James and Becky (Kent) they were really funny and you felt you knew them! I listened to ah and jt for one morning but then turned over to another local station and I’m staying there.

PatchworkElmer · 11/06/2019 22:55

In our area, a few years ago they merged several of the local teams into a regional presenting team- so I lost the people I liked then and stopped listening. Seems mad to get rid of the regional ones as well!

likeafishneedsabike · 11/06/2019 23:00

I’m still waiting for anybody to say they have enjoyed JT and AH. Anyone? Anyone?
No?
We have re-tuned to Greg James on Radio 1. I’m quite enjoying a bit of variety in music as the Heart loop was slowly unravelling me.

Jasging · 11/06/2019 23:07

Jamie's fine. But Amanda in a morning... just no.

Getting rid of Ed James from Midlands breakfast is second only to when Elliot Webb was axed from BRMB!

I kind of find myself thinking I can see the logic for a national platform for this brand but they were so strong locally it is a shame.

iamthere123 · 11/06/2019 23:08

We had Kev and Rox - was not a fan of Kev but Roz was alright. I have a longish commute and was useful to have local info but that’s all gone. It ridiculous! First morning I was listening they were talking about someone listening on the train in Birmingham and I just thought I don’t care about Brummies I want local people listening in my area. I know it sounds silly but I felt quite sad!

Curlygirl42 · 11/06/2019 23:09

Loved Martin and Su and producer Alex in Essex, no way am I listening to Amanda Holdens inane drivel. Have turned over to another local station who are ok but not as good. Always loved sleeps to Santa at Xmas as well ☹️

RomanyQueen · 11/06/2019 23:11

I retuned mine too, can't abide the false woman.

LonelyTiredandLow · 11/06/2019 23:12

Flicked over to it on school run only to hear a lady berating how Ant and Dec went to her local carvery and, horror of horrors, she HADN'T GOT HER FALSE EYELASHES ON Shock. Apparently this ruined her meal as she couldn't go up for seconds and had to ask her 7 yo to get her more meat as she was "so so embarrassed" Hmm Biscuit

LonelyTiredandLow · 11/06/2019 23:12

To be clear, that was a PRESENTER, not just a random star struck member of public...

CoolCarrie · 11/06/2019 23:13

A relatives of mine were at a sports do and Lewis Hamilton was there, with his brother. AH turned up, sat on LH knee and fawned over him, relatives said he looked very uncomfortable, like he had just met her, and she completely ignored Lewis’ brother. Didn’t like her before I heard that story, and don’t like her now, she treated Les Dennis like a career move.

tttigress · 11/06/2019 23:15

No doubt to save money, so complaining won't do much good.

Must admit I have more or less stopped listening to the radio, which has positive and negative points, it used to be useful to catch up on news, but on the downside the "topical" sections where so manufactured.
