was allowed to watch a 15cert film without the parent checking in with me first?

what age do you allow your kids to watch 12cert and 15cert and 18 cert films? wouldn't you, out of courtesy, check in with the parents first?

I have taken the same approach with my kids especially with regard to alcohol. We are an Anglo Cypriot family, therefore drinking with meals that last for hours from an early age is quite normal and even at the christening, the baby is given fortified wine on a spoon by the priest lol! My kids now are 16 and 20 and don’t see or enjoy drinking the way their peers do and wouldn’t think of drinking on the streets, and only drink now on special occasions, and that’s their choice. It’s not the same as when I was a kid, that’s for sure! I think if you make alcohol seem as if it’s the holy grail, then kids will sneak around drinking. However, I would never offer any type of alcohol to a child who wasn’t mine, it’s just wrong.

A 12 wouldn’t bother me. A 15? As some of the other posters have said it would depend on the film for me. It would have been a courtesy to check though.

sootyandsweep2019 when I was at Uni from 19-24 me and my mates all drank alcohols. I was tipsy after just a few. We'd drink them at home and then in the clubs. Plenty of the guys did too.

I would absolutely ask this sort of thing before a playdate - my children are 4months, 5 and 9 - as well as is there anything he/she cant have to eat/drink. I'm fussy over fizzy drinks; dont buy them. I wouldn't be unhappy about my children having them at a payday tho. I would always check tho. As for movies; my children only watch U's or PG's if DP and I have vetted them first.
When I was a child tho; my mum never bothered with the certificates Confused each to their own I guess! 🤷‍♀️
