Oh it might look kind of nice,
But you’ll have to build it twice,
Oh you’ll have to build your house once more.

Projector team rules!

Thunderpunt · 07/06/2019 22:20

Yess scarecrow that's the line.... I just couldn't get it lol

MrsSiba · 07/06/2019 22:21

MoobaaMoobaa · 07/06/2019 22:21

mabelsgarden · 07/06/2019 22:22

WOW 'the ink is black' !!! I haven't heard that for years! What a good song. Some great memories in here. Thanks all. Smile

BurntSausage · 07/06/2019 22:22

I’m finding this thread is ridiculously exciting 🤣

phlebasconsidered · 07/06/2019 22:22

"At half past three we go home to tea, or maybe at quarter to four, and ten pairs of feet go running up the street and in at their own front door.." I loved that one.

And Lord of the Dance.

As a primary school teacher I still sing Autumn Days. The kids hate it but I belt it out.

mabelsgarden · 07/06/2019 22:23

Awww, morning has broken! And it sound so cute sung by teeny kids too! Grin

Serin · 07/06/2019 22:23

Walk with me oh my lord through the darkest night and longest daaaaaay.
Be at my side oh lord,
Hold my hand and guide me on my waaaaay. Halo

Violetroselily · 07/06/2019 22:23

The earth is yours oh God, we nouriSH IT with rain

(emphasis on shit, obv)

phlebasconsidered · 07/06/2019 22:24

And I still have an OHP for singing assembly and they still argue like mad to be the one who sets it up and does the pointing with the pencil.

SleepingStandingUp · 07/06/2019 22:24

Were Little Boxes On The Hillside in this book?
Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky...

MimsyBorogroves · 07/06/2019 22:24

I am a devout atheist.

I bloody loved the Come and Praise songs. And Shine Jesus Shine.

When Jesus hung upon the crosssssss
Enduring hunger, pain and lossss
He LOOKED with loving EYES acrosssss
The sea and said forgiiiiiive.

How can I remember all these but not what I had for tea?

moonrises · 07/06/2019 22:24

I have quite a few earworms now - so thanks for that Grin

I loved being on projector duty at church, it was the height of excitement. I found some acetate sheets in my loft when we were moving last year that I had left over from when I had to do a presentation for an interview - I have a feeling it was only about 2003

SmallPinkBear · 07/06/2019 22:24

Kids of today are seriously missing out on projectors in schools with the fancy board things they have now. They will never know the honour of being in charge of the projector acetates!
Think I might have to get a copy to educate my dd, I hadn’t really realised that they don’t sing them any more

IJustLostTheGame · 07/06/2019 22:25

Cauliflower fluffy, and cabbages green
Strawberrieeees sweeter, than any I've seen...

Clawdy · 07/06/2019 22:25

Jesus bids us shine with a pure clear light
Like a little candle burning in the night
In this world of darkness we will shine
You in your small corner, and I in mine.

Spainintherain · 07/06/2019 22:26

Every Friday assembly at my primary school was hymn practise - just singing and I lov d singing my heart out. Kumbaya my lord, kumbabyaaaaaaa! One more step along the world I go, and when a knight won his spurs were my favourites!

Do schools still sings these songs?.

Usuallyinthemiddle · 07/06/2019 22:27

Oh wow. I'd forgotten all about these! Gosh.

scarecrowhead · 07/06/2019 22:27

The wise man built his house upon the rock ... and the rain came tumbling down
The rain came down and the floods came up
I'm sure there were actions too

Violetroselily · 07/06/2019 22:27

I went to a very naice C of E primary where we had hymn practice twice a week using Come and Praise

The Building Song was one of my favourites

And we are climbing jesus's ladder ladder Grin

Hullabalooo · 07/06/2019 22:27

I found the school songbook 'Apuskiduski' in a charity shop recently and also bought that for the nostalgia factor. Our school used that and 'Come and Praise' interchangeably.

Anyone remember that? The sight of it made the years fall away!

londonrach · 07/06/2019 22:27

Loved loved this song book. I might have it too. Some great songs mentioned here
