And if so, how will you vote?
I want to vote tactically against the Brexit Party so I am thinking LibDems. But knowing mn and it’s very politically engaged (not to mention intelligent) posters, I thought I would put this out there Wink

@WordInYourShellLike

Yes. remain voter recommends the Greens for undecided Remain voters in your area. It's PR not first past the post - 8 MEPs will be elected for the North West.

ilovesooty · 21/05/2019 02:05

Lifelong Labour voter but voting for a Remain party on Thursday.

Laura221 · 21/05/2019 06:45

This is really interesting, I wasnt going to vote this Thursday as it didn't seem important but actually reading up it really is. I'll be a green vote.

Tiscold · 21/05/2019 07:23

Or you could see it as during the years of the coalition the lib dems held back the worst of the conservative party because it's only within the last 4 years or so that serious cuts, brexit and uc have been out in place.

I don't think we can blame a whole party for a choice made years ago, or should we blame all of the labour party now because you sent us into the iraq war and as a party you're responsible for the death our soldiers and the civillians from the war. Oh wait no, because party leadership changes, party positions change and the lib dems of today are different from the lib dems of the coalition and labour is different today then labour of the oh no they've got weapons of mass distruction (not) and we must invade them (totally not lap dogging america)labour

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 21/05/2019 08:14

Probably lib dem

Ds1 probably lib dem

Dh probably change uk

That vote thingy says to vote change uk in our area

LonelyTiredandLow · 21/05/2019 08:19

Labour have officially stated that if they get changes to the terrible deal May has put forward, or if there is no general election, then they will back the option of another public vote

Negotiations between them broke down last week and yet we've heard no more on the PV Hmm. Labour's priority is to Brexit first then PV second. I'm a remainer and don't think they have been helpful at all at pointing out the stupidity of Brexit for 3 years, instead they've gone along with it and legitimised it. They won't be getting my vote.

OneOfOurOwn · 21/05/2019 08:22

Yes. Lib dem. Always voted Labour before.

BlueSkiesLies · 21/05/2019 08:40

Yes. And Lib Dem.

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/05/2019 08:47

I’m voting LibDems.

Pollymat · 21/05/2019 08:54

Not LibDems. They are dodgy in my opinion. Anyone remember the Panorama program about their biggest donor who is an arms dealer?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37823559

'The Choudrie family has given more than £1.6m to the Liberal Democrats. An investigation by BBC Panorama and The Guardian suggests he is also one of the world's biggest arms dealers. Leaked documents say one of the Russian arms firms paying the Choudhries "makes cruise missiles".'

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 21/05/2019 08:59

I'm thinking green.

NorthernRunner · 21/05/2019 09:03

After speaking with husband last night I’m unsure of voting Lib Dem. I did that once and they back tracked so fast, I’m not sure I could trust them not to do the same again...

Marmablade · 21/05/2019 09:04

Yes Lib Dem. These elections mean nothing but I want to make it clear I DON'T support the Tories' mess of the Brexit plan nor odious Nigel Farage.

GaraMedouar · 21/05/2019 09:06

I was decided to vote LibDem but that website says I should vote Change UK.

Takeittotheboss · 21/05/2019 09:06

As Tiscold said, parties have different circumstances than they did years ago. Plus I hate that it is portrayed that the Lib Dems are the devil because they were unable to dictate policy as a minority partner in a coalition.Whilst the two main parties change policies and inflict chaos everytime you turn round, yet are not chastised at all by the voting public! I'll be voting Lib Dem as Green is probably a step too far for most in this very Tory area! And I want to see a remain mep.

ilovesooty · 21/05/2019 09:07

NorthernRunner they're hardly likely to backtrack on supporting Remain.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/05/2019 09:11

Labour have officially stated that if they get changes to the terrible deal May has put forward, or if there is no general election, then they will back the option of another public vote

I’m pretty sure this is the most recent in a long line of circumstances in which labour say they will back a public vote. There’s no more reason to believe them this time they said it than the last time they said it. The only chance there is of labour actually getting behind a public’s vote is if all their remain supporters vote for another remain supporting party.

Takeittotheboss · 21/05/2019 09:12

GaraMedouar, the website is for those who were undecided about their vote in order to maximise Remain seats at the end of the allocation process. So if you had decided on Lib Dem, that is who you should vote for. If too many people follow the website advice and try to vote tactically, it will jeopardise the assumed voting pattern and things will not pan out according to the website's predictions.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 21/05/2019 10:54

Takeittotheboss has said exactly what I was going to. Those remain seats are only safe if everyone who was going to vote for them does. If too many people switch their vote, they'll stop being safe.

Cloudtree · 21/05/2019 11:14

I'm interested in how they know how people are intending to vote since if they are going on things like whether an area is historically a Tory safe seat then that means nothing surely? Conservatives are split and very many conservative voters are remainers.

Lexilooo · 21/05/2019 11:20

I am concerned that Remain Voter is going to split the Remain vote too much and harm the chances of getting the "safe seats" they predict.

I think the site is great if you are normally a tory or labour voter who wants to send a remain message, or are undecided but regular LibDem supporters should not switch their allegiance on the basis of this website.

ethelfleda · 21/05/2019 12:30

A vote for LibDems in the Europeans is not a vote for a LibDem govt. It is about one thing and one thing only - Brexit!

This is the only real chance, in the absence of another referendum, to send a message that we want to remain in the EU. It isn’t about party politics or what may have been promised in the past. A vote for a party who is so clear on its stance on remaining in the EU is so important right now.

Besides, we have elections like this every few years. We have no idea if we will ever get the chance to vote on EU membership again.

OP posts:
ethelfleda · 21/05/2019 12:32

You can guarantee that loads of leavers will get up and go and vote for Farage to have their voices heard in the most direct way possible. We need to counter that!

OP posts:
lunicorn · 21/05/2019 12:37

I've read Green for the North West. Is this the best tactical idea?

AutumnCrow · 21/05/2019 12:43

Agree than voting Lib Dem on Thursday is a means to an end. But it's an important end, and it's the means we happen to have right now.
