And if so, how will you vote?
I want to vote tactically against the Brexit Party so I am thinking LibDems. But knowing mn and it’s very politically engaged (not to mention intelligent) posters, I thought I would put this out there Wink

Thanks Tavannach

CamillafromCobham · 23/05/2019 00:22

I’ve never voted for anyone but the Conservatives before now.

Am voting Lib Dem.

JustSomebodie · 23/05/2019 04:57

I’ve never voted for anyone but the Conservatives before now. Nor have my parents or my husband.

I am voting for the Brexit party. So are they.

floribunda18 · 23/05/2019 05:01

I'm voting Green if they have candidates in the area.

Oakenbeach · 23/05/2019 06:02

In terms of ad hoc referendum, surely it doesn't matter about splitting the votes, since there will be figures available of (all votes cast for remain parties) v (all votes cast for leave parties)?

Disagree entirely! It matters enormously!....

A split Remainer vote means a split Remainer voice after the election. Imagine how much stronger the Remainer position would be if the 50+% who would vote remain in any future referendum coalesced around one party, even if it’s just for the purpose of stopping Brexit!

For the majority who won’t be poring over the voting figures, the clear lead of the Brexit Party appear to be indicating that the most popular position is a no-deal Brexit.

Remainer voters need to get savvy or they’ll get shafted and that means not touching remainervoter.com with a barge poll and it’s crazy advice to vote Change UK in some areas.

bellinisurge · 23/05/2019 06:37

Obviously voting. Holding nose and voting Lib Dem.

gamerwidow · 23/05/2019 07:02

Most people aren’t great at interpreting data. If the Brexit party gets the most votes a lot of people will see that as a mandate for Brexit even if the other Remain parties poll more. They’ll just see the party with the biggest number.

Sculpin · 23/05/2019 07:14

gamerwidow so are you saying we should vote Lib Dems?

bellinisurge · 23/05/2019 07:18

Obviously vote how you like but I am fed up of being subtle (Grin). Lib Dem's are clearly Remain and are the largest small party in England.

ThinkWittyThoughts · 23/05/2019 07:20

I'm going LibDem. Despite their disappointing stance on self ID and women's spaces.

Interestingly, that remain united site states that even with tactics voting, the outcomes aren't predicted to change in the Anglian region (not sure why but Anglian is also called Eastern).

Happy voting everyone.

GabrielleNelson · 23/05/2019 07:25

politics.co.uk/ has a very good clear guide to who to vote for, with sensible provisos.

They have three recommendations per region depending on your priorities:

  1. Maximise Remain vote
  2. Minimise Brexit Party vote
  3. Lifesaver, if you want to improve the chances of a particular Remain MEP whose party might be struggling

Their TLDR recommendation is vote LibDem.

The key thing, though, is to get out and vote, and try and get others to do the same.

Sculpin · 23/05/2019 07:33

Thanks Gabrielle - that website is much more useful than the other 'tactical voting' sites.

I'm in the south east - and voting Libdem.

BelleSausage · 23/05/2019 07:59

Just voted Green through gritted teeth.

It was either that or Lib Dem and I won’t vote for any party with Aimee in it.

grumiosmum · 23/05/2019 08:14

Why through gritted teeth Bellesausage?

We have a wonderful Green MEP in our area, and I can't think of a better way of supporting both Remain, and action against the Climate Crisis.

ControversialFerret · 23/05/2019 08:20

Grumiosmum I suspect it may have something to do with the Green's stance on women's rights; referring to women as "non men" is not only derogatory but offensive. It's this very reason why I haven't voted Green. The Lib Dems aren't much better - as Belle says the Aimee Challenor debacle was awful and it's still not been dealt with effectively.

ethelfleda · 23/05/2019 08:23

Just voted LibDem. Also noticed a tag line under UKIP saying ‘Make Brexit Happen’ on the ballot paper but no tag lines under other options Hmm

ApplejackCriesOnTheInside · 23/05/2019 08:45

Change UK because their policies don't include removing women's rights (yet Angry)

treehugger1 · 23/05/2019 09:19

Lib Dem, first time I have ever not voted Labour. Corbyn is a dick and has lost my vote.

NorthernRunner · 23/05/2019 09:21

I just can’t vote labour today sadly, looks like green or change UK

kalopali · 23/05/2019 09:24

It’ll be interesting to see the results on Sunday, I wonder if it will change the view of those pushing for a second referendum?

PantsyMcPantsface · 23/05/2019 09:48

Been down and voted Lib Dem... didn't realise we had the Rees-Mogg sister standing in our area for the Brexit Bunch - voting against one of the Siblings of Darkness was pleasurable.

I did want to start the hashtag #milkshakesatpollingstations though but thought better of it.

gamerwidow · 23/05/2019 10:00

gamerwidow so are you saying we should vote Lib Dems
No I’ll probably vote Lib Dem because I think they are the strongest Remain party. Everyone else gets to make up their own minds as is their right.

gamerwidow · 23/05/2019 10:01

Ps I’ve been flipping between change uk and Lib Dem all week the decision is really hard this time round.

Sakura7 · 23/05/2019 10:11

Unless you're in London, a vote for Change UK seems a bit of a waste unfortunately. Better to go Lib Dem imo.
