My family think I must have shares in Sudocrem because i recommend it for almost any ailment 😁😁

Latest proof: friction burn from dog lead walking accident (don’t ask)... medics recommended keep clean, loose dressing, leave it to heal naturally.. 1 week later, no better.

3 days of Sudocrem - virtually fixed, almost expect new foot to grow shortly !

who will join me in the Ode to Sudocrem - or even recommend new potions with magical powers that I can add to my list?

We use it to keep flies off the sensitive bits of horses, especially just inside ears.

bbcessex · 18/05/2019 16:12

PuzzledObserver - my DS has properly stubborn skin conditions and medical and uses Eumovate and also Betnovate - (think a PP also recommended Eumovate for ladies bits).

Both work really well

I love sudocrem for my spots and all the cuts I seem to keep getting on my knuckles Confused. So glad to hear it can be used safely on dogs too, truly amazing!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 18/05/2019 16:17

My motto is "if sudacrem doesn't fix it book a drs appointment" brilliant stuff.V good for sunburn and spots.

simonisnotme · 18/05/2019 16:18

its good stuff on piles bum

Espress0Patronum · 18/05/2019 16:22

Amazing stuff!

We even used it on the dog when she had razor burns on her belly after the vet shaved her for spaying Grin

ThatCurlyGirl · 18/05/2019 16:24

Ours is basically a family heirloom. The number of years it's been going it must refill when nobody is looking.

Think expiry is early 90s. Meh, still works like a charm!

WhatOnPlanetEarth · 18/05/2019 16:29

MIL had a heirloom tub. Was roughly 25 year old. It was disgusting to even look at, the texture was all wrong!

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 18/05/2019 16:34

Funnily enough the only thing Sudocrem didn't help with was DS's nappy rash when he started on whole milk. Poor bugger shat strong acid, I swear. Took us ages to figure out that while boob and formula milks were okay, yoghurt and cheeses etc were just fine, it was whole milk making his skin burn off his bottom. Poor baby was covered in bleeding sores and Sudocrem only helped heal them afterwards.

fedup21 · 18/05/2019 16:36

I’ve never found it worked very well on nappy rash! Metanium was far more effective.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 18/05/2019 16:38

I went to boarding school, and we worked out that you can use Sudocrem to make you look really ill, if you want to skive a day off school.

PuzzledObserver · 18/05/2019 17:14

@bbcessex - thank you for the suggestion.

The new cream I’ve just been prescribed has the same steroid ingredient as eumovate at the same concentration, but has antifungal and antibacterial ingredients as well as the GP believes I have an infection as well. This is the 3rd cream she’s tried me on, in addition to oral antibiotics and antifungals.

Betnovate is a different steroid type, and is more potent. I think they start with the entry level stuff and then ramp up if it’s not working.

Can you get eumovate and betnovate over the counter? In any case, I’m probably better sticking with the prescription route until we find a combination that works. She said that if this cream doesn’t do it the next step is dermatology.

Bwekfusth · 18/05/2019 17:16

Works wonders on shaving/waxing bumps. Getting it all off your bits the next day is a bit of a mission though.

sheshootssheimplores · 18/05/2019 17:25

For us that yellow nappy cream you can buy in a tube is the miracle cream that is bought out for every ailment.

bbcessex · 18/05/2019 17:45

Puzzled - my son has his on prescription... both work well, but yes, Betnovate is the big guns....

Hope you get sorted soon, sounds very painful x

beanaseireann · 18/05/2019 18:07

Betnovate is great for Psoriosis.

sueelleker · 18/05/2019 18:40

I used it on a cut that one of my dogs had(recommended on a dog website) and I swear you couldn't see it after 2 days.

Poppins2016 · 18/05/2019 18:43

I kept sudocreme in the house years before I had my baby! Same as a previous poster, I use it as an overnight mask when my skin flares up (a very thin coating all over). I believe it's the zinc that does the trick!

sueelleker · 18/05/2019 18:45

PuzzledObserver; Is it Eumovate (clobetasome) or Dermovate (clobetasol)? Dermovate also comes as a preparation with Nystatin and Neomycin in it.www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/skin-hair/a6540/clobetasol-neomycin-and-nystatin-cream-ointment/

puppymouse · 18/05/2019 18:56

Use it at home for DD but more often use it on my horse. Barrier against flies, barrier to sun burn on his nose and heals wounds and scrapes.

EggysMom · 18/05/2019 19:13

I'm probably daft for asking, is Sudocreme any good for psoriasis? It's currently flaring on my elbow and behind my ears ....

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2019 19:19

I love Sudocrem, wonderful stuff. My dog loves it too, I use it on her ears when they get itchy. She comes running when I open the tub.

QuilliamCakespeare · 18/05/2019 19:24

Ah! This is just what I need to put on my eczema on my eyelid. I have an enormous pot of it somewhere DS can't reach it (he likes to smear it over his arms)...

bbcessex · 18/05/2019 19:24

Eggsymom - worth a go if it’s mild, but we use prescription stuff for DS.
