My family think I must have shares in Sudocrem because i recommend it for almost any ailment 😁😁

Latest proof: friction burn from dog lead walking accident (don’t ask)... medics recommended keep clean, loose dressing, leave it to heal naturally.. 1 week later, no better.

3 days of Sudocrem - virtually fixed, almost expect new foot to grow shortly !

who will join me in the Ode to Sudocrem - or even recommend new potions with magical powers that I can add to my list?

We love the stuff in our family too.

Whenever anyone gets a tub out my mum and my aunt love to tell the story of how my cousin and I at the age of two (there’s only a couple of months between us) managed to get into a big 500g tub and smear the entire contents all over the sofa and a large portion of the carpet.

Why we were left alone for long enough to do this or how a pair of two year olds managed to get the lid off has never been explained.
Both my mum and my aunt are both certain I was the instigator though. Grin

I use it on my discoid eczema. The only thing I have found to work quickly and last. Anyone who has this type of eczema knows just how persistent and hard to treat it is.

I have also used it on DC cuts/grazes etc. Heals within 2 days completely with no scab or anything!

Brilliant for hormone spots too.

Another thing that is amazing is germoline. Sorts out chapped lips in literally minutes and is brilliant for acne outbreaks. If I wake up with a cluster of spots I put it on as a primer before my make up and by the evening the spots are just small bumps with no redness or puss left.

Top tip for getting sudocrem out of fabric (or anything else) is washing up liquid. Oh and also green washing up liquid kills fleas on contact. (Found our when Ddog had fleas and was too young for treatment).

IcelandicYoghurt · 18/05/2019 12:36

Not sure if someone's said this already but you can use it in dogs too. We fostered a staffie that had horrible sores on his neck where he'd been chained up. Rescue centre said keep clean and sudocrem twice a day.. and it worked.

EnglishRose13 · 18/05/2019 12:41

I've really bad spot scars on my chin - I've continually had spots there since about December- will Sudocrem help?

I'd post a photo my it's honestly disgusting. 😂

whatawolly · 18/05/2019 12:45

Ah yes! We had a shih tzu who would scratch like mad if his fur was more than a cm long. Left him with awful sores and sudocrem worked absolute wonders (along with fluffy socks to stop him scratching) until he was well enough to have his hair cut.

Ronsters · 18/05/2019 13:09

Ive tried sudocrem on spots overnight and it didn't do anything, apart from leave a big greasy mess everywhere. I was a bit disappointed.

LakieLady · 18/05/2019 13:13

My previous dog had itchy "hot spots" on his belly that no amount of stuff from that would heal.

Sudocream sorted it and my vet now recommends it to people who have dogs with skin problems - saves them a bloody fortune!

SpamChaudFroid · 18/05/2019 13:30

When I picked up my puppy after his castration, vet asked me if I had any Sudocrem at home to put on his scar. He didn't even need to wear his post-op onesie and healed at the speed of light.

Had a look just now, and I can't even see a scar. (won't post pic Grin)

NormaNameChange · 18/05/2019 13:31

Does anyone have the advert under this thread where it looks like one soldier painting sudocrem on another ones face?? It made me proper chuckle

Tigger001 · 18/05/2019 13:35

We used to laugh saying my mum would recommend it if you had your leg hanging off.

I had a tub in our house long before our DS arrived as it was the answer to most ailments. And true fact....the pit never runs out, you only ever have to but a new one as you have misplaced the last, never that it's empty !!!!

TwoleftUggs · 18/05/2019 13:43

I still have (and still occasionally use) the mini pot that came in a bounty pack with DD, now age 14 Grin It still seems to work ok. It’s good for taking on holidays as it’s so small. I really do think it will last forever.

Likethebattle · 18/05/2019 14:22

@tigger001 what else would you do if a limb was hanging off....sudocrem cures anything lol

bbcessex · 18/05/2019 14:40

I am very glad to see the majority have understood the magical restorative powers of St. Sudo.

Didn’t realise it safe for dogs - I will now inspect DDog for any potential wounds needing magic attention.

I will also invest in some arnica, thanks PP, as although Sudocrem does indeed fix all ills, bruises seem to deliberately ignore the rules.

Wow thank you, always felt it has magical properties with my kids and also with my occasional itch/issue etc but feel I need to slaver it on a few areas of my body to see if it'll work on other ongoing irks !!

fedup21 · 18/05/2019 15:31

What is in it?!

beanaseireann · 18/05/2019 15:33

So delighted you love Sudocream- an Irish "invention"
Have any of you tried another great Irish skin cream brand Elave ?
It's great for those with excema or sensitive skin.
I am not connected to the company in any way. I don't have a clue who owns it or is involved with it.
I just think their products are great.

AnyFucker · 18/05/2019 15:48

Mainly zinc oxide

LakieLady · 18/05/2019 15:52

Another "magic cream" I keep in the house is Hypercal - brilliant for swift healing of burns and cuts.

Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream is brilliant for sunburn, and worked a treat for the inflammation I had as a result of an allergic reaction to several wasp stings.

teddyclown · 18/05/2019 15:54

Just asked DH to collect some from supermarket and he's come back with stuff in a tube 'Sudocrem Care and Protect'. Knew I should have gone myself, this ALWAYS happens - always comes back with some alternative, whenever I ask him to get something specific.
Used to use the stuff in the grey tub when the children were small.

sunsoutgunsout · 18/05/2019 15:56

It's amazing stuff. I'm always stunned when people say their baby has nappy rash and every nappy cream under the sun gets recommended but never sudocreme...I'm like sudocreme will sort it!!

CoolCarrie · 18/05/2019 15:58

The care and protect is fine, it’s a thinner version of the original.

BetterEatCheese · 18/05/2019 15:59

Totally amazing - use it to calm my face, also had a dog lead burn this week which it healed nicely, and just about anything else!

FluffMagnet · 18/05/2019 16:03

Was always wheeled out in our house for any skin condition, and is pretty much my whole first aid kit for the horse too (amazeballs for mud fever as it stays put no matter what). Now that I have a baby, we're back to using it for nappy rash preventative, which was how my DM originally came across it.

PuzzledObserver · 18/05/2019 16:05

It’s good for a lot of things, true - but it failed to clear up the inflamed shiny cracking skin I’ve developed in various skin fold areas.

Mind you, the GP’s potions, although they have improved it, have not yet resolved it. The jury’s out whether it’s intertrigo or flexural psoriasis, but I can assure you that, whichever it is, Sudocrem doesn’t fix it.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 18/05/2019 16:08

Sudocrem is brilliant stuff isn't it!
Kept my kids arses rash free during the nappy years. I've used it on my own rashy bits if needed.
Other essentials I own - lansinoh cream for when even sudocrem won't help and an aloe Vera gel that works wonders on sunburn.
