My family think I must have shares in Sudocrem because i recommend it for almost any ailment 😁😁

Latest proof: friction burn from dog lead walking accident (don’t ask)... medics recommended keep clean, loose dressing, leave it to heal naturally.. 1 week later, no better.

3 days of Sudocrem - virtually fixed, almost expect new foot to grow shortly !

who will join me in the Ode to Sudocrem - or even recommend new potions with magical powers that I can add to my list?

We always had it in the house when I was little. I still do now. Fab for putting on a spot, with a plaster over, overnight. It usually either brings the spot up to be purged, or it fades away leaving almost no mark within a day.

I'm not keen on it for very sensitive skin though - it does work wonders, but cleaning it off is painful so the hassle involved makes it not worthwhile IMHO as it's too thick & sticky.

Sudocrem is magic! We use it for anything sore and by the next day there is always a marked improvement, it's fab.

AlwaysTimeForWine · 18/05/2019 10:14

LOVE Sudocrem!

My 9 yr old DD gets very sore chapped lips and when they get too bad we wack on the Sudocrem over the weekend and it heals them completely.

Any sort of sore bit, scrape etc gets an application of the magic cream!

dontcallmelen · 18/05/2019 10:14

Yes, we call it the grey pot cream, it’s our remedy for everything practically in this house.

Silversky70 · 18/05/2019 10:15

We actually call it the magic cream.

Fraxion · 18/05/2019 10:16

Anyone know if it works for hacks on the fingers. My husband has had a couple of really painful ones.

AnyFucker · 18/05/2019 10:18

We call it "bum cream" in our house but use it's magical properties for all sorts of things

ImNotShpanishImEgyptshun · 18/05/2019 10:19

It's also a very effective suncream. I get terrible spots on my face using normal suncream, so use sudocrem instead. Helps that I'm pale enough to get away with it!

bellinisurge · 18/05/2019 10:19

My mum used to bring home unused sample pots from her hcp job in the 70s and 80s. It was ace . I still buy it and use it.

Definitely will work on those. DH gets them a lot and swears by Sudocrem.

Off at a tangent, but most recently it cleared up a sore wound on my dog that the groomers had managed to inflict with the clippers. Had used cream from the vet which made it worse as irritated the skin around the wound. Sudocrem - gone in 2 days.

Springisallaround · 18/05/2019 10:20

It really works on teenage spots (of the relatively mild variety) and middle-age lady spots.

EleanorReally · 18/05/2019 10:20

twenty plus years ago my midwife called it magic cream and I agree.
I have a tub in the bathroom

Dodie66 · 18/05/2019 10:20

Can it be used for sore vulva/vagina? Only externally

WoollyMummoth · 18/05/2019 10:21

Whoever invented Sudocrem should be made the patron saint of relief and given their own day to be celebrated every year!😇
It’s amazing stuff😁

RedForShort · 18/05/2019 10:22

Really does sort everything!!

On a tangent I just read it's called Sudocrem due to how 'soothing cream' (one of its first names) in the local accent were it was created. Have been repeatedly saying 'soothing cream' in an my attempt at a Dublin accent. (I don't think I'm winning an Oscar for my performance!!)

GreenStripyGrass · 18/05/2019 10:23

The running joke in our family is that my mum would apply it to broken bones Grin

AnyFucker · 18/05/2019 10:23

Yes, Dodie

HazelBite · 18/05/2019 10:23

A very officious security man at Heathrow removed my tub of Sudocreme as it had 125g on the outside (although only half full) after that he went through mine and DH's bags and confiscated the Sudocreme.
The extensive searching meant time was getting tight to catch our flight and Virgin Atlantic were calling me on my mobile to ask "where we were?" whilst I was in Boots in the departure lounge buying a replacement pot!
Can't live without it DS1 is 38 and I had my first pot in a Bounty bag in hospital when he was born.
Is great as a face mask!

millymae · 18/05/2019 10:23

Couldn’t agree more. We are never without it.

stucknoue · 18/05/2019 10:23

Big fans here. Excellent for runners chaffing, blisters etc (can you tell I've just finished parkrun!)

Also acne, sunburn

Badbilly · 18/05/2019 10:24

Sudocrem is the medical equivalent of WD40

Dieu · 18/05/2019 10:25

It's good stuff, for sure, but for nappy rash I always preferred Metanium (the yellow cream). and if you thought Sudocrem was hard to get out ...

boatyardblues · 18/05/2019 10:27

The mother of all cystic teen whiteheads is building up to a spectacular eruption on DS1’s chin. I had not considered Sudocrem to sort it, but will dig our pot out of the back of the cupboard.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 18/05/2019 10:27

I used it once and it made my skin blister so I didn't bother again.

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 18/05/2019 10:27

Yep. I think it's brilliant. My 9mo baby has never had any bottom soreness, and I definitely attribute that to sudocreme after every nappy change. Its great stuff.
