Neighbours cats nuisances.

Fed up of the neighbours cats treating my garden like there own. The sun beams down on my garden so I’m guessing they like that but it also shines in their owners garden. Tonight I’m fuming because I caught it doing a crap in my front garden. First it dug a hole then did the business. I threw water at it so it ran away.
I know my neighbour would knock my door if it was the other way round. What should I do? His is really irritating me now. And they’ve got 4 cats by the way. Not really a fan of next door but we’re civil and polite’ish.

Also there’s nothing wrong with their own garden. It’s lovely. Wish they would p*ss off.

Fucking hate the sodding bastards.

Iovefootball25 · 16/05/2019 21:09

I’m not a fan either. Really don’t appreciate the invasion at all.

Mine loves my neighbours garden Blush and I have no idea why. Luckily he just naps in there and comes back home to use his litter tray so they don't mind!

Summerorjustmaybe · 16/05/2019 21:15

Op you need a super soaker.
And I say that as a dcat lover /owner.

Iovefootball25 · 16/05/2019 21:20

Super soaker sounds like a good idea!

Feel your pain OP
I've just spent the past 2 years working tirelessly in my garden. Its cost me a fortune plus the many many 100's hours labouring. The NDN has 2 cats that waltz in whenever and shit everywhere. My deck area is getting ruined as the ir cats use it as a scratching post. my young son wont go on it after he got 2 splinters in the sole of his foot last year, a direct result of their fucking cats!!
My garden should be completed within the next 4-6wks when the turf is finally laid. After which every single piece of cat shit will be scooped up and thrown over the wall onto the NDN conservatory roof!!

EVERY SINGLE PIECE!!

Fuck 'em

I’m sure if they could stop it they would? I wonder is there a way to stop cats roaming? Serious question

PoptartPoptart · 16/05/2019 22:15

You can buy cat sensor deterrent things - they are motion sensors that either let off a very high pitched sound that cats hate (but is barely audible to humans) or you can get motion sensor sprinklers (again, cats hate water).
Position the sensors (battery operated ones are better than the solar ones) around the perimeter of your garden so as much of the area as possible is covered.
I was skeptical but they seem to be working for me.

We have a gazillion cats in the neighbourhood and none ourselves. We have used sonic deterrents like these to stop them all shitting in our garden. Very effective as long as you remember to replace the batteries occasionally!

I give up!

InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 16/05/2019 22:22

I feel you!!!
I read really mixed reviews on that sonic deterrents. Can you guys recommend some?
I planted lavender because apparently they don't like it. BS. Shitting with a nose IN that lavender now.

Cats cannot be trained. They go where they go. It is just fertiliser. At least they usually bury it unlike dogs and it smells less and has less disease

Serin · 16/05/2019 22:24

I hear you sister. Our NDN has 6 of the little shit machines.
When we came home from a 2 week holiday in the heat of last summer you could smell our garden from 200 yards away. Vile.

Iovefootball25 · 16/05/2019 22:25

Yes I heard about lavender. I might try and plant some. The problem is that they use the area as a litter tray. I’m scared to plant anything because I don’t wana dig the shit up.

Supersoaker definitely. I have cats and I am totally fine with that. Do it every time you see them so they learn to stay out. They don’t like it but it doesn’t harm them.

InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 16/05/2019 22:28

It's not a fertiliser. I lost 2 bushes because of them shitting and weeing underneath them.

PrayingandHoping · 16/05/2019 22:28

We had a sonic cat alarm from b&q at our last house. Worked a treat!

Thankfully new area is more of a dog area so along with our 2 dogs we have no cat issues!

PrayingandHoping · 16/05/2019 22:30

@user1471430409 disagree cat poo smells less than dog, the smell of my previous neighbourhood cats poo would literally make me gag!

Iovefootball25 · 16/05/2019 22:32

Cat poo smells much worse. It’s disgusting. They even broke my fence by constantly jumping onto it. I really don’t know why they won’t stay in their own garden

SciFiScream · 16/05/2019 22:34

My cats used to come home to use the litter tray. Now they don't. I was so proud. Now I'm not.

If I were your neighbour I'd come and pick it up.

Super soaker, plants cats hate, can you hide a couple of half full bottles of water among the plants? Apparently they don't like the vibrations from that when they walk.

On behalf of cat owners everywhere I apologise.
