Neighbours cats nuisances.

Fed up of the neighbours cats treating my garden like there own. The sun beams down on my garden so I’m guessing they like that but it also shines in their owners garden. Tonight I’m fuming because I caught it doing a crap in my front garden. First it dug a hole then did the business. I threw water at it so it ran away.
I know my neighbour would knock my door if it was the other way round. What should I do? His is really irritating me now. And they’ve got 4 cats by the way. Not really a fan of next door but we’re civil and polite’ish.

Point was that a “dog” can, by nature, be an enemy of a cat. It’s not a taught behaviour. Plus, cat owners are so loving, they will put their pets in harm’s way.

Point is that most dogs don't make enemies of cats, I've had a cat and a dog at the same time. 1000s of people do. Point is that because 1 in every 1000 dogs would chase, catch and harm a cat is not a good enough reason for me to keep an animal locked in a house.

My old dog would quickly have made short work of any cat that came in to our yard.

I wish she hadn't been like that but it is what it is, I didn't make her that way.

I keep my end of the deal by securing my yard to keep my dog in, it is not my responsibility to keep other people's cats out.

She did catch a few cats over the years and unfortunately they didn't all live to tell the tale but I also would not lose sleep over someone's pet that they themselves were not keeping out of harms way.

Lot's of breeds of dogs instinctually chase small animals, terriers, sight hounds etc and anyone who says cats and dogs are natural friends has no real idea of the different dog breeds that people own.

Had a Jack Russell terrier and a cat... perfect friends!

Of course nature plays a part and cats are will chase mice, birds etc.

Cats don't bury their poo they do it in our pebbles or dig up our newly planted bushes while sleeping on and spoiling our plants

@bobirdbloo and we own a border collie who can 100% be trusted no to chase sheep and who free runs our back yard with chickens, that doesn't mean most dogs wont chase sheep or kill chickens though and if one my chickens got in to the neighbours yard and their dogs killed it that would be my fault and only to be expected, same as a wandering cat entering other people's property's.
