Not with soap, no. I use Silcocks base on them. They are extremely dry, if I used soap on them they would probably bleed!

Hadenoughofitall441 · 12/05/2019 22:36

Yes, but most of the shower gel from the top of your body travels that way anyway. I mainly do it because it’s part of my shower routine. And also I work in shorts so my knees are always dirty.

SplashPad · 12/05/2019 22:38

I wash my thighs but not lower legs as the soap just runs down. I'm shocked at people not washing their feet though!

Yes. Always

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/05/2019 22:39

Yes, I wash everything, with either the shower puff thing or a flannel (whichever I grab first) because otherwise what’s the point?

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 12/05/2019 22:39

Why do you need to wash your feet?

Because I stand on them between 12 and 16 hours a day at work.

Summersunshine2 · 12/05/2019 22:40

For those of you horrified at not washing legs properly I have a question.
How do you reach all of your back to wash it?

Thehop · 12/05/2019 22:41

Nope, the soapy water cleans them!

FreeTedHastings · 12/05/2019 22:41

@LadyRoughDiamond
Sorry to tag you but I have KP on my lower legs and it's getting worse. I know this is off thread but I'd be really interested in how you are dealing with it. You can PM me if you wish as it's a bit niche.
I also have it on my upper arms but standard exfoliation has kept it under control.
Or maybe I should start a KP thread ...

OldAndWornOut · 12/05/2019 22:42

I have a scrunchy thing on a long handle for my back.

MrsMaisel · 12/05/2019 22:43

Dear mumsnet - can we have a new Topic "Personal hygiene"?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/05/2019 22:44

Summer I can’t speak for anyone else but I have hypermobility syndrome so I’m double jointed Grin

Hotterthanahotthing · 12/05/2019 22:44

It seems most don't wash their feet either ,legs not a problem but feet need a bit if scrubbing sometimes

ILoveMaxiBondi · 12/05/2019 22:46

How do you reach all of your back to wash it?

Well my arms/shoulders are flexible enough to reach but for anyone who can’t there are loofah/ body puffs on a long handle for this purpose.

SarahAndQuack · 12/05/2019 22:46

God no. My legs and feet do not, on the whole, get smelly or grubby to the extent they need more than soapy water running over them and then clean water rinsing them. But I don't do a very physical/messy job.

If I've been in the garden (like today), of course I wash them, because there's mud spatters up my calves where I was digging and it was wet.

But come on ... surely this is one of those situations where most functioning adults can actually tell what needs washing? It's not like there's a klaxon that goes off if you leave your right heel un-abuluted for three whole days together.

cyclingmad · 12/05/2019 22:49

Always, I use soft exfoliating gloves so every part of my body is cleaned. Gets rid of dead skin cells and leaves my skin looking fresh and 'new'.

goodwinter · 12/05/2019 22:52

How do you reach all of your back to wash it?

Well if I bend my arm back behind me, I can reach the bottom half of my back. With my arm coming up over my shoulder and back, I can reach the top half. Hope that makes sense.

FWIW I only wash my legs with shower gel when I shave, for eczema reasons. The rest of the time, yes, water is fine.

BoomZahramay · 12/05/2019 22:56

No. I don't wash my shins or calves with soap as they are v v dry already, but obv they get rinsed with water and whatever soap runs down from higher up. I do my feet and ankles and my inner thighs with shower gel. I do everywhere else very thoroughly!

SuchAToDo · 12/05/2019 22:57

It amazes me how people say the soap running down their legs is enough to clean them...skin doesn't actually get clean unless you rub the soap into the skin....

Stormy76 · 12/05/2019 22:59

Always wash them, I don’t feel clean otherwise and doa once a week body scrub as well

WindyWindyWindy · 12/05/2019 22:59

Yup, I'm in there for a wash so I wash everything.

Pppppppp1234 · 12/05/2019 23:03

I shave my legs every day so wash them every day in the shower at the same time

SarahAndQuack · 12/05/2019 23:03

such, what on earth makes you think that? Confused

You know rubbing soap into skin is sometimes medically contraindicated? It's mildly irritant.

Stormy76 · 12/05/2019 23:07

Feet get surprisingly dirty and need to be cleaned oh and belly buttons too for the non belly washers you can get a disgusting smelling infection in there if you don’t keep it clean .....can be fixed with canesten cream. I am a sweaty person so scrub every thing with a scrubby thing or a flannel and do a brown sugar exfoliation.
